12 problems related to gasoline engine have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The components on this truck ranging from the engine and drivetrain, windows, streering gear and shafts, e-brake lines, fuel pedal linkage and now the fuel gae itself has been a constant source of problems for me since the turch wes only a few months old ( 8,000 miles). Chevrolet has admitted that they knwon of most of the major problems but has indicated that they are "working on a fix". Yet I have to contiune to drive the vehicle. I need some help. Onsta.
Engine has a noticable miss at idle.
Will return vehicle to dealer for repairs. No safety defect listed in the summary.
Knock at start up in shop 6 times not fixed !!!!.
Vehicle cuts off while driving. Vehicle has to come to a complete stop before it will start again, which is hard on the highway in heavy traffic. Under acceleration makes jerking motion and a softer jerking motion while driving.
Engine pings or has spark knock under acceleration or while towing a trailer. Also a spark knock when starting after being warmed up. Transmission will not stay in one gear while towing even on leavel road . Has had no luck with dealer . Dealer always states ( could not duplicate customers concern. ) a g. M. Tech. Rep road tested this vehicle and stated all parameters are within factory specs.
Eng knocks @ start daily, dealer says nrml, owners manual doesnt show as normal.
When starting engine on first start of the day it has a loud valve like rattle for about 15 seconds. Was told it was carbon build up.
When driving at low speeds vehicle cut off without prior warning, causing loss of all power. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer has yet to replace parts. Please provide any further details.
Truck was in shop 6 times for knock in the engine, the engine is still knocking. Nlm.
Consumer has to go under vehicle to disengage engine from running upon turning vehicle off. Please provide any further information. The abs brake system collapsed while driving. Heavy drain on engine and battery. The regular brakes remained functional.
