Three problems related to hatchback/liftgate hinge have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The consumer heard a loud noise from the rear of the vehicle at 40 miles per hour. The consumer looked back and noticed that the rear liftgate cable had snapped causing the liftgate to fall.
Tail gate cable failure. The right side cable snapped and broke while loading the truck.
When the consumer let the tailgate down, the cable broke. The consumer went to the dealer to check to see if his vehicle was involved in the current recall. The consumers vehicle was not included in the recall. Recall# 04e022000.
