5 Tire problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2000

Tire underwent sudden and complete (360 deg. ) tread separation at approx. 65 mph after having been driving about one hour at speeds of (60-70mph). Weather was clear, temp (95-100deg. ). Tire was routinely inspected and kept inflated at factory recommended level of 35psi. Tire had experienced no prior puncture or other damage. All four tires on the vehicle have been replaced and are in my possession and available for inspection. (dot number: w273 tiresize: p265/75r16).

8 Tire problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2000

While driving from home (mesa az) to milwaukee WI, I noticed a once per revolution thump and upon inspection I found a three inch crack at the outer circumference of the right front tire at the steel belt line. The crack was beginning to progress outward radially into the actual tread at the trailing edge of the crack. A local firestone dealer (Dodge city tire center (316) 225-9090, exchanged the tire with a new for cost of balancing only. The claim number was 7797436 which the dealer promised me that they would send the tire to firestone with that number attached so it could be traced. I believe that I saved firestone a damage repair which should allow them to replace the rest of the tires in question on my vehicle. Local dealership in flint michigan refused to do anything. ( dot number: w273wmb169 tire size: p265-75r16 ).

Vibration at various speeds . Safety concern about traction on wet pavement . Been to 3 dealers with no satisfaction . Lost all previous comments while trying to correct . . . I feel general motors needs to be more responsive to the safety of their vehicles . Gm customer assistance recognizes the problem but donna, rep , says I must wait until goodyear mass produces more tires and they will recall . I drive 150 miles a day at 65 + mph . How long must I wait , until myself or someone else is killed or injured???( dot number: tire size: p235x16 ).

21 Tire problem

On March 21, 2000 while driving on interstate 84 near the dalles, oregon I heard a loud pop sound followed by the rumbling of a flat tire. I immediately pulled over and discovered a flat tire. I then changed the completely flat tire. The next day I attempted to have the flat tire repaired at a commercial tire dealership in pasco, washington. Thdy told me that the tire had not been punctured but instead that the wall had seperated from the tread and that the tire was un repairable. I left the tire with them and received a bill for $44. 00 ffor the mounting of a used spare. More recently this summer I have notice a small piece of tread has detached from another one of my tires. ( dot number: w275 wnb tire size: p265/75r16 ).

26 Tire problem

When vehicle is driven on a wet surface it begins to slide. Tires were replaced due to premature wear. Dealer has been contacted.

27 Tire problem

The vehicle has had a vibration from day one. The vehicle has been back to the dealer no less than 5 times in the last year. The tires have been replaced 3 times, 5 service bulletins have been performed. The vibration was reduced but not eliminated. The dealer does not know what else to do. I feel that the vehicle may become unsafe as time goes on because the vibration gets worse over time. ( dot number: ).

28 Tire problem

This is the second tire of the original tires that the rubber has seperated from the cord on this vechicle. These were not any of the tires listed on recall but have been a problem for me to deal with. The first was replaced before the recall was made on any of the tires and that is documented for replacement. The second tire that separated rubber was on 02-03-02. Is it possible there are problems with this particular tire also. I wanted to report it so that there is some type of documentation if there is a failure in the manufacturing of this type and model of tire. I have lost credibility for safety in firestone tires at this point and intend to remove them all from my vehicle ASAP. Thank you for any information or assistance that you may offer. (dot number: w273 tiresize: p265/r7516).
