Abs control module failure-2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500- I have been the sole owner of above vehicle and throughout the course of owning it, the abs light would intermittently activate. At times during slow speed stops, the abs pump would activate on its own. When I inquired about this at a local service station, I was told my wheel sensor was probably dirty. After cleaning, the light would go out and then come back on. Now with less than 65,000 miles on the vehicle, the abs light is constantly on, I checked with the dealership and I'm told the abs control module is dead. . . $1300 estimate for repairs. . Abs electronic module failed at 44,000 miles. Replacement part cost $800. 00 plus. The local garage that replaced this for me told me this was the 4th or 5th one he has done. I feel that this part failing for all the more miles that are on this vehicle (with the majority of them being highway miles)constitutes some type of problem.

13 Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2003

2000 Chevrolet Silverado abs brakes. On December 22, I noticed that my antilock brakes would activate at low speeds. At first I thought it was normal because the road might of had some ice. On December 26, 2003, I was in the mall parking lot traveling 3 to 5 miles per hour when I applied the brakes and the pedal went hard. I had to apply both feet to keep from hitting a person in the crosswalk. The problem is that sometime the brakes work fine giving a false sense of security. The dealer betley Chevrolet said that both abs front speed sensors are bad and need to be replaced. The repair cost is over $700. I question that both sensors could go at the same time without it being a safety defect. This truck is 2 wheel drive and has never been off road. Chevrolet has a bulletin for the repair. I question how many people could get injured before Chevrolet fixes the problem.

14 Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problem

2000 Silverado pickup. Brakes will not stop vehicle- slow it down and it rolls to a stop. Low speeds. Happens intermittently- especially during rain or muddy road conditions. Strongly believed to be improper sensing or adjustment by abs system. Do not understand why hawaii not part of recall. Is this a matter of what states sends in the most votes or a matter of safety? gm has a faulty product- I and my family are endangered and I want it fixed- as do others here in hawaii.
