Driving down interstate at 50mph was approaching a traffic ligght which turned yellow stepped on my brakes felt like I wasn't even pushing them pumped a few times the truck startes braking the once again with my foot still on brake pedal it felt like I wasn't stepping on the pedal so pumped again and I almost ended up running a red light with two small children in the truck. With all these complaints for the same problem there should be a recall!!!.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2015

The abs braking system goes stiff at low speeds. I have to jam on the brakes extremely hard in order for them to stop, the brakes eventually will stop after a 3 to five more feet. The abs braking system is extremely dangerous and serves no purpose. The vehicle works better after disabling the abs brake system. Please recall all chevy Silverados and tahoes due to abs braking system issues.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2014

While coming to a stop light going about 25 mile an hour I pressed on the brake pedal and it felt mushy then went all the way to the floor finally stopping before entering a highway with oncoming traffic traveling at 50 miles per hour. Turned around and went home noticed brake fluid coming out under the drivers door. All the lines corroded just a few more feet to stop and it could have been very bad.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2014

Came to a traffic light pulling a travel trailer - pedal went to floor - no brakes at all. The trailer electric brakes was the only way to slow the down. Lines are rusted out.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2014

2000 Chevrolet 1500 z71 4x4 - went to stop at a stop sign and break pedal went to the floor. Had truck towed to the garage and found break lining was rusted out. The truck only had 42,000 original miles on it at the time of incident! garage told me I should have all the break lining replaced do to very rusty and the rest of the lining could break or leak at anytime. After reading all of these other complaints on here about the break lining issues, I very surprised how lucky we all were actually not being in a very serious accident! this needs to be addressed gm before the luck runs out for someone else!.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

I applied my brakes to slow down for the three cars stopping in the lane ahead of me. I started to decelerate and then all of a sudden my brake pedal went to the floor and I had to swerve to avoid rear-ending the car in front of me. Luckily there was no one in the other lane (same direction) so there was no accident but I had to then push the brake all the way to the floor going 10 mph for minimum stopping power.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2012

Attempted to stop at 10 mph driving straight antilock brake system activated, had no brakes, put transmission into 1st gear stopped 1 foot from building. Almost went through plate glass window! I just changed both my front antilock sensor's and had no effect on the loss of the brakes, they just pulsed. Owned this vehicle since 2001 and have had two antilock brake computers replaces at a cost of $800. 00 each time.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2011

No brakes at low speed. A continuation of the problem related to a safety recall. The recall does not perminately fix the problem, just replaces the failed componet with the same parts. The condition appears again in about the same period of time/miles. Had repaired by a gm dealer and receipt shows it is the same issue as recalled. Contacted gm and they refuse to reimburse for the cost the second time stating age/miles of the vehicle is not their problem any more.

Failure Date: 03/29/2010

I have a 2000 chevy Silverado and the anti-lock brake system engages at slow speed on dry pavement frequently. I took it to two different break places and they said they dont touch anti-lock brakes. I just want to get them fixed and get rid of the truck before something happens.

13 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2005

I was driving on a four lane interstate in cruise control going 70 mph. Suddenly I was going down the highway sideways. I slid off the road and hit a highway sign which slowed me and must have jarred something because then I could use my brakes and all four of them seemed to work. I smashed the drivers side door and rocker panel and other damage, probably bent the rim on a tire, had cuts on both hands and had to take my dogs and cat to the vet as they were in shock. I was about 130 to 150 miles from home and thanks to friends was able to get home that evening. The Chevrolet dealership I had it towed to, said they could find no reason for the rear wheels to lock. But according to the dps officer that is what they seemed to do.

The truck has intermittently had brake problems since it was new. What will occur is when applying the brakes below 20 mph the pedal will fade to the floor and you will hear the abs kicking in. The truck will take a very long time to stop. This occurs once a month and has now started to occur weekly if not daily. We are afraid to drive the truck.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2003

When brakes were applied they jerked and were not stopping the vehicle efficiently, there was also a clanking noise noticed while driving the vehicle. Dealer was consulted - he stated that the people who rotated the tires torqued them too much. Went back to dealer who supplied the tires - they replaced the brake linings on the front thinking this would solve the problem - it didn't. They then pulled the rotors and found that the rotors were basically falling apart - the metal was just falling off. Front rotors were replaced. Within a week the back rotors were doing the same - took the vehicle to a local garage, because the brakes were not functioning very well. The rear rotors were in the same if not worse condition. Chevy was contacted. They did not want to acknowledge the problem even though their dealer service manager, backed up the complaint (we took one of the rotors to the service manager to show him. They are not interested in this problem - said that they couldn't be sure the rotors came off of their vehicle. They also did not show any understanding of the seriousness of not having brakes - their attitude was very disconcerting.
