Tailgate Hinge problems of the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado - part 2

While standing on vehicle's tailgate without any indication tailgate disengaged, causing consumer to fall to ground. Consumer stated the cables snapped unexpectedly which appeared to have weakened by corrosion, also the muffler was replaced.

Tailgate cable broke while kneeling on it 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.

Tailgate has fallen off while driving,at 20 mph and 30-35 mph. No accident.

The tailgate straps snapped in half without warning. Two years later a recall was issued on the same part. However, dealer stated this vehicle was not included in the recall due to VIN. Both tail gate straps were replaced.

2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1/2 ton customer was told there was no recall. Customer states that he has not received payment for repair* the passenger side tailgate cable broke due to rust.

Consumer stated both cables holding the lift gate failed simultaneously while hauling bales of straw.

Consumer had the tailgate down when loading up. Consumer climbed onto the tailgate and it broke. Both cables popped on each side. Tailgate has no sign of wear when it broke down. Consumer found out of a recall regarding tailgate (NHTSA recall no. 04v-129), but when calling Chevrolet they said that consumer's VIN is not part of the recall. Even though consumer experienced problems same as stated on the recall.

While placing the lawn mower on the vehicle's tailgate. The vehicles tailgate cables broke. The vehicle has not been taken to the dealer. Please provide further details.

Right tailgate cable broke. The consumer had to replace the cable at his own expense.
