I was stopped at a red light and struck from behind by another smaller vehicle pushing me into a minivan in front of me. On initial impact, the drivers seat was dislodged from the mounting frame. When I hit the minivan in front of me, the airbags did not deploy and my shoulder seat restraint did not engage causing my eye to strike the steering wheel. I have nerve damage as a result of the seat belt not engaging and the airbags not deploying. The vehicle sustained enough damage, including frame damage, that it was considered a total loss. It was 6 weeks old at the time of the incident. I was the only person in the accident who required medical attention. I believe the seat mounting failed, the airbags failed to properly deploy and the shoulder restraint significantly failed. I have pictures indicating the seatbelt fully extended, but did not engage, and will no longer retract. State farm is holding the vehicle pending a possible investigation by NHTSA.

The driver and passenger headrest square in the middle are hard as a rock. I feel in the event of an accident when the occupants head hits the headrest it will definitely cause harm to the back of the persons head. There is next to no cushioning in the center, the sides are soft but not the middle. I feel this is a big safety issue in the event of an accident.

Found that the rear head restraints in the crew cab would not raise high enough to protect an adult size person's head from hitting the glass or getting a severe neck injury in a rear end collision. This is a design flaw for a vehicle marketed as a people mover. I have issued complaints to chevy via web and letter. Older truck (2005) didn't have this flaw in safety as the head restraints could be raised significantly higher. This vehicle should be recalled and a fix mandatory.

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the front passenger head rest was too high and caused the contact's back, neck and head to pain. The dealer and the manufacturer advised that due to federal regulations, the head rest could not be removed but the contact could have the head rest modified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 11,138.

Adjusting front driver seat when adjusting lock broke sending seat sliding forward. Seat will not lock just slides back and forth when driving. Since safety belt restraint is in the seat and not bolted to the actually frame of truck seat slides back and forth during braking and acceleration. Not safe to drive until fixed. The broken piece is a three inch piece of plastic. I really don't feel safe now in knowing that the only thing restraining me from crashing into the steering wheel and into a inflating airbag during a front crash is a piece of plastic that could and will at any time break for no apparent reason except for the fact that Chevrolet has a design flaw and still does not feel they should issue a recall to have this replaced with something that would provide more security than a piece of plastic. And the kicker is the tech at the dealer claims it takes 2. 5 hours to replace the locking adjuster at the rate (my bill was $230 just for the labor) and the part cost ranges from $150 to $200 depending on where you get it. Outrageous if you ask me. I called Chevrolet customer service and was able to get my part for free but still had to pay labor to have it installed. I have a 1999 Silverado but it only has 11,000 on it so the part definitely did not break due to wear and tear. So I guess after a few people are seriously injured or killed maybe someone will actually do something about safety issues such as this and make the manufacturers of these vehicles with safety issue responsible.
