2 Front Seat Recliner problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 10/03/2005

Consumer states the drivers seat slid forward six inches from back, it broke and hit the tilt lever. It causedthe consumer's aunt to have a broken back, and she was paralyzed from the waist down. This happened on October 3, 2005, consumer stated that her aunt had foot on the brakes, but the vehicle accelerated instead of slowing down. There was no forewarning before this happened. At this time consumer has not contacted the dealer or manufacturer.

3 Front Seat Recliner problem of the 1997 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 03/03/2005

While traveling 35 mph,on the highway left front seat collapsed backward then forward. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer. Mechanic determined that the reclining mechanism wore out. This problem has happened twice in a little over one year. The first replacement part only lasted 8000 miles. The consumer believes the part should be recalled.

Tied with a rope, I went to newport ore where we were staying. Blocked seatback with a laundry basket to come home to boise. Feel this is an equipment safety problem.

The entry to the rear seat did not work properly, the passenger side seat was sticking, dealer added lubricant but it still did not work properly, consumers child was exiting the vehicle from the passenger side, once out the truck he placed his hand on the seat and at that moment a passenger in the back seat tripped the lever and the back of the front seat came forward, the hinge of the seat cut the end of the childs finger off, the consumer believes a guard should be placed on the passenger seat hinge like the one on the drivers side seat. Nlm.

While driving on state highay went to apply brakes and driver's seat latching device broke, made seat go forward which caused consumer to go forward into the dashboard, injurying the knees. Contacted the dealer and manufacturer, vehicle still under warranty.

The welds, which attach the bucket seat to the seat tracks, broke. This caused the seat to move back and forth while driving. The welds that attach both front bucket seat to the slide rails are broke. The welds only broke on the front of both seats. When the driver's seat broke it caused the seat to rock into the back and caused the consumer to hit his head on the back window.

The passenger seat doesn't not lock down , it has only one lock on the seat to hold it down. We have contacted starcraft CO. I have been trying for a year and a half to get the seat fixed. They keep sending the wrong parts. If the truck is in a accident I believe the seat will come out of the truck. The truck has starcraft conversion package . The dealership has done all they can do to help us contact starcraft to get this fixed. I hope you can do something before there is an accident.
