37 Suspension problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado

I own a 1999 Silverado ext cab 4x4 and the frame is rott in many different places the driver and passenger mid sections are half gone and now the rear sections under the bed are rotting to the point to where the is no good metal left the bed buckled and is hitting the cab the rest of this vehicle is in very good condition but the frame is gone.

: the contact stated there is a popping noise in the steering and the steering is loose. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where they determined the intermediate steering shaft needed to be replaced. The manufacturer has not been contacted. There was a popping noise when vehicle was moving. Also felt excessive play in steering wheel. Dealer determined there was no problem.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. The vehicle bounced as it went down the road at 50-65 mph. It has been doing this since the contact bought it new. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer will do anything. The contact took vehicle to 2 dealers, and they could not duplicate the problem. They could feel the bounce but "it wasn't that bad". Overall truck drives like a dump truck. Front tires wore in less than 2500 miles. Dealer rotated the tires and a front end alignment and said "try that". Owned a 2002 exact same truck and was a much better ride. Dealer told me " they made the seats more uncomfortable because people were falling asleep at the wheel" can u believe that.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that the front tires were wearing prematurely. The tires were rotated regularly, but the front tires continued to wear prematurely. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the manufacturer designed the front tires to be rotated every 6,000 miles. The contact felt that the suspension was causing the tires to wear prematurely. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 6,000 and the current mileage was 40,400. . . Updated 08-30-12 the consumer stated the tires were rotated every 3,000 miles since the vehicle had 6,000 miles. The dealer and manufacturer offered no repair for the failure. Updated 09/04/2012.

While driving 58 mph steering wheel pulled to the left, causing consumer's vehicle to rear end another vehicle. Consumer had the vehicle towed. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

While driving at highway speeds vehicle started to pinion/smoked, and lost power. Rpms dropped from 60 to 40 in a matter of seconds. This has happened to the consumer a total of three times. The last time there was almost an accident.

When turning at any speed consumer can hear a rattling noise coming from the steering wheel. Vehicle is controllable when this problem happens. At the dealership, mechanic indicated that the problem was coming from the steering column and would need to order parts to correct it. Consumer is still waiting for parts to come in. . . . . . . . . Dealership lndicated that they have hundreds of repair parts on order, but received non e as of 12/28/2004.

Consumer states that the tires on a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado bounced while driving. Consumer took the vehicle to the mechanic to have them balanced, and was told the tires maybe recalled tires. The tires did not have bubbles or splits on them, they just vibrated and bounced while driving. Wilderness at, size p265/75r16. All four tires were balanced time and time again, but the problem still existed.

Front tire prematurely worn on one side dealer replaced rack &pinion ,steering gear that was leaking dealer set toe refused to do full alignment. Rotated tires. At18,100 front tire again worn on one side different dealer installed another remanufactured rack & pinion,steering gear an did a full alignment . Vehicle then had slight vibration transmitted through steering wheel when taken back next day dealer said tires needed replaiced .

When driving at highway speeds there is a strong vibration, and a rattle noise in the rear of vehicle. Took vehicle to dealer and they tightened up some parts, but problem reoccurred. Please provide any further information.

When starting vehicle in the morniings it will make a loud knocking noise that comes from engine. Noise sounds like two pieces of metal hitting each other. This will go on for about 10 minutes before it stops. Contacted dealer, and dealer stated that noise was normal for vehicle.

When vehicle driven 62-65 mph or at hwy speeds, steering wheel will shake and vibrate. Condition worsens when vehicle is driven over bumps or rough conditions. Vibration will continue, once started, until the vehicle is stopped. Startng over sometimes will fix the problem. The dealer rep decribed the problem as "steering dithers" and said they could not fix. Gave me the chevorlet customer service number. Currently I am told the 'avm' form cheverolet (dan satello) will contact me in two weeks. No offer made to assist me in the mean time, in any form. I did ask for a rent car and was refused, also asked if it was safe to drive and recieved no answer. The dealer note on my repair receipt was "no problem at this time" and "could not duplicate the problem".

Severe vibration of truck affecting driveability at speeds of 40-45 and 62-72mph. At highway speds the steering wheel vibrates and at times will be forced out driver's hand if driver does not have a strong grip on the wheel. Vehicle is a safety hazard due to vibration and sudden steering wheel pull and may cause a crash.

The truck started a vibrating/shaking at highway speeds at about 1000 miles. I have been put off and outright lied to about the problem. At times it is so severe that it will cause the cd player to skip. Three different dealers ackowledge the problem is common to these trucks. Chevrolet customer service has tried to blame the dealers for inaction, but I have a local dealer that has been authorized by chevy to try different shocks, springs etc. To solve the problem on other trucks, and has had some success. I only want them to try to do something since nothing has been done up till now. The vibration can be dangerous since it sometimes starts without warning. My wife will not drive the truck at highway speeds.

Vehicle has a vibration/noise from 40mph to interstate speeds. More noticeable with load in cargo area, or 2 passengers in rear seat. Vehicle has been taken to dealership 3 times. Undetermined vibration. Last time vehicle taken in, dealership removed/adjusted/reinstalled dashboard(alleged cause of problem). No fix. Now has wind noise from windhield area at highway speeds. Tires have been rotated, still has noise/vibration at highway speeds. Steering wheel vibrates(shimmies) at highway speeds.
