Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond as the brake and abs warning light illuminated. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake lines failed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,000. Pam.
I had my truck fixed at sear automotive in hunt valley maryland after 3 week after I was promised 1 week. Was told it needed a new rear differential and new brake lines. I got my truck back I lost brakes going down the road and my abs light came on brought my truck back to sears. It was fixed so I was told and I lost brakes aging. And then I brought it back a 3rd time they finally fixed it. But they made me drive my truck with no brakes back tothem. Next my rear differential locked up on 695 and I spun out I brought the truck back to them. They claimed it was out of warranty when the warranty expired well the truck was in the shop. So I started to drive the truck home and 4 wheel drive turned on and my front 2 wheels started dragging along with my back which made my truck come to a stop in the middle of york road. Which auto nation told me that my front differential is bad not the rear that's why it happened.
Rotten brake lines. I looked at the brake lines while changing my oil. My truck has 47k on it. I called gm. They told me that I had to bring it to a dealer. I did. They confirmed that the brake lines are bad and need to be replaced. $1500 also the tranmission cooling lines are leaking. I have been through almost all of the brake problems listed on this web cite. Abs light comes on, twice, 2nd time I replaced the left hub bearing assembly. The 1st time the dealer replaced the front abs sensors. Air bag light comes on, I replaced a bad front air bag sensor, right side. This truck is turning into a money pit!!!!! this new (rotten lines) issue is a safety issue as was the abs issue. Gm needs to do a full recall and replace the brake lines before someone gets killed.
While approaching a one lane bridge on dry, clean pavement at approx 10 mph I attempted to brake to line up with the bridge. The vehicle failed to brake, with the abs light coming on and stayed on and a loud noise came from the the passenger side front wheel well. I closely missed hitting the rail of the bridge (which would have been a 20ft plunge off the bridge) and the vehicle continued for another 20 to 25 ft while on the slight down hill graded slope. No matter how I pushed the brake pedal the brakes failed to respond and I utilized my training as an emergency apparatus driver and placed the vehicle into a lower gear and drifted it into an embankment to stop. I then backed the vehicle out of the embankment and the vehicle operated fine but the abs light remains on. As I see with other posts this is an obvious problem with the silverado that needs to be addressed immediately.
At 45,000 mi. Abs began activating, at slow speed, when stopping. Abs light was not lite and brakes were effective. Based on the c0040 diagnostic code, replaced rt front hub/abs sensor assy. At a cost of $400. Eventually, all hub sensors began giving false indications. Was told by dealer it was attributed to a defective design, but there was no bulletin or recall to remedy the problem. Cannot afford to replace all hubs if it is only going to happen again. Gm should make good on these repairs.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving at approximately 5 mph the contact heard a grinding sound coming from the exterior of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostics. The mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. The abs light illuminated on the instrument panel and there was an abs warning sound. The contact stated the abs system activates unexpectedly and the vehicle slides forward while driving. The vehicle had not been repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
The contact owns a 2006 chevy Silverado 1500. The contact stated when he applied the brake at a stop sign and the abs sensor light illuminated and the vehicle continued an extra ten feet before stopping. The failure had recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and was informed that the abs sensor and the hubs would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 70,000.
Low speed activation of abs braking system causing extended stopping distances and/or no stopping at all. No abs system codes set. No abs light comes on. Dealer checked it out and said the front abs sensors were bad. I replaced both sensors, with the same problem existing, if not worse. The left sensor is available, but the right one was broken during removal and thrown away. I did not know I would need it. This happens every time the vehicle is driven and the brakes applied at low speed to come to a stop. There was a recall for earlier models of my vehicle and I believe my model year should be included as well as others. This is a dangerous situation. I think it should be repaired, recalled or resolved to the complete satisfaction of all involved!.
