1 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2016

As I come to a stop, the brake pedal pulsates from abs activation increasing braking time and distance. The ground is dry while this happens. After a while the and light comes on. Was told by a dealer mechanic it was a bad abs sensor and to replace hub. I did and now, two years later, it is happening again. Now I'm being told it is a problem with elements in my area, being in a snowbelt state, getting into wheel speed sensor and blocking signal. Same exact symptoms as last time, different diagnosis. Neither time did they plug into my truck for codes. Both times, I have to open my wallet for faulty products.

2 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2013

The wheel speed sensor for the abs system is affected on multiple trucks chevy produced from 99-06. This causes the braking below 10 mph to cause pulsation and abs malfunctioning causing me to almost rear end vehicles and be unable to slow down correctly. Chevy knows of the issue yet it is not a recall for my vehicle.

3 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

Experienced braking failure and activation of anti-lock brakes when braking at low speeds. This causes longer braking times and distances and I have narrowly avoided hitting cars in front of me, running stop signs, etc. On numerous occasions. After researching this phenomenon, it is known as unintended low speed abs activation - a common problem for older model gm trucks. Additional research has revealed that it is a common problem for 2006 silverados, yet it has yet to be addressed by the manufacturer. It is commonly the result of an increased air gap between the wheel speed sensor and hub reluctor ring due to rust and debris build up on the sensor mounting surface. This is a serious hazard that needs to be addressed for silverado trucks from rust-belt states.

4 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2011

My truck has had 2 sets of brakes 4 wheel speed sensors another set of calipers and new tires. The brake locked pulling my boat thank god it was raining outside . The sterring wheel is shaking, I got another alinement that did not help, so I went to see the wheels need balanced and it did not take care of sterring wheel shaking. I really dont like the my water spilling in the drink holer because my truck is shaking. Help me if you see this soon. I see allot of people out there in the world of chevy that has the same issuses I have had with my truck. Every time I turn around I have to take my truck to get it repair, all out of warrenty 5600 miles. The noise that my steering column makes everyone says not to worry. My rims are so pitted on my truck it looks like poop. You know what I paid $33,000 for this chevy truck and I dont like noise that is not suspose to be there/one mechencil said he couled fill my column with grease but that would last. Its a joke spending this much money for a bad lemon by chevy. .

5 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2010

A problem exist with my 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 lt. When braking at low speeds, the low speed sensor causes the abs system to engage. When the abs system engages, the vehicle does not stop where intended. The vehicle travels around 5 feet further then it would under normal braking conditions, depending on speed. This happens only at low speeds(under 10mph) and every time the vehicle attempts to come to a complete stop. I have not tried to repair the problem. I have been told by a mechanic that the low speed sensors are dirty, and need to be cleaned or replaced. I have found other people complaining of this same problem with this model of vehicle. I feel this is a safety concern, do to a possibility of delayed braking. Although I have not been personally involved in an accident, I am concerned that this problem exists. Delayed braking can cause a vehicle to be involved in rear-end collisions, or to unintentionally enter intersections.

6 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2010

Please note mileage on this vehicle at time problems began was at 37,000. Brake pedal was traveling to the floor at speeds below 10 mph causing abs light to come on and pedal to move up and down. More allowance in stopping distance was required. May 2010 - had to install new brake pads in the front and shoes in the rear. The rotors and slides were extremely corroded for a 4 year old vehicle with 37,000 miles. October 2011 took vehicle to gm certified service center for the continuing abs issue. Corrosion was a main factor in causing the speed sensors to fail. Diagnostic scan showed left wheel sensor bad. However, once replaced, they soon discovered right wheel sensor bad also. Both sensors had to be drilled out due to corrosion. When the service department went to replace the right wheel sensor, the wheel sensor they had in stock was defective. Defective parts in stock does say something about the product. The truck was kept overnight while a new "set" of wheel sensors was ordered. Cost of diagnostic was $74. 50. Set of wheel sensors was $505. Labor, tax and "misc charges" total $313. 50 for a grand total of $893. 19. The msrp on this vehicle at time of purchase was $34,000. Our vehicles are garaged, kept clean. We are the sole owner of this truck. We do not live in chicago where we have to chip salt off our vehicles. This is the first vehicle we have ever experienced with this issue; therefore, we feel the parts are inferior and a recall should be in place. Thank you. After talking with gm customer service center, there were recalls on older vehicles 1999-2005 (certain models) with the same issue, but nothing was noted on models from 2006 or newer. The gm certified service center stated that they do replace abs wheel sensors pretty frequently.

7 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2009

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 25 mph the abs warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel, and then there was a loud noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The technician stated that the wheel speed sensor would have to be cleaned. Since the repair, the sensors were cleaned four times. The repairs have not remedied the failure. The failure mileage was 22,300.

8 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2009

Unwanted abs activation on 2006 Chevrolet silverado truck due to defective/corroded hub/bearing assembly-wheel speed sensor. Unwanted abs activation between 4 and 10 mph thereby increasing stopping distance. Gm issued a recall for prior model years of same vehicle with the same issue under #05068c: product safety - front wheel speed sensor corrosion - ( March 6, 2008).
