Carrier/rack problems of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - part 2

Substandard material and installation methods directly resulted in defects in the dash board and associated sub assemblies. The mentioned has been recorded within 4 years of manufacture date and has progressed to its current state with large holes developing with major cracking and to the extent causing sub assemblies such as the steering column cover and upper glove box to disintegrated and fall off of its mounting locations. The concern is that upon deployment of airbags, plastic shards can become sub sonic projectiles causing sever injury, even death .

Dash is crack in several places. Sharp pieces could be very dangerous in the event of an accident and the air bags deploy.

Cracked dash!! my 2007 chevy silverado dash is crumbling to pieces. . I'm worried if the passenger airbag goes off, pieces of plastic will impact the passenger. . Gm should really fix this.

I have a 2007 chevy silverado quad cab lt(new body) over the past 4 years my dash has slowly began to crack in multiple places. The one places that worries me the most is I have a 4 in crack right about my passenger side airbag. This is very worrisome to me because it makes me wonder if this will cause the airbag to deploy prematurely. Also there is multiple cracks on the driver side so bad that a piece the size of a half dollar crack off and fell inside my dash somewhere. I have contacted gm about this problem and was told it wasn't there problem. Since making this complaint I have been in contact with well over 1,000 other gm owners that have the exact problem and it doesn't just affect the silverado. It also affects the yukon, avalanche, sierra and tahoe. I think this problem truly needs to be addressed. It truly is a serious problem that needs to be addressed immediately.

I have a 2007 silverado. . . I noticed back in 2010 that the dash was cracked at the air bag area above the glove compartment but after doing some research it seems this is a common problem among these new body style years. 2014. . . My dealer offered me a repair discount of 20% which I thought was absurd !!!.

Dashboard cracking.

Dashboard plastic is cracking near the passenger airbag and above the instrument cluster. This is a very common defect in silverados, tahoe's, denalis, etc from the years 07-13. The concern (other than poor quality) is debris breaking loose in an accident if the passenger airbag deploys and causing serious injury or death. General motors denies that this is a defect and is claiming that it is caused by the owners using cleaning products such as armor all on their dash. This is, of course, nonsense. Many owners have never used any cleaning products and still have the same cracks in the same places. The real problem is a lack of tolerance in the plastic mounting points which does not allow any room for expansion/contraction in the heat and cold. The dash is cracking in several different places an gm needs to do something about it.

The dash is cracked all over posing a safety hazard if a wreck occurred. I bought this truck new in 2007 and the cracking started happening about one year later and worsened over time.

The dash of the truck has several cracks and is getting worse.

Dashboard is cracked manufacture defect.

Defective tow hitch class iv receiver, after hearing of many problems with the factory gm hitch I inspected mine and it is cracked in 2 places, if I hadn't caught it there could have been a uncoupling of trailer due to hitch failure. I will be replacing this with an aftermarket hitch that is from a reputable company. Hitch is available for review.
