The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal, pungent odor coming from the vehicle. The contact was unsure if any warning lights were illuminated. On a separate occasion, the vehicle drove roughly with an abnormal sound coming from the engine. Additionally, the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact had to add seven quarts of oil for every 3,000 miles driven. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the active fuel management (afm) system had failed. The engine was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
No crank no start however engine just shit down while driving immediately lost all control of vehicle! luckily I had just pulled off highway! no warning whatsoever it just happened out of no where now won’t start and has a u0100 code.
The active fuel management lifters can cause catastrophic failures by getting stuck in the closed position causing low oil pressure, misfiring, and ticking due to the entire afm system making the camshaft and valve train wear faster. It is available for inspection upon request. My safety is put at risk due to the possibility of causing accidents or leaving me stranded in an extreme environment. Issues with afm (active fuel management) systems in certain gm vehicles have been widely reported and confirmed by both dealers and independent service centers. Specifically, afm lifter failures and related issues, particularly in older models, are common diagnose the vehicle component has not been inspected by anyone. There was a low oil pressure warning light along with lifter tick prior to failure and first appeared at around 160k miles.
Cylinder 6 misfire. The mechanics have replaced everything that could be triggering the cylinder 6 misfire and still it is having problems they said the only way to fix it is to replace the engine but I should not have to replace an engine with low miles and that has been babied. I have also looked on multiple sites with people who own the same truck and all have the same exact problem with the same cylinder. Something needs to be done about this issue especially if it’s a reoccurring one, either have a recall on it and fix it or something.
The truck has the 5. 3l engine which is dod equipped and the dod system causes lifters to fail and can ultimately destroy the engine while driving I had a lifter go bad and it causes the truck to run rough and smoke it's a major issue that happens in the 5. 3l v8 engines something needs to be done cause it's causing major problems for any truck equipped with the dod system.
The trucks equipped with dod system also known as active fuel management in the v6 and the v8 engines cause the truck to consume more oil and cause lack of oil to the lifters which then fail and cause the truck to lose power and smoke really bad and can cause the truck to die while driving and when you love engine power it can cause an accident it's also can cause the more internal engine problems I have reported this issue before for and nothing has happened then problem needs to be fixed is a design flaw and can cause an accident which could also get someone killed along with the bad airbag on passenger side gm needs to take responsibility and fix this issue please for the safety of anyone who drives the the vehicles with the v6 or 5. 3l v8 please get this issue recalled.
After buying this used truck from gm certified dealership having advanced inspection before we took home 3 months in first start of the day about 7am, 5-10min into driving, no mil light, truck engine shut off hard to pull over and I tried to restart but wouldn't start. After waiting an hour for a tow truck I tried once more and it fired up. Cancelled tow drove home fine. But it did it a few more random times while driving until oct. Now it sits. Its scary when theres no mil indicating a problem, but this is a problem and safety during travel. It wont start after 7 month ownership ,mil light is now on saying u0100. Bought 4/2021.
Factory paint defect on roof, some rust from center roof light area, also cracked dashboard.
Motor and oil problem.
I have had an issue with my 2007 chevy silverado jerking with a hard thump while accelerating. At first it was diagnoses as a faulty throttle body. Replaced the throttle body. Now it intermittently pulls hard when accelerating at any speed. This cannot be safe. Dealerships cannot figure out the issue and I am having trouble googling any specific reason. Many people have this same issue with little to resolution. This is intermittently so it the stabilitrac and traction control lights come on and off within minutes. It was happening a few times a weeks and now it is happening a few times a day. This cannot be good for the safety of the vehicle on the road or the people in it.
New engine placed in vehicle because loss of power. Since then vehicle looses all power in the midst of driving. Alarm also goes off without notice. New battery, then new alternator, and now new engine battery cables. Was told no power to engine then too much power. About $1,500. 00 out of pocket to get fixed. Truck continues to shut off and loose all power when driving in the city.
Takata recall. Air bag light came on. Cluster reads service airbag system.
C1500 at times when stopping will shut down, all lights on the dash board will light up and whole truck will shake. Took to chevy dealer ship they said needed new motor. . Already put top end of motor in 1 1/2 years ago - same thing is happening now but they say needs new motor. Let truck set for several days, crank it and it seems to be ok. But don't know when it will do it again. If needed a new motor it would not crank and drive. Chev. Dealership was going to charge $6,000 for new motor and labor. And obviously that is not what is wrong with it. 08132018.

Hey. I have a code p0011 on my truck and it shifts hard into second gear if I drive it for like 2 or 3 miles the light will go out and everything works fine and I've change the camshaft position sensor. Just wondering if you might have an answer? and when the light is on and says service traction control and stabilitrak.

Was driving my 2007 chevy Silverado 1500 about 40 mph when the door locks started locking and unlocking, all warning lights were flashing, speedometer would read then drop out the read again. Engine temporarily was shutting off then coming back on. Tried to accelerate to get it off the road and felt like transmission was affected but may have been because the was the engine was shutting off and on. Got home shut key off and lost all electrical power and could not restart. I was a gm tech so went into garage for a battery tester hooked it up and battery load tested good shut hood went to go back inside truck and power came back on and started right up. Has happened twice since then. Asked other gm techs still working at dealers and said they've never heard of problems like this happening.

This is a recurring problem- my vehicle (purchased brand new by me) while cruising on the highway will start to try and cut off while driving. The door locks will pop up and down, the dash gauges power on and off, the headlamps flash on and off, etc. . . Last week the vehicle completely shut down while doing this and I had to coast to the side of the road. This happened three times in 48 hours.

2007 chevorlet Silverado 1500 2wd v8 4. 8l, engine fire. Fire department & insurance company both do not believe there was fraud or arson. Total loss. The vehicle was parked outside of my residence on the residential driveway at about 3:50a. M. We heard a blow which was the tire in the front driver's side. We called police plus fire department. The engine front part of truck plus the 2 tire's in front and engine caught on fire. The hood still on, and the windows did not break. The inside of the vehicle good just wet after the fact. Fire report says area of fire origin was the engine area, running gear, wheel area. Item first ignited was the pipe, duct, conduit & hose covering. It was about 2:30a. M. Same day we got home. It had not been 2 hours that we drove the vehicle. It was parked and the ignition off when this fire started. My driver and passenger door must have unlocked and the back driver and passenger doors stayed locked because when the fire department put out fire the doors were that way. I have a 6 year old daughter that rides in the back seat. The fire department said the fire started drivers side/engine. This is a very terrifying time. I'm scared to even purchase a truck anymore. We could have been in the vehicle, my husband and I plus our daughter. I used to drive my truck with the thought that I was safe in it for the size of it and that it was a chevy, but now I can't even have that thought cross my mind. Your not safe anywhere, not even in your vehicle because not only if there is a car wreck, a drunl driver hits you, someone failed to stop at a stop sign and hit you, now if your ignition is in the off position your truck can catch on fire, at your residence, parked in a garage, parked beside other vehicles, and who knows the fire could have started as I and my family were in it too. Your not safe. Insurance CO pays the value and book closed. I have no vehicle to show for those 3 years. No fraud no arson and no vehicle. And nothing done. It's not right.
This 2007 Chevrolet silverado has only 73,730 miles . The vehicle in question has an oil consumption issue and is available for inspection upon request. An oil consumption issue will lead to low oil and low oil pressure which can lead to a fire. Problem has been confirmed by an independent service center. Vehicle has been inspected by a certified automotive technician. Vehicle loses oil close to 100 miles and the add engine oil display on the driver information center. Every trip that is close to 100 miles will cause oil consumption and the add engine oil will display. Vehicle was taken to a repair shop and I was informed that some Chevrolet silverado trucks engines will consume oil due to excessive amount of oil going to the pistons. The pistons result with damage to the piston rings and will need to be replaced. In the long run the engine will lose power start to smoke lose oil pressure and low compression which could lead to a fire . No recall was ever posted concerning this issue. I thought the consumption was due to viscosity breakdown until I noticed it got worse. I did some research and asked several silverado owners and they all had the same issue. I confirmed the issue when I took the vehicle to the technician. This vehicle only has 73,730 miles and I am the first owner.
