At 4200 miles the front right disc brake was damaged beyond repair. The mechanic stated that the front left showed normal wear and that it still have more than 50% left on the pad. The right front caliper was not retracting and caused the brake to run compressed for a long time hence causing unrepairable damage to the rotor. The dealer service did not inform me of the defective caliper, only that they needed to replace the rotor and brakes, never mentioned that the left side was normal. Is there a recall for brake calipers on this vehicle??.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 85 mph, there was an uncontrollable vibration coming from underneath the vehicle near the transmission. On several occasions, while driving various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to slow down or stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle occasionally also pulled to the left or the right when the brake pedal was depressed. Furthermore, while driving, the vehicle stalled and shut off on four separate occasions. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to wommack Chevrolet (currently known as north park Chevrolet castroville, located at 1955 us-90, castroville, TX 78009, (830) 931-9200) where it was diagnosed that the brake calipers, brake pads, brake lines, and torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact was advised to turn off the abs and traction control and the vehicle would perform better; however, the contact refused.
