1 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2020

Brakes start failing ( brake pedal hard) when parking after driving.

2 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2020

Silverado 1500. While moving at slow speed, like in line at a drive thru, the brakes will sometimes get real hard to push petal to bring vehicle to stop. It happens in reverse moving slow and its extremely uncomfortable when I'm backing boat in boat ramp and the brakes fail to a point that I have to stand on the petal and engage parking brake so I don't lose my truck and trailer into the water. I happened once about 6 months ago but didn't do it again til a March 1 and has happened 4 times since. Thanks for your time and consideration.

3 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2019

First off the brakes have failed on me a bunch of times. I brought it to the dealer before the recalls started and they said it was normal. The problem got worse causing two low speed accidents with no damage but scary. Note I have two kids in the car. Been in for multiple recalls. One accident happened in a drive thru and one in my driveway. Both were front end collisions but no damage. Second the truck shakes at higher speeds. Starting at 24mph up to 80. My kids teeth shatter in the back. That's how bad it is. Dealers said there is no fix for that so I started by re balancing my tires and after that didn't work I got new tires. Still have the issue and its more of a headache to bring it into the dealer cause they don't want to fix it or can't. Currently on 40,000 miles on my truck and already had a multitude of issues with oil pump failure, steering column replaced due to moving horizontal. Seat issues they couldn't fix so had to replace the bracket and brakes are ongoing.

4 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2019

On 09/27/19 while driving my vehicle home from dinner with my children my brakes went out completely close to a mile from our home. The vehicle was in motion while this happened and we were on a highway. Significant force had to be exerted on the brake pedal to force the truck to slowly come to a stop. Had we been in heavier traffic there is no doubt that this brake vacuum pump failure would have resulted in a crash involving other vehicles. When I contacted the dealership, richard kay superstore in anderson SC, they stated their was a recall for a re-calibration of the braking system that if left unchecked could cause a failure of the vacuum pump. At the time the vehicle was three years old and the recall was issued 25 days prior to my incident. The total cost to repair the vacuum pump was $705. 96. I am very disappointed that Chevrolet has not recalled the vacuum pump assembly. It is clear to me that the calibration failure is causing these pumps to wear out too quickly. . . Or the pump themselves may actually be faulty as well. Regardless, the calibration should be required as well as a replacement of the vacuum pump at no charge to the consumer. This will prevent injury and potentially the loss of life.

5 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2019

Hard brake pedal and near complete brake failure at low speeds due to faulty vacuum pump for brake booster. Vacuum pump unable to provide enough vacuum to brake booster causing very hard pedal at low speeds and stop and go traffic. Vehicle is well maintained with approx 52,500 miles.

6 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2019

Vehicle brakes fail when traveling at low speeds. Brake pedal will not depress and truck will not stop. Failures happen in forward and reversed. Problem is reoccurring.

7 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2019

Near brake failure at low speed like coming to a stop sign, garage door, etc. Very hard to push pedal. Almost hit several cars. Ticking noise in engine compartment.

8 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2019

At low speed my brakes seem to have failed. The brake pedal is very hard and I almost drove into oncoming traffic.

9 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2018

2016 silverado crew cab, 3rd one I have purchased from this dealership. In December of 2018 , with 57094 miles on it, the truck had a power brake failure while being parked. Took the truck to the local dealer who said it was not under warranty. Passed on having the worked done there and brought it to my local repair shop where they diagnosed it as a problem with the power brake booster pump. The bill came to $384. 33, which I paid with a credit card. On may 7th, 2019, I received notification from gm that there was a problem with the brake booster pump on the 2016 silverado. The letter instructed those who had a repair made already to submit the following information in order to receive partial/total reimbursement: -name and address of the person who paid for the repair. -the VIN number of the vehicle that was repaired. -description of the problem, the repair performed and who performed the repair. -the total cost of the repair expense that is being requested. -proof of payment for the repair in question and date of payment. I was able to gather all this information and present it to the dealer from whom I had purchase the truck. I was informed that the signed credit card receipt that was attached to the bill was not sufficient as proof of payment (works when I go to a restaurant). The dealer stated that gm requires a copy of my credit card bill for that time period. This means they would also have my credit card number, a list of every purchase I made in that time period. What payments I had made and any outstanding debt. I declined to give the dealer this information. Called gm customer service and worked up to the supervisor level and got the same response. The wanted my credit card statement. I told the supervisor that I thought the request was very intrusive and again, declined to provide it.

10 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2018

Power brake failure. Lost brakes pulling into parking space. Parking space barrier stopped the truck. Brakes began to work again after letting truck sit and restart engine. Very dangerous! took vehicle to dealer and they found the vacuum pump failed internally. Dealer would not cover repairs for faulty vacuum pump despite safety issue. Total cost was $724+tax. Only 43,000 miles on truck. Gm knows about the problem and will not address. Service bulletin pit5361b.

11 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2018

On three occasions my 2016 chevy silverado ltz z71 brakes failed to work. The first time I rolled half way into a intersection before I came to a stop. The second time was at an singnal controlled intersection. After both of these incidents the brakes started working perfect and I was not sure if there was a problem or not. The other day this happened agsin but this time I was in a parking lot. I was able to test the brakes and as I went back and forth I had trouble coming to a stop as I pressed the brake pedal as hard as I could. I brought the truck to chevy service and was told the brake vacuum pump or something like that was failing. They stated I was just out of warranty and I'm responsible for the cost. I don't feel like I should I do be responsible for a part that they said is not supposed to fail. This is also concerning if there are other chevy truck out on the road that randomly will not be able to stop.

12 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2018

On 3 separate occasions, my brakes failed me causing me to almost crash. The first time, I was stopping at a stop sign from going less than 5mph (I was inching up after about 10 cars were in front of me). I had my foot on the brake the whole time and never accelerates and all of a sudden, the truck wouldn't stop. I was on about a very slight downhill (maybe 1 degree). It felt like the brakes became slippery and just sounded awful. I came within a few inches of the car in front of me and almost rear ended them. The next occasion, I was going downhill and to the left and has to stop. The truck did the same thing where the power brakes seemed to fail or the brakes just didn't want to work. This time I was going about 35mph and had to swerve into the wrong lane to avoid crashing. Thankfully nobody was coming otherwise I would have had to rear end the person in front of me. I was probably 5 or 6 car lengths behind him when we both hit the brakes at the same time. The 3rd time this happened was this morning in the same spot as the second incident. This time, I was testing the brakes. I'm very scared that something is going to happen because of this and would like to get this fixed ASAP. I bought this gm certified vehicle about 1 month ago and should be in good mechanical condition. These 3 incidents happened in a 10-14 day span and 2 times in the past 3 days.

13 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2018

The brakes have failed to stop the vehicle in 2 separate occasions in speeds less than 5 mph. The has been reviewed by a certified Chevrolet mechanics and they since they cannot replicate the issue, they don't feel it is a major concern. I want to ensure that others are aware as I have stopped driving the vehicle due to the safety concern. I am currently working with Chevrolet to turn the vehicle back into them since I do not feel safe driving it.

14 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2018

I own a 2016 silverado with a faulty brake vacuum pump. The issue was rectified by a gm dealer, and service records are attached. I am filing a compliant to ensure NHTSA is aware of a dangerous defect in this truck. The issue became apparent over the course of weeks. Initial problems included an audible clicking noise once the brake was depressed. As the problem progressed the vehicle would not be able to brake when trying to brake on inclines as flat as 2 degrees. In fact, brakes would fail and abs would kick in when backing out of my driveway. Youtube video summarizes issue https://m. Youtube. Com/watch?v=0krkyevbcu0.

15 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2018

I am having brake assist failure at all speeds. It is impossible to stop without applying full force. The abs clicking can be heard and felt while trying to apply brakes. This system failed going down a mountain pass with a camper behind us and children in the back seat. The service brake assist light was displayed.

16 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2018

The brakes fail(periodically) at low rpm due to vacuum booster pump failure. Typically happens when moving slowly at idle - rolling down a driveway etc.

17 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2018

The truck can not be driven safely. Visit dealer about 10 times and they don't have a clue of how to fix this safety problems. This vehicle is listed under recall by gm and dealer has not been able to fix. ## VIN passed ## Chevrolet 2016 ##.

18 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2017

I'm having brake booster failure at slow speeds, the brake petal is super hard to push down and it almost isn't enough to make the truck stop rolling at slow speeds. Truck has right at 43,xxx miles on it and is not under warranty.
