I bought the 1st truck in December. The brakes failed on orange blossom trail in orlando. Brakes would not stop vehicle and the dash light up like a christmas tree. I took it to the dealer and they said it needed a master cylinder but could not get it because chevy was on strike. I traded in and got a second vehicle. They did the recall on it before I took it and then the brakes failed so I took it into the dealer. They did an update on it and I left with it the same day. About a month later the brakes failed. . . First time on 436 in orlando florida I was behind a school bus and they went out. Luckily I was far enough behind it I could get pulled over. Second time I was on sr434 and 17/92 in longwood at a red light. I took it to the dealer and they said it needs a new master cylinder. Keep in mind this is the second truck. 2019 chevy Silverado 1500. I tried to trade it back in to get out of the 1500 into a 2500 and they wanted me to take a $17,000 hit. Chevy would not do anything to help me. I have made two total payments on it . I paid 50k and owe 44327. 00 on it.
On the evening oif 1/11/20, I went to the parking lot and started my truck and multiple warnings came up on the info center for the brakes - brake system failure max speed 62mph; service trailer brake system; service esc. Check engine light was also illuminated. I turned the truck off, restarted it and received the same message. I was able to slowly drive the truck the three miles to my house with very limited braking capability. When my husband went out to check the truck 15 minutes later, the brakes had returned but the check engine light was still illuminated. I took the vehicle to a local dealer first thing Monday morning and was advised today that they diagnosed a premature failure of the master cylinder. This after the software update in the previous recall had been completed approximately two weeks prior. The service adviser noted this has been a common issue after the software update and has been happening across the country. I believe this needs to be a nationwide recall if the current software update is causing the master cylinder to fail at this rate.
