The truck is having random brake failure to the degree that it will not stop and the dash lights - up with several warnings ie; abs , traction control , speed limited . Took the vehicle in to the local dealer and they looked at it , charged $140. 00 to tell us that it needs a $2000. 00 brake master cylinder assembly. I am aware that this truck has had multiple brake issues that g. M. Was aware of and dealers have thrown many different things at it to try to correct the issue from software update [s] , the first one caused more issues , to replacing the master cylinder assembly under warranty because of glitches ! it is not right for g. M. To ask the owner of a vehicle with known serious brake issues to pay for the unit to be repaired. This has been going on for the last 13-15 months !!!.
The electronic brake system failed and three error messages appeared on the dashboard. This occurred as I was pulling in my driveway while still in motion. These errors have also happened previously, in December 2019 and June 2020. Both previous times the malfunctions were fixed by the dealer. This issue causes the power brake system to not function and makes it very difficult to stop the truck.
Purchased vehicle new 7/5/20 (65 miles). 7/6/20 (95 miles), driving vehicle through neighborhood when service engine soon (ses) light came on-no other lights on ip cluster-drove to john l sullivan Chevrolet (jls) to have inspected-found c25a2 code and programmed electronic brake control module (ebcm). 7/18/20, backing vehicle up at about 5 mph(187 miles) ses light on again-checked code-c25a2-had brake system failure message flash on information center once. Contacted jls for tow-jls verified code, but no light on, and stated Chevrolet is aware of problem, but no fix available. States problem occurs when parking vehicle, and no park brake applied (stated ebcm sees wheel speed with key off, triggering code)-no other brake system indicators or warnings have come. This vehicle is brand new, with less than 200 miles.
06/26/2020 I was involved in an accident where my brakes failed. I have had all previous recalls, and one of the recalls made the brake failure worse than the origional brake recalls. I was following at a safe distance when the car if ft of mr stopped quickly. I applied hard brake pressure(easily enough pressure to properly stop) but pressing hard the truck slowed down but at full hard push brake pedal my truck a chevy silverado 2020 just wouldnt stop correctly. There is a current recall for this issue I'm finding out now that it has happened to me. My truck has been taken into shop but I need to know my options and where to go from here. I've advised my insurance CO of this recall defect and have contacted my attorney to seek damages.
On may 22, 2020, my husband joel f magana llamas was driving on foothill Ave in fontana, CA towards cherry Ave and he then attempted to brake, the brakes did not respond and a message of system brake failure appeared and all the message lights on the dashboard came on. As he could not brake, he went through red lights and stop accelerating the truck until slowing down. He was then able to get into a gas station as the truck was slowing down and shift the truck to parking. The check engine light came on. My husband took the truck to the dealer on may 23, 2020 and after explaining what happened to the service representative, he indicated that they could not service the truck as an appointment was needed. My husband then waited until the appointment date on 06/06/20 for the truck to be service. On 12/21/19 the truck was service for brake system failure recall and this incident happened to my husband. This was a traumatic situation and we do not feel confortable driving the truck. There were no major injuries and hope that this never happens. I hope there is something that can be resolve as people's lives should to be place at risk of being injured. A complaint was file with gm however they denied the repurchase of the truck.
Upon starting my truck the brake system failure 62 mph top speed warning appeared, service esc and service trailer brakes. My check engine light illuminated. I turned off my truck waited a couple minutes restarted the warnings did not appear but my check engine light is still illuminated. I drove approximately 5 miles did not exceed 40mph I drove with extreme caution and arrived home safely. It was brought to my attention that there is a current recall that is the result from a software update that was done by the dealership when my truck was being serviced in Dec 2019 for a recall. The new recall could result in a crash.
Tl-the contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet silverado. The contact stated while driving at various speeds the brakes failed. The contact stated the ecs light illuminated prior to the failure. Truck was recalled due to braking issue, took in and had recall performed. After recall brakes failed, took it back to dealership. Returned for pickup and brade pedal went to the floor. Left it again for repair. Picked it up after this and within a few days of getting the truck back from the dealer the brakes failed and we were involved in a crash. We were unable to stop and hit another vehicle. Significant damage. The vehicle was moving along a roadway and when another vehicle suddenly pulled in front of our vehicle the brakes were applied and failed causing us to crash.
My brakes failed at 3500 miles on my 2019 silverado. The dealer performed an update #n192268091 on the vehicle and told me that this had an 80 percent chance of taking care of the brakes not failing in the future, leaving a 20 percent chance that they will fail again. This to me is unacceptable to me and my family. Now when I drive this vehicle I get chest pains and just don't want it anymore. Please help me!.
Started my vehicle and the following messages came up immediately: brake system failure 62 mph top speed, service esc, and service trailer brake system. Other lights were illuminated on the dash, such as check engine, esc, abs and parking brake. Without turning off the vehicle, I thought it was important to get the vehicle to the dealer immediately as for them to see the vehicle in it's current state. While driving to the dealer the brakes where not fully functional. I would press the brake fully down and it would coast to a stop. Depending on the speed would determine how far it would coast before it would stop. It was a very scary situation. Brake pedal had pressure but the brakes would not start to active until fully pressed. Even then the stop was very slow and would coast. Example, driving out of my office drive to the man road at 5-10mph it coasted a good 30-60 ft. Once the pedal was fully engaged. Vehicle has 667 miles.
Out of nowhere multiple warning lights illuminated. Esc, brake system failure, trailer brake failure, do not go over 62 mph. Brakes were near non functioning.
Brake system failure vehicle speed limited to 100 kph ecs failed . Brake recall and seat belt recall performed Dec 28 2019 error trailer brake requires service never towed with this vehicle resolve pending vehicle as at a local dealer . 4160 kilometer on vehicle.
On January 22, 2020 I started the vehicle with using the mychevrolet phone app. I got into the truck and pushed the ignition button. The following three warnings appeared on the instrument panel: 1) brake system failure 62 mph top speed, 2)service trailer brake system, 3) service esc abs, brake, traction control, and check engine lights illuminated. I turned the vehicle off and turned it back on again using the ignition button and all warnings and lights cleared except the check engine remained illuminated. The vehicle was parked when all of this happened. I received an email from onstar reporting that an issue with the antilock braking system was detected. This vehicle had just been into the dealer the prior week to fix one recall associated with the battery cable, and two other recalls associated with the brakes.
Reduced ability to brake my truck almost caused accident. . Warning light popped up abs, brake, traction control with warnings going across dash like brake system failure 62 mph top speed, service trailer brakes. Codes c0021 p0606,& p25a2. Had update for this problem a couple weeks ago and it was suppose to fix this the dealership said over the phone when called today. Never had this problem before . I am pretty sure that update just updates the messaging letting the driver know he or she is about to die. Taking it into dealer later today. Zf trw integrated brake control (ibc) had early manufacturing issue leaving metal shaving in the units. These shaving would score the walls and damage units,no ones investigating this issue because it would cost gm too much to replace all ibcs in every truck during early stages of the t1 launch. Trw knows of this issue and has piles of these sitting on engineers desks. There needs to be a recall on all early production t1 truck to replace these ibcs. Gm has only been replacing these on a case by case bases when someone reports this problem and their VIN number falls within trw suspected problem dates. By this time its too late and can cause an accidents.
After remote start mychev app vehicle stationary four dash messages service esc service trailer brake brake system failure - 62 mph top speed steering assist reduced drive with care lights on dash that were illuminated abs check engine brake traction control tried to drive. Brakes and steering limited could not drive unsafe turned off ignition restarted threw five codes including p0606 c0021 p25a2 called onstar, they said all systems showing failed take to dealer called gm- they said to have it towed remote start again- same messages dealer appt tomorrow.
Vehicle brakes were mushy and the check engine symbol displayed on the dash as was the symbol for steering ( wavy lines under a car picture), also these three codes were scrolling on the dash: brake system failure 62 mph top speed, service trailer brake system, service esc. These issues repeated on three separate occasions. Each time I took it to a Chevrolet authorized dealership repair shop where I was told the issue was resolved. Two different shops were used for three " repairs". The issues came up after I started the vehicle by putting my foot on the brake and pressing the start button. The codes began scrolling each time, and the brakes were not firm/ not normal.
Started the truck up and the check engine light, abs, brake, traction control lights were all on with a message in the center brake system failure. Limped vehicle to the dealership to have worked on. The braking system is working at about 10%. I am not the only person that this has happened to gm need to recall these trucks and get them fixed before someone dies.
I was backing up at a rate of 15 mph when a message flashed on my dashboard saying something along the lines of unsafe to drive over 62 mph, brake failure, electronic control system malfunction. I hit my brakes and nothing. I kept driving backwards. I couldn't stop until the truck came to a stop on it's own. I turned off the truck and turned it back on with a message saying see dealer braking system malfunction. I was at a storage unit, leaving my unit.
On 1/10/20, I was driving home on a major freeway. Just before 5:00 pm I hit traffic and slowed down to roughly 5-10 mph. At that moment my dashboard lit up and a notification stating, "brake system failure" and "service esc" popped up on my dash. At that point I was unable to stop when applying my brakes. Luckily I had a large enough space between my truck and the car in front of me as well as the two lanes beside me having an opening and I was able to get over and coast to a complete stop on the shoulder. Extremely dangerous electronic malfunction. Had I lost my brakes 10 second sooner I would have been unable to stop and caused a potentially fatal car accident.
I was driving going around a corner when I experienced total system brake failure as deer ran across the road and I had to swerve into a ditch to avoid them. I had service esc , trailer brake system failure and a total brake system failure show on my dash along with check engine lights and other lights I was unaware what their purpose was.
Loss of brakes!!! started vehicle and received to following on dash display: * "service esc" * "brake system failure 62 mph top speed" * "service trailer brake system" * "abs" display * "brake" display * "esc" display.
I own a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ltz. I purchased it new 35 days ago. I recently encountered a very dangerous situation. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle lost it's braking ability. The brake pedal was fully depressed but the truck would not stop. The vehicle coasted until it came to a complete stop. The display indicated service traiier brake system, service esc, brake system failure, and cel. I powered the vehicle off and restarted it. The cel remained on. The other lights went away. The brakes appeared to work better but when I applied them I experienced a jerking motion. I called my local Chevrolet dealership, prince Chevrolet, ledo rd. Albany, GA. I scheduled an appointment that yielded no resolution as my check engine light remained on when I left the appointment and is still on now. I was told that the problem "might" be a result of starting my vehicle using the "my Chevrolet" mobile app. I was informed that nothing was done to repair the issue as they didn't know exactly how to fix the problem at this time. I was informed that the tech did find a service bulletin and based upon the contents thereof, I was advised not to use the app anymore. Further, I was told that I would receive a call when a solution was determined. The failure mileage was 2400.
Service esc, service trailer braking system, brake system failure 62mph top speed and a check engine light. Have another appointment at dealer after recall for esc brake module has been performed.
Service abs, service esc, and "brake failure 62mph speed limited" lights come on and brake pedal goes to the floor with very very limited braking. Recall for brake control module reprogramming was completed on 1/03/20. Drove truck 1. 5 limes and lights came back on and brake pedal went to the floor, steering also became stiff. This was always while driving the vehicle. Has happened on 4 different occasions.
As I left to head to the store this evening I immediately had 3 codes come up on my dash after I turned the ignition on. (brake system failure. 62mph top speed. Service trailer brake system. Service esc). I thought it was a glitch so I backed down my driveway with resistance of the brakes. I had it in 4x4 due to snow so I assumed its just feeling rough from that. I proceeded to drive down the street I live on to a major road and went straight into cross traffic because the truck would not stop. I nearly died from a snow plow coming. I pumped the brakes once I didn't feel them working and it felt like I was pushing on a cement block. This is unacceptable as I have come close to dying in a recalled cobalt before bow I have to worry about this truck since theres no active recall-just like the cobalt!!! I fear for my life and my autistic child's life as this is my only means of transportation to our doctors. The vehicle is parked and I contacted my friend who works in service to also doccument with him when it occurred.
I've brought my vehicle in to a gm certified Chevrolet dealership to get it's oil changed and along with that they informed me of completing a safety recall pertaining to it's brakes. The next day after the recall had been done my brakes had gone soft and my dash lit up with several different messages. Service esc, service trailer brake system, and brake system failure 62 mph top speed. I decided to bring it in again and had the recall done once more. This time it lasted a few days until my brakes had gone out once more with the same messages. It's already been a safety risk as the second time it had happened I couldn't stop and went through a 4 way intersection nearly missing oncoming traffic. My vehicle has been at the dealership since December 26, 2019. I've been informed that there "is no known fix per gm" now I'm in a loaner vehicle while paying for a truck that can't be driven.
On 12/26/2019 at 05:40 am, I got in my truck (2019 silverado lt allstar) and started the engine. I immediately received multiple warning messages on my dash panel. They were "service esc", "brake system failure" "steering assist reduced" and to drive no faster than 62 mph. prior to parking the night before on 12/25/2019 I had never had any problems whatsoever. On 12/26/2019 I was heading to work but found quickly that the brake pedel went all the way to the floor with very limited or basically no braking. The steering became very difficult with no apparent power assist.
While backing out of a parking space my brakes felt soft and seemed unresponsive. Put truck in drive and started moving forward and when I tried to stop the brake pedal went to the floor with about 5-10% braking power. Truck barely stopped before entering moving cross traffic. Truck went into limp mode displaying brake system failure speed limited to 62 mph. Limped truck to dealership approximately 2 miles. Every time I had to stop I had to pump the brakes twice and on the second time the brake pedal was depressed I would gain approximately 50% braking power. Truck has already had all recalls performed and specifically, the recalls related to "fixing" this exact issue. Dealer put the truck on the computer and explained only a check engine light had been activated due to the brake system but couldn't say what happened. Dealer attempted to have me drive the truck home, 40 miles on the freeway, and bring back in 3 days for an appointment. Feeling this was an unsafe option I requested they keep the truck until it could be thoroughly investigated and to put me in a loaner or provide transportation which they did.
Weird brake and steering feel while driving. Speed did not exceed 35 mph in neighborhood driving. Dic read: brake system failure max speed 62 mph service esc trailer brake system failure. Brake pedal was hard to push and unresponsive at times. Felt like we were dragging the back end at times. Steering was inconsistent. Parking brake was off. Stopped and started 3 times, reset the vehicle a few times. Prior to a big downhill, the last restart cleared the issue and the brake pedal went to the floor. Drove home and parked. To be honest, felt unsafe to drive especially with my son and wife in the car. Luckily we only had a short 3 miles home. Check engine light on onstar report received in email.
Had a short 5 mile drive to a restaurant. The truck sat for a few hours. Auto started the truck to warm. After 5-7 minutes I pressed the brake and turned on the truck. It instantly threw 3 codes. Brake system failure. Service trailer brake system. Service esc. Turned the truck off then back on. No change same codes. Proceeded to get the truck back home when I noticed I had almost no brakes. Next morning after starting the truck I didn't have any code messages but did have service engine light. Truck drove and stopped as it normally did.
Around Dec 15th, I was notified of a new recall related to the braking system: n192268090 brake system malfunction warning. I immediately scheduled an appt with my local chevy dealer to get this recall fixed. I took it in on 12/17. I had to leave the truck overnight. I picked it up on 12/18. On 12/20, after leaving the movies with my family, I had a total brake system failure - on city street. My dash lit up with abs, cel and warnings such as "brake system failure 62 mph top speed". When I tried to apply my brakes, they were stiff and did not stop the truck immediately. They were very hard to push in. I was able to limp home. I took my truck back to the dealer the next morning 12/21. They had it for a week until the following Saturday 12/28. They said gm told them the issue was loose battery cables that interfered with the braking system. They tightened them and should be good to go. I picked my truck up that day. That night, after leaving a basketball game with my family, the same thing happened again - complete braking system failure - after turning truck on. I returned my truck to the dealer on the 30th where it is still sitting. They told me gm said not to release the truck back to owner until engineers figure out the issue. I have opened a case with gm case # 9-5715631728. I have gone through 2 different agents - neither of which have offered any updates. I have been without my truck for over 2 weeks and there is no updates to this major safety issue. I have lost confidence in my new truck & feel that my family is not safe. There are several other owners in the same boat in the chevy forum I follow. . Read more...
I took it Tuesday 12/17/19 in for an oil change at 4k miles to get under 7k service. For my 2019 high country. As I was notified I was due for an oil change. I looked on onstar. Saw there was a recall and figured they could two things at once. Come to find out there were three recalls. Which I get it, things happen. I get it home Tuesday night no issues. Thursday 12/19/19 around 6 pm, as I was backing out of my driveway and it wouldn't stop. I had to stand on the brakes. I am 62 and 300 lbs. I was able to get the vehicle in drive and again, the vehicle was not easily stopping. I had numerous dashboard displays. I took pictures of the displayed items. I called rick hendrick Chevrolet at 6:53 pm on 12/19/19 and since I live close dropped it off at the dealer, as I was headed out of town Sunday and wanted this fixed. So. . . . Here comes the issue besides it not stopping that I am even more fired up about! the service guy, called me Friday morning to say they can't find anything wrong. Now, with the display saying service esc, trailer brake system, and brake system failure not to go above 62 mph, I am pretty sure it triggered an code and would be in code history. I told him I had pictures of the dash display and that they needed to check the code history. He told me at one point it was the vacuum, but then told me that the vacuum was an issue with last years model. And that he was having his master technician look at it. Around 4 pm on Friday, with a family trip coming up Sunday 12/22/19 and not hearing anything I called a few times to find out if I needed to rent a car or they could get me a loaner. I got a call around 5:13 pm on 12/19/19 telling me it's ready and they reinstalled the software and the master technician drove it. Said he is comfortable. I was scared then and scared now to put them back in that vehicle.
Tl the contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 15 mph, the contact attempted to make a right turn and the brakes failed to engage. Also, the brake warning indicator illuminated. The contact allowed the vehicle to idle, pulled into a parking lot, and came to a stop. Roadside assistance was contacted and the vehicle was towed to jim butler Chevrolet (759 gravois bluffs blvd, fenton, mo 63026, (636) 349-3222) where it was diagnosed that the anti-lock brake system needed to be replaced; however, the part to do the repairs was not available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,588.
Warning message came across screen of "brake system failure 62 mph top speed". Vehicle was difficult to stop and had I been in heavy traffic would have certainly caused an accident. I believe the failure is related to the integrated brake controller. I feel that 62 mph is a unsafe speed to allow the vehicle to be operated at with such a failure. A 90th percentile female would not be able to control the vehicle with such a failure due to the amount of pressure required to be applied to the brake pedal in manual mode.
On June 16th 2019 I drove down to atlanta, GA for a baseball game. Midway I stopped for gas. When I turned back on the truck, I realized that I had lost a and if I get an amount of my braking ability. However, I had no lights on mu dash to indicate a failure to the braking system. I read on a gm forum that other owners experienced the problem, turned off the vehicle for 30 mins, turned back on the vehicle and the brakes worked again. They, however, had lights indicating a brake failure. I followed the forums suggestions and after 30 mins with my truck off, I drove the truck again and had no further issues. I took the vehicle into the service department, but as I expected they could not replicate the issue. I wanted to start a paper trail though incase the issue reoccurred. On July 10th the same braking issue occurred again. This time I was near my dealership in greenville, SC. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they were able to confirm a loss of over 50% of braking but no lights or check engine code (past or present) indicating a brake failure. I am very concerned and believe this truck is unsafe because of the braking issues and lack of confirmation of service lights on the truck dash. It is a death trap. They are not able to confirm a fix either due to not having a service error code to fix and turn off. Vehicle was in motion when issues occurred both times. On both occasion as, serious car accidents almost happened due to lack of braking ability.
