1 Front Suspension Hub problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 07/29/2013

I have a 2002 chevy Silverado 1500 truck, and had a new set of tires (oem size), a new napa hub bearing assembly and a new napa inner tie rod. This work was professionally installed by a certified ase mechanic at a local repair shop on July 3, 2013. The tie rod failed on July 29, 2013. The hub bearing and the inner tie rod were replaced due to normal wear. Thankfully - this happened while I was backing out of my driveway and not last weekend doing 70 mph on the highway with my family in my truck. Failure of this part on the highway could have cost me my life, my family's lives and the lives of everyone else in my unintended path. Vehicle was "repaired" by the local shop in the driveway and they showed up with a replacement napa inner tie rod. I see on the box that this part is manufactured in china. I did not want that part on my vehicle and told them they could install it for a one-time trip to the shop but then I want it changed to another brand. They obliged and found another manufacturer. The napa part is es3478 - inner tie rod.

2 Front Suspension Hub problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 10/26/2009

A roaring sound began in the front left hub bearing assembly on my 2006 Chevrolet silverado z-71 on 25 October, 2009. On the following day, the noise became a horrible grinding sound, and the front left wheel began wobbling badly. I had to have the vehicle towed to atwood Chevrolet in vicksburg, ms where I live. I was informed that the left front hub bearing assembly was shot, and had to be replaced. Approximately 18 months before, the right front hub-bearing assembly had to be replaced on this same vehicle. The Chevrolet dealership (atwood Chevrolet) replaced the part on 27 October, 2009. I was informed by the service manager that this was occurring at a constant rate on this vehicle. When I talked to the gm representative on 28 October, I was told that 'because of the environment in which I live here in mississippi", this is expected.

4 Front Suspension Hub problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 01/09/2009

January 2009- excessive noise from right front of vehicle. Brought to dealer immediately for repair. Left front axle(4wd)hub/bearing assembly failed at approx 50,000 on a 2006 Chevrolet silverado. Dealer repaired at cost to me of just under $400. July 2009, similar front end noise(louder) brought to dealer and determined right front bearing/hub assembly was loose and afloat as well and needed immediate repair at a cost of $362 to me. Seems to be early failure and was definitely a safety issue if bearing came apart.

My drivers side hub went out about 120,000 miles. Replaced it, went out less than over year later, then again less than 6 months later . Tailgate latch broke before then, about one year later, fuel pump went out. Front running lights always seem to have a light out. 2009 rack and pinion went out, replaced it, then one year later went out again. U joint went out about same time. And ignition stuck and couldn't take out of gear or turn off. Fuel line unclipped and dumped all my gas,2010 transmission went out. Now my passenger side hub assembly has gone out for first time with abs light on and wheel clanking and separating. Rack and pinion blown also. Repairs not cheap, and always happens at financially bad time. So now it sits in driveway broke down and I'm trying to find a hub for cheap so I can get around again to work etc. Seems like everytime I fix something another part goes out. Never heard about any recall problems till now, and would like to know about any options of getting repair. Its costing me weeks of off time from work.
