1 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2011

I want to register a safety complaint with regard to the oem brake pads that were installed by an independent shop on my 2001 chevy silverado hd 2500. The pads were purchased by the shop (levine's garage) in new windsor NY from barton birks chevy in newburgh NY and installed on my truck in Feb 2009 in addition to new rotors. I recently smelled brake burning and disassembled the brakes to discover the pads on the drivers side were pitted and scored. The rotors showed no damage. I replaced the pads and returned the damaged pads to the shop and was told they had a one year warranty and it was passed the warranty period. The pads on the passenger side are fine. Both sets of pads have about 90% material still on them. I believe these pads are defective and would like your intervention.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2010

Rear disc brake rotors on 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd are rusting to the point where they will have to be replaced for a second time at 68,000 miles. The first occurrence was 7/28/2005 at 38,000 miles, now at 68,000 miles, the vehicle braking performance has severely degraded to the point where it feels like it's braking only with the front disc brakes. I was told by the service personal that the rear rotors and pads will need to be replaced, not because of wear, but because of rust.

3 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2007

The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd. While approaching a stop between 1-5 mph, the vehicle rolls before stopping completely. The antilock braking system attempts to engage and causes the vehicle to jerk. The failure began intermittently, but now occurs 90% of the time. The dealer stated that the brake pads needed to be replaced. The rear brake pads were replaced, but the failure persists. The current mileage was 103,000 and failure mileage was 95,000.
