Unknown lost my truck to fire I was shopping and when I came out of the store the fire department had already put the fire out. They had said the fire started under the hood on the driver side.
My truck only has 61,000 miles on it and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor one day on my way to work. I called the dealer and the price to fix was $2,130. 00 , I watched a news report and even a single owner of similar truck who had it washed every week had the same problem. The truck should have been designed with a guard protecting the brakes.
When slowing down to stop, while at low speed, using the brakes engages the abs system and steering becomes suddenly difficult.
While driving on a rural country road I soundly and without warnong lost my power brakes and steering. . Steering was very difficult and brakes were almost not functional. I took a great effort to turn the steering wheel and apply the brakes to safely stop the vehicle. If I was traveling in traffic at highway speeds I could not control and safely stop the vehicle. . I immediately parked the vehicle and had it towed to a nearby dealership. The power steering pump was replaced. So the power steering pump malfunctioned (broken shaft) while the vehicle was underway. . The power steering malfunction affected both the power steering and brakes and there was no warning. I feel this is a poor design. Minimally there should be some sort of warning when the power steering and or power brakes are compromised. As I understand it this same issue occurs when the serpentine belt fails. The belt will fail when the belt tensioner does. Again no warning when this occurs.
Low speed unwanted antilock brake system activation.
The contact owned a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd pickup. The contact stated while braking from speeds of 5 mph, a vehicle crashed into the rear of his vehicle, causing his vehicle to crash into the vehicle ahead of him. The brake pedal was depressed but did not engage and the front and rear of his vehicle sustained substantial body damage. The dealer would not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 130,000 and the current mileage was 134,000.
The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet silverado. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph coming to a complete stop. The brakes were engaged, followed by a humming noise and a no power response. The brake pedal began to fade and then responded normally. The contact stated that there was a failure within the brake system sensor. The failure occurred whenever attempting to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired in 2006. The dealer was notified on a separate occasion for the identical failure and refused to correct the failure. The failure mileage was 113,000. The current mileage was 118,000.
Problem with 2001 Silverado 2500hd abs brakes pulsating in low speed stops causing prolonged stopping distance. Refered to local gm dealer, which stated truck was not on the recall list. I am having certified mechanic repair the problem(not gm)ASAP.
The abs recall when I called gm they told me my truck was not part of the recall but it does the same thing the recall was for at about 10 mph when braking the abs kicks in which makes it take longer to stop( I don't know when it started I am guessing with the date).
