The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd (na). While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact began to apply the brakes to make a right turn. While turning with his foot on the brake, the contact noticed that it took extreme effort to steering the vehicle and apply the brakes. The contact pulled over and noticed that there was a hose leaking which was connected to the power steering pump. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that the vehicle was not included in recall 05v455000 (steering: hydraulic power assist: hose, piping, and connections). The current and failure mileages were approximately 90,000.
Power steering pump went out at 20,000 miles . Even at these low miles gm wouldn't cover it because it was out of warranty 5/05. But they wouldn't pay because I use the truck for plowing I. E truck came from factory set up to have plow installed. Said plow was reason for pump failure.
