Exterior Lighting Problems of Chevrolet Silverado 2500

The contact owns a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds at night, the low beam and high beam headlights were extremely dim, reducing the roadway visibility while driving during the rain. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact was informed that the headlights were functional. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 700.

This vehicle does not recognize that the gear is on park. Due to the issue, it has left me stranded twice. The first time it was at a very remote area up in the mountains. I was stuck for hours due to battery dying. The second time being a very dangerous situation because it was a very dangerous area late at night.

Can not see when driving in reverse in the dark. Camera image appears as a red fog and I can't see a thing. I tried using the rear view mirrors and again could not see anything. Totally driving in reverse in the blind. Absolute safety issue that needs to be addressed. I don't know if this is a camera issue, a lighting issue or both. I have an appointment with the dealership I purchased the vehicle from on 10/23/2025 to address the problem explained above. I purchased this vehicle as a used unit with less than 8,000 miles and this was the first time I had the occasion to operate the vehicle in reverse in the dark.

I was making a right turn and my signal started flashing faster than normal and stated service passenger front turn lamp. There is no way of service without replacing the entire headlight which is $2000. 00 for one side. Took to gm dealer about a month ago to diagnose the opposite side and they stated warranty will not cover it. The truck had approximately 76k miles on it when the driver side was looked at and the passenger side was with 78k miles. I have contacted gm warranty claims department twice now to put it all on record. It’s a major safety concern when I have no turn signals on the front which could easily cause a crash. It also is a concern of being pulled over by any law official for something that I can not control and it’s not like I can just go to a local parts store to get a bulb on a weekend due to a poor design by general motors. Other trucks of the same year with the same headlights that I have are being recalled due to the same issues but since my build date doesn’t fall into that category they do not want to take the responsibility of making things right or help prevent safety incidents from happening that could cause harm their customers and innocent bystanders.

Very limited while driving in the dark cause head lights go off and can’t drive in the rain or snow cause wipers turn off not save for my family and I and other drivers on the road thai all happen, after the dealer (lithia Chevrolet of redding, CA) performed gm recall programming on the serial data gateway module (sdgm) and related software updates, my truck began having serious electrical failures. Immediately after the recall work, all exterior lights, interior lights, and trailer lights began flickering on and off while driving. The windshield wipers also pause or stop for a moment when this happens. None of these issues existed before the recall. This appears to be a module reset or corrupted calibration caused during the recall reprogramming. Gm has already told NHTSA that they have hundreds of field complaints about flickering headlamps on 2024 trucks, and they identified lighting flicker as a safety defect. My symptoms match those issues exactly. The dealer refuses to accept responsibility, saying the recall is “closed,” but the electrical failure only began immediately after their programming. This is a safety hazard when driving at night or in the rain, and it affects the trailer braking/lighting circuits as well. I have an active gm case opened for this issue. The truck is unsafe to operate in this condition. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether the recall programming is causing electrical module failures and whether additional action is needed.

In certain GMC and Chevrolet models 2019 to 2025 it is common knowledge and easily found on the web that there is a manufacturer defect that does not allow the vehicle to be placed in “park” properly due to defective parts in the steering column that do not allow the vehicle to safely turn off fully. Vehicle gives "shift to park" warning when already in park. Occasionally, vehicle will not shut off. Once it does shut off, dash lights and controls do not shut off. Vehicle will not lock upon exit. Warning lights and beeping causes battery to drain. I have been left stranded with dead battery twice.

The vehicle mileage is 1,886. The vehicle steering command left or right turns had beautiful chime sound. The dealership could not find the signal chime commands. They claim that this vehicle doesn't have chime when turning right or left. This high-end truck has a lot features that dealership don't know about. This vehicle mileage is very good on the highway 22. 4 miles per gallon.

The vehcile only has 1779 miles. The ac unit operated for short period time. The outside temperture was 95 degree fahrenheit all the controls were not inoperate. The a/c compressor pump was not functioning. The only items working was the fan motor blowing hot air. I restated the vehicle and still no cold air output. The dealership said they could not find any problems with a/c unit. The unit operated normaly and the tempertuer is 35 degrees output. The second problem the dash panel emergency light cable was never installed. The dealer had to order the part.

At night, when ever I backup with this vehicle, the backup camera in the infotainment display is so bright, it is impossible to use the mirrors or view anything out of the windows. I did several searches on the internet, discovered that this was a problem and that this had occurred in gm vehicles years 2014-2019. A service bulletin 17-na-269 described and applied a software upgrade to fix issue in those vehicles. I called 2 local dealers and they both said they had never heard of problem. I then visited one of those dealers in person, they then admitted that they had heard of problem, but did not have any resolution. I called gm in detroit, and they attempted to assistme over the phone, but all of the things they suggested , I had already tried. Dimming dash lights and turning off infotainment display, neither suggestion helped. They said they did not have any other suggestions. I can throw a towel over the infotainment system display and that allows me to be able to use mirrors and see out of the windows. The danger is that I could back into something or someone and cause damage to local infrastructure or hurt or kill an individual that I could not see while backing up with vehicle.

Dashboard lights and audio system shut off randomly for one second while driving, and then turned back on. When shutting the truck off, all power was lost for one second.

1. The instrument panel emergency lights are not operating . The manufactor fail to do final inspection. The emergency harness was not install. The instrument lights were not operating. 2. The truck automatic steps lights don't come all the time. The passengers are unable see during darkness. They loss there footing and fell on the asphalt. The automatic steps are color black are to see during the night. The steps should be color fluorescent white. The vehicle mileage is only 1224 miles.

Factory led headlamp was flashing rapidly like a strobe light intermittently before it failed. The lights are bright enought that it was not immediately obvious to me (the driver) that anything was amiss. Was noticeable when close to other vehicles in traffic and on open, dark roads, where the strobing affect as apparent on reflective signs. The unit later failed completely and is now backordered and so unavailable to replace. I'm forced to drive with no headlight. The unit was faulty and suffered from water intrusion, which was determined to be the cause of the failure by the dealership. The failure occurred less than three years after the vehicle was placed into service, though it could not be taken in for service until a week after warranty expired. It is not covered by any warranty, though headlights are typically a wear item and expected to be readily replaceable. Dealer-quote cost to repair is $2,300, making the repair to be likely inaccessible to many owners. I have a video of the offensive behavior.

The vehicle has, on numerous occasions, gone into a "check right front turn lamp" or "check left front turn lamp" while operating the turn signals. Vehicle then goes into "hyperflash" on the turn signal indicating a fault when the error message appears and renders the signal non-functional. Vehicle does not return to normal until it is shut off and restarted. Vehicle was taken to dealer for service on this item, the computer was re-flashed with latest software but problem persisted. Dealer indicated they believed there was no issue with the turn signal lights, it was a software issue in the truck. Servicing dealer is jim norton Chevrolet in broken arrow, oklahoma. I have noted others in internet research with the same model of truck and similar led lighting equipment experiencing the same fault.

Rear view camera doesn’t display an image in reverse at night. Many reported issues online with Chevrolet and GMC vehicles, model years 2024 and 2025.

Headlights are foggy causing less and less light to drive by. Transmission has a hesitation when going from p-d, p-r, d-r, and r-d. It does this most of the time but not all the time. Transmission makes loud popping noises at times. Seems to be mostly when almost stopped or from almost stopped and then accelerating. Seems to try and shift gears also when truck goes into regen mode when stopped at traffic light or stop sign making loud popping noises. It does this sometimes but not all of the time.

Since owning this truck brand new in 2014 I have replaced both drivers side and passenger side front head lamps a multitude of times. Too many to count. Sometimes they last a couple months, sometimes longer. This is absurd.

The lighting on these trucks is absolutely terrible. The brights/high beams are ok but the dim/low beams are dangerous! there is little to no side projection and the distance is horrible. If it wasnt for the fog lamps I wouldnt be able to drive this truck at night. It is completely unacceptable that a $60,000 vehicle would come with lighting this poor!.

When in drive entering an incline the engine will lurch to a higher gear. Also when driving the light in the front panel will go dark. Can not read speed, tack, gas level all black. ( for 30 sec, 45 sec then for an hour and a half) also the air-conditioning will turn on automatically without me turning it on and no indicator it is on. Then later the air-conditioning indicator light will turn on . Still without me turning on the air-conditioning. At all times truck was in motion on street or highway.

During night hours only, the backup camera is so bright (inside the cab) it is hard to navigate when backing. You can not see your mirrors. I almost ran a kid over once and I almost hit a parked car. There is no dimmer for the brightness on the display.

Brightness level for the center console display (radio, climate controls) cannot be dimmed. When adjusting the volume, changing airflow, tuning radio etc, a banner is displayed along the top of the screen that is so bright it is almost blinding at night. It significantly impairs night vision. There needs to be a dimming option. The banner is the same brightness regardless of speed or time of day. Chevy 2500 silverado wt.

The entire instrument panel flickers and goes dark randomly I cant see my speed or what gear I am in. On my way to work and attempted to stop at a stop sign break pedal went to the floor. I had zero brakes. Upon inspection I found a break line had corroded through and ruptured. The vehicle only has 100 thousand miles. It seems to be a common issue with this model vehicle. This is very dangerous.

I bought this truck new . I continue to have problems with the body control module, bcm this unit effects everthing . I had to replace when the truck had 35k miles now the dealer tells me that I have to replace again at 138k . Because the everthing goes on and off the door locks again going up and down and the truck will just shut down while driving come to a stop turn it off and cranks up now the left side windows are not working and the dash lights are going on and off and the door locks acting stupid same thing that was happening before . The head lights on a dark rainy night are so poor it is a hazard to drive, if you meet another automobile just hold on and hope you do not hit each other, as you can't tell you are going to. I have had it back for repair but they tell me there is no fix for a chevy, if I had a GMC there is a fix. My radio will not work when its really cold out. My transmission shifts harshly and engine flutters between gears. When I slow down coming into town I feel a hard down shift, also if going slow and climbing a hill that is when it feels as if the engine has a small skip but it is the transmission not shifting into a lower gear. There is also no fix for poor shifting.

On March 21, 2014 I purchased a brand new 2015 Chevrolet 2500 hd diesel truck at a cost of $ 62,500. I have had an issue with the lights on this truck from day one. This vehicle is not safe to drive at night especially if it is raining. The headlamps on dim do not produce enough light to see more than 100 yards in front of the vehicle. There is no light projected to the side making it extremely dangerous when making turns, especially left hand turns. I have taken this vehicle to Chevrolet dealerships on several occasions, but they could not correct the problem. I contacted Chevrolet customer service and was advised that the lights were performing as designed. I am not satisfied with this answer. Although they offered me a $ 2000 discount on a new gm vehicle, I am not willing to take the depreciation to purchase another vehicle to get rid of a problem that is not my fault. There are numerous reports on the internet of this same lighting issue. Not only is this problem a hazard to myself and family, but others on the highway. I'm not asking them for a new $ 62,500 vehicle, I just want mine fixed. I would appreciate any help you can give me on this matter. Thanks.

You can't see up the road with out high beams on the low beam projector beams it doesn't shine far enough up the road and if you are going down hill it's alot worse.

About 4 months ago, the passenger side headlamp harness melted, and almost caught fire. I had it replaced, and thought of it as a "one off" type situation. However, recently, the driver side did the same exact thing! upon research, I found that it is happening all over the place to them. I am not an isolated incident. The real danger here is this- what happens if both melt at the same time??? aside from the danger of fire, the larger, more pressing danger is losing both lights at once. The consumer (driver) would essentially be blind, and in the panic may not think to turn the high beams on. This is a real problem, and if not addressed could have dire consequences. I implore you to research how many headlamp harnesses have been sold (as the only reason to replace would be because of this) and address it before someone loses sight, and crashes. Something so small, would really be a tragedy to have a loss of life over. When the fix is simply using a bigger wire that can handle the amps. Hopefully nobody has been injured yet!.

A friend was driving my truck in a residential neighborhood. He was only going 20 mph when the gas light came on but the needle said it had half a tank. All of a sudden the radio locked up and all the needles on the dash started going crazy all the emblems on the dash lite up. We parked and turned off the truck. As soon as we went to turn back we had just started it not even 3 minutes later all of the gauges and lights on the truck it started freaking out again and now the driver side mirror and window control would no longer work. Earlier that day I had taken it in a reputable shop to get the truck smogged and get it checked out. The truck passed smog and they said the truck had no problems. This was the first time it had ever done anything like this.

I have been having problems with my front running lights. There is always one burnt out on the front. I have replaced them several times, check to make sure the right fuse is being used, but everytime one burns out. I have also noticed now that about every gm SUV or truck I see going down the road also has a running light burnt out. . This seems like a safety issue that the manufacturer should have to address. .
