In 2017 my bosch cp4 fuel pumped failed, mark christopher replaced due to recall. While driving 70 mph on the freeway on September 1, 2020 my truck completely shut down, had a complete loss of power, and power steering was lost. Had to make my way to side of freeway and call for a tow. This was the second failure of the bosch cp4 fuel pump, which was installed three years prior. Mark christopher Chevrolet and gm will not replace under recall. Knowing that this is recalled product they are fusing to replace it.

While driving from michigan into new york to deliver an RV to a dealership my truck experienced a fuel deficiency and stalled while traveling on a highway. I first thought it was the fuel filter but that did not resolve the issue and in towing it into a service shop they determined the bosch cp4 fuel pump had quit due to metal shavings which resulted in the entire fuel system needing to be replaced. This cost me over $15,000. It's my understanding that this pump is not compatible with the fuel in the united states and there has been a class action suit filed in texas. It is also my understanding that gm tried to have the case dismissed but the texas judge did not allow for a dismissal. I have several copies of repair and travel expenses related to this issue as well as lost income as I use my truck for deliveries. I will provide copies of these when necessary as my scanner is not currently working. This issue should definitely be considered as a recall issue as this is a very expensive repair not to mention the danger of the fuel system quitting unexpectedly.

While driving on the highway I started to lose power and so when I pulled into the airport parking lot my truck stalled while I was still in drive. I tried to restart the truck however it would not crank over so I had to contact a tow company. What I found out was that it was the high pressure fuel pump that went out causing severe damage to my fuel system by sending metal shavings into all of my fuel system to include my gas tank. Gm had a class action suit for this year of truck for this issue at hand and I am wondering why they never initiated a safety recall on this defective part? I could have been stranded somewhere on the highway and I have a family with three kids which cold have made it worse if they were with me on a trip. This is a safety issue in my eyes and if gm knew about this happening why have they not fixed it now I am being charged $8900. 00 for repairs when they knew this was an issue. If I would have been on the highway this could of been catastrophic to not only me however to the public traveling on that same highway. I have all the TSB's and internet research on the lawsuit filed but cannot upload.

Serious risk of fire: this model has an pressure sensor on top of the gas tank (and fuel pump) that when it malfunctions causes strong fuel odors and fuel to escape from the tank and run down the frame and out near the back bumper.
