1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 01/24/2026

On approximately January 24, 2026 my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd equipped with the 6. 6 duramax diesel displayed an error code (p20b9). This error code was found to be related to the diesel exhaust fluid system specifically relating to "reductant heater a control circuit/open. " on January 27, 2026, the vehicle was diagnosed at Chevrolet dealership and the following was reported "diesel emissions fluid tank remove and replace - p20b9 set for reductant heater circuit. . . Commanded on and zero amps. . Circuitfailure. . . Disconnect pump module and burned/overheated terminals. . Pump module and harness part of tank assembly. . . Labor time added to perform malfunction/tamper test to clear emissions message. . . . " I found the "burned/overheated terminals" comment to be alarming. I looked into this matter further and found a gm service bulletin (21-na-006) from October 2022. This bulletin identified this issue which contained an image showing burned/overheated terminals. The identified cause within the bulletin states "this condition may be caused by a poor connection at the emission reduction fluid tank electrical connector. " I believe this should upgraded to a safety recall due the the potential of this terminal connection catching fire which could be detrimental for the operator, passengers, property, and the public.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 02/01/2021

Vehicle is a diesel has about 13,000 miles on it only. Received a warning on the dash while vehicle was in motion that the def system has an issue and to see the owner manual. Says about 80 miles until max speed will only be 65 mph. Took to dealer and stated that it is the def pump in the tank. The part is almost impossible to get right now because it has been faulty on so many of these vehicles and has needed replacement. Have to leave vehicle at dealership until they can get a part in otherwise vehicle cannot be driven.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 05/10/2012

We brought our 2006 Chevrolet silverado with around 73,000 miles on it to a repair shop for a tune up and we were told the following: “the fuel lines are very rusted (starting to seep back by the tank area) the brake lines are very rusted, the truck will need rear brakes very soon, all brake hoses will need to be replaced, the bleeders on calipers are rusted out, the shimmy shock in the front end is blown apart, has a lot of play in the idler arm, front shocks rusted & leaking, rear shocks rusted, rear end cover rusted, the transfer case tail shaft is leaking, the frame is rusted & getting thin in spots, has at least three broken exhaust manifold studs we understand that brake pads and calipers are usual repairs and maintenance. However, the vehicle is only six years old and the truck should not be very rusted. We called Chevrolet and opened a case to review the rust issues. We brought the truck to a dealership as requested by Chevrolet for a visual inspection. Using document id #2758961, the technicians determined “no repair or consideration should be given for this concern - surface corrosion on unprotected components will vary with age and exposure. Corrosion on these components will vary with age and exposure. Corrosion on these components has no detrimental impacts, either in short or long term durability. " however, they explained that if they were us, they would replace the brake and fuel lines. The Chevrolet case worker called the dealer and confirmed the findings. He explained to us that the rust was due to environmental factors and normal wear and tear. We tried to get a definition of environmental factors, however the worker would not explain further. . The truck resides in the north east; it is subjected, as all vehicles are, to many environmental factors every day.
