Steering Gear Box Shaft Pitman Problems of Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Around 35,000 miles the steering became very sloppy. 4-6 inches of play before responding. The defective steering box also activates stabilitrack while driving on clear road conditions jerking the vehicle to the left. Took the truck the wilson county Chevrolet buik GMC in lebanon TN. They performed service bulletin �#pit5501c. Problem came back a few days later. They said the steering box and pitman arm needed to be replaced but was not covered under warranty. I do not feel safe driving the truck while it jerks me all over the road. Gm needs to step up and fix the issue on hundreds of trucks affected by this steering issue!!!.

Pitman arm to center link broke during slight left turn a low speed leaving residential driveway. Vehicle had no steering after event. All original oem equipment with no modifications. Steering gear box had previously been replaced years earlier all other components original.

The mechanic replaced the steering box, pitman arm, outer tie rod on both ends and the upper ball joint. The contact also stated that the brakes were leaking. The brake leak failure had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that noise emitted from the steering column. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the steering gear box and pitman needed to be replaced. The contact also stated that the front bearings and bushings were previously replaced. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 59,000 and the current mileage was 64,000.

On July 23 2008, I was backing out of a parking spot and I lost all steering, the pitman arm sheared off. I had installed the fab-tech pitman arm, idler arm, tie rod ends, and steering stabilizer kit. I found out later that the pitman arm, and idler arm, had a recall. I contacted fabtech via email and they told me who to contact about the recall. I later got transferred to another guy at fabtech. He sent me instructions on how to go about the recall to get refunded the original purchase price and get a check for the installation and front end alignment and they are also suppose to send the new idler arm and pitman arm. Fabtech asked that I box and ship the old parts to them and they would then inspect them and send the check and parts. I sent the parts in and then they decided they were not going to honor the recall. I had complete steering failure, luckily I was in a parking lot when it happened. Just hours before I was on the highway. A recall is a recall and they need to honor it for me as well.
