1 Steering Is Loose problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 10/27/2020

10/26/20 while traveling on the freeway for the last few days, I noticed that the steering felt loose. I took the truck to les schwab to have the tires checked as a precaution. On 10/27/20 I inadvertently ran over several potholes on the freeway and the force of the passenger side tire hitting the pothole forced the steering wheel out of my hand. I have owed this vehicle just under two weeks, which was bought new and currently has 630 miles on the odometer. While researching, I came across another post with similar steering issues. Not sure if this is isolated; however the dealer will be notified in the morning.

2 Steering Is Loose problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 06/06/2019

I bought a 2003 chevy Silverado 2500hd 15 years ago and gave it to my 16 year old son. Recently we noticed that the brakes and steering was acting funny and making a noise, so we replaced the power steering pump and hoses. The problem only started getting worse. I did some research and found an old recall or notice related to the hydro-boost relief valve that was defected because of o-ring failure. Just searching the vehicle will show several sites revealing the problem. The nada site goes into more detail on the problem. We have parked the truck until a decision is made. I contacted the manufacture and they stated that there was no problem, the vehicle has trouble when steering and looses braking.

3 Steering Is Loose problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 02/13/2019

The steering is very loose/excessive lash. Up to 4 inches of free steering wheel travel. Not as noticeable from 0-40 or over 70mph but in between is very noticeable! this also makes the truck seem "darty" when changing directions on winding roads and uneven spots in the pavement. I took my truck to the dealer and they said that it is a very common problem in the 2500 trucks and they dont understand why it isnt a recall. Parts and labor to fix a "design flaw" gear in the steering box $2,000. This is ridiculous that a 2016 model vehicle with 42,000 miles has this issue. This is most definitely a serious safety issue! after researching this problem I have notice a lot of complaints with this model truck having the same issue. In some of the reports that I have seen some of the trucks are having the same problem with less than 15,000 miles.

4 Steering Is Loose problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 02/01/2019

At slow speeds when backing up the steering wheel get hard and then loosend up. Moving forward and making a turn the steering wheel get hard again and then loosends up. It becomes a struggle to turn get hard and then loosends up. This started happening at 30000 miles and continues. This problem is very unsafe if that steering does not loosen up at higher speeds it could mean death and injuries to other parties. This problem has continued to happen to us over 15 times. I bought this vehicle brand new of the lot, im the only owner.
