Check Engine Light On Problems of Chevrolet Spark

While I was driving the car, the check engine light starts comes on, and the car loses its ability to accelerate properly and shakes all over like it's about to fall apart. This is particularly dangerous when I'm on the highway and the car suddenly forces itself to go slower and won't accelerate beyond 25-30 mph.

Car lost power and took longer to accelerate than normal while I was driving it. My car's dashboard showed the check engine light, reduced engine power light and a loss of traction control light. A car diagnostic recommended to change the throttle position sensor which I have done with no success. A dealership diagnostic said there was faulty wiring which would cost $600 to fix. I have not gone through with the repairs as of yet. I have met at least 2 other people that have this problem.

My engine started shaking with the check engine light flashing and traction control light on. The car wouldn't let me get out of gear.

The traction control light, stability light and check engine light came on while driving on a city street. According to the dealership it is having random misfires. The dealership is wanting me to pay around $350 to have the carbon cleaned out but they can't guarantee that will fix it. They said my warranty doesn't cover it. Then I asked if I go that route and it doesn't fix it, what the next step is. They said to take the engine out and clean it by hand, roughly $1000, and the warranty doesn't cover that either. I am not satisfied with their response and after reading pages and pages of the same issue in forums and no one mentioning they had to go through these steps has lead me to believe it is only putting a bandaid on the issue. I didn't buy the extended warranty just to have to dole out hundreds if not thousands.

While trying to accelerate from stopped position car will hesitate and stall out. Check engine light came on. Took to dealership and had 1400 misfire codes in history. Has been back to dealership 5 more times and cannot duplicate concern. Now while driving down the highway car has lost acceleration and stalled out a total 4 times in 85 miles. This is a huge safety concern for me. I've been lucky so far to avoid being hit but I shouldn't be playing russian roulette when I'm driving a vehicle with less than 30k miles on it. I've had the car since 12/2016 and it's been a complete nightmare. Gm needs to recall all these cars before a class action lawsuit against them is filed. I'm paying for a car that I am scared to death literally, to die!!!.

It is an unpredictable on and off issue that the dealership has yet to see and is not related to temperature as the issue has occurred in all 4 seasons. As of last week, the acceleration and shaking issues have started occurring without the check engine or traction lights to warn me it's happening again.

After accelerating from a light at 5mph the gear indicator disappeared and the transmission stuck in 2nd gear verified by revs vs. Vehicle speed. Resulted in very slow acceleration and high revs. Cycling the gear shifter did not resolve issue. Would not even shift to neutral. Issue not resolved until cycling ignition. No check engine light, no indicator lamps. No gear selection indicator on display.

May have been happening before above date but did not realize it. . . . On dashboard there is no indication of which gear I am in(ie p d n r) and car has no pickup even when peddle to floor. . . When it does start moving it is very, very, very slow. . . . Noticed this several times and when it went in for hood latch recall asked them to check. . . . Of course they could not duplicate(recall was not done as to lack of parts) still was occurring occasionally . . . . . Went back again for recall latch work(done this time 3-11-15) when leaving check engine light was on. . . Was told it was safe to drive, but I showed them the dashboard was not indicating gear. . . Left it with them they r&r park neutral switch which they stated was filled with water. . . . . This was very dangerous to me, at first I could either turn car off and restart to see indicator on dash or run thru the gears, but right before engine light came on I could do none of this/have read about this numerous times on a site call carcomplaints. I purchased a 2014 chevy Spark on 2-26-2014. 40 hours later the check engine light came on and vehicle was struggling to shift. Returned to dealer and they said that a sensor was not plugged in all the way and the transmission issue was because a new vehicle "needed to be broken in. . . Which takes about 1000 miles). Service manager decided to keep vehicle because transmission didn't seem right. They kept vehicle until 3-7-2014 and still did not shift right. Had 4 days, and check engine light came back on. Returned car to dealership on 3-14-2014 and they had vehicle for 13 days before any contact from them. Called on 3-27-2014 & they stated that they had to change pistons and other engine components and vehicle would not be ready for about a week. To further my suspicion, they want me to come in on 3-28-2014 to sign papers to refinance vehicle from gmac auto finance because they "found a lower interest rate"!! and to further my disgust with this situation, they never sent the payoff to my finance company of the vehicle that I traded in and now they have adversely affected my credit. I have only had possession of this vehicle for 9 days in a 30 day period. Any suggestions??.

Upon starting the car, the check engine light and the traction light lit up. The car was in park on a flat and paved surface. After putting the car in reverse, the car suddenly jerked and did the same as I put it into drive. As I was driving the car was up to 3000 rpms and would not go over 30 mph. The car would not shift gears. I pulled over and shut the car off. When I restarted the vehicle, no lights lit up and it performed fine the rest of the way home. When I took it to the dealership the next day to have it looked at, they only found a code for misfiring coils. They also stated that they believe this is not the issue I am having but due to Chevrolet warranty, they could not look into it without a certain code to pop up in the system.

24 hours after purchase of a 2014 chevy Spark, the check engine light came on and car is slow to accelerate. The check engine light was not on when arriving at dealership, but the diagnostics showed a knock sensor code. They decided it was a loose gas cap as the vehicle was filled up the night before and they sent me home. The next morning the check engine light came on again. They kept the car for over a week because the knock sensor was on backorder. It was replaced and less than 24 hours later the check engine light was back on. They told me they wanted to replace the engine in a brand new car. I purchased the car 2/2/14. It is now 3/10/14, the car only has 300 miles on it, and has been at the dealer for service 3 times for the same issue. The car has been at the dealer for over 30 days. I am now working with someone from gm and asking them to buy it back from me under the lemon law.
