Power Assist Brake Vacuum problems of the 1996 Chevrolet Suburban

Two problems related to power assist brake vacuum have been reported for the 1996 Chevrolet Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Power Assist Brake Vacuum problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2001

While driving 50 mph applied the brakes and pedal felt hard, and there was no braking action. No accident. Dealer said brake booster had failed, and needed to be replaced.

2 Power Assist Brake Vacuum problem

Failure Date: 12/03/1996

When applying the brakes, the pedal went to the floor, after pumping the brake pedal, the truck finally came to a rest against a parking stump. This was due to a collapsed vacuum in the brake booster. The power brake booster was replaced at this time. The power brake booster was also replaced on 10/16/97, for the same reason with 28,000 miles.
