Seven problems related to brake disc pads have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
1999 Suburban lt low speed brake failure!. Abs kicks in at 1-10 mph, groaning sound accompanies pedal vibration and no stopping power. Started at about 100k. Pads replaced brakes inspected continues to happen brakes pull, wear too quickly, vibrate at times. Poor braking system for such a large heavy weighing truck. This model Suburban has many documented complaints of the same nature and should be recalled and repaired by gm.

Brakes failed to stop and I hit 2 other cars. These brakes don't not stop this vehicle. At this crash the brakes went out totally. I had the brake pads changed 2 times on this vehicle already. Rotors heat/cracked, replaced twice; pads replaced 5 times in first 35,000 miles,pulls right.
Consumer stated when going down hill on a grade traveling 35mph, when he got to the bottom and applied the brakes, the vehicle did not stop, brakes had overheated, consumer could smell the brake shoes and pads, vehicle was taken into the dealer, and they noticed the rotors and drums were overheated, the replaced the rear brake shoes, dealer mentioned it was an aftermarket product. . Consumer stated the brakes on the vehicle overheated, boiling the brake fluid and blowing the drums and the rotors, consumer believes the brakes are under-designed for the weight of the vehicle.
Every 20,000 miles we have to put brakes on front. The brake pads are totally gone by 20,000. We are replacing wtih the best pads avaiable. This still does not help. We have replace the brakes at 21,000miles and at 40,000miles. There has to be something wrong with this system.
