The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. While the contact was driving on normal road surfaces approximately 5 mph, pressure was slightly applied to the brake pedal and unexpectedly the abs engaged. The failure occurred whenever driving at low speeds. There was a recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 05v379000(service brakes, hydraulic:anti-lock); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 205,000.

2 Brake Electric Antilock problem

The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. While driving 10 mph and decreasing speed, the anti lock brakes engaged and increased the distance for him to stop the vehicle. The dealer was contacted and stated that his vehicle was not included in any recalls. The failure was not diagnosed by the dealer and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 133500 and the current mileage was 134000.

Model 1999 Chevrolet Suburban 1500lt bought new in 2000. When attempting to brake at low speeds (< 10 mph) the abs system kicks in, the brakes pulsate heavily, but the vehicle keeps rolling for a few feet, depending on the moving speed at the time the brakes are applied. This has recently led to an accident whereby the vehicle slid into my garage door, luckily causing minimal damage to both car and garage door. The current mileage on the vehicle is 39,900 miles. I have found a recall, but this recall only applies to the 2000 model year Suburban. , whereas the symptoms are exactly the same in my vehicle.

The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. While depressing the brake pedal at 5 mph, the abs would inadvertently activate. As a result, the brake pedal dropped and brake pressure was lost. Gm stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock). The vehicle has not been repaired. The purchase date was unknown. The current mileage was 114,000 and failure mileage was 110,000.

05v379000 in regards to this recall I have a 1999 Suburban that suffers the same issue and called gm and they say it does not fit parameters however it does suffer from low speed abs activation.

The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban 1500. While attempting to decelerate to stop the vehicle the antilock brake system activated. The failure occurred intermittently and always at low speeds when attempting to stop. The contact stated that the brake pedal vibrated, and the vehicle continued to roll for a few feet before stopping completely. He found recall # 05v379000 concerning service brakes, hydraulic antilock. The contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer and was issued case # 71-510478075. The current mileage is 140,000, and failure mileage was 130,000.

- the contact stated that while driving the 1999 Chevrolet Suburban at approximately 5-10 mph the abs engaged and vehicle wont stop immediately. The contact stated this generally happened when he was preparing to stop. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic ,who agreed that the abs engaged when it should not have been. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that there was a recall for this problem. However, it covered the 2000 Chevrolet Suburban. The manufacturer informed the contact that this vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle currently had 100,000 miles.

Our 1999 chevy surburban's abs system started acting up, causing the vehicle to continue moving when the brakes were applied. Our local mechanic informed us that this should be covered under a safety recall. Nhtsa campaign # 05v379000. When we contacted our local dealer we were informed our VIN number was not included in the recall. Clearly, we are experiencing the problems described in your safety recall (NHTSA action # pe05020). I do not know why our VIN # is not included and therein is my complaint. The problem started in the spring of 2006 but has continued to get worse.

There was a recall # 05v379000 regarding the service brakes, hydraulic:antilock which described the exact abs brake problem. The recall included vehicles from 2000 through 2002 only. The manufacturer was contacted who determined the vehicle was not included in the recall due the VIN.

When the vehicle is moving slowly like when approaching a stop sign or parking the brakes do not work, there is a noise and a vibration it is very frightening. After hitting a curb it stopped. I had the brakes looked at they are fine after research found that there is a brake problem but not in 1999. I feel that it is in the 99 also I have a Chevrolet Suburban 1999.

Gm had a recall (05v379000) that did not include the year of my Suburban (1999) nor my state (colorado). . . . . Yet, my problem is exactly the same problem that forced this recall. I think they should include colorado and 1999 Suburban's - I find this to be highly unfair. Today the abs acted up and caused my pregnant wife to nearly hit the car in front of her.

I am experiencing the same problem listed on the recall for abs on my truck. The abs is kicking in at unwanted times and takes forever to stop. I called the dealership about the recall and mine is not in the recall even though I am experiencing the same problems. Why is this model year not included in the recall? what do we need to do to add this model to the recall list? when you are stopping, you can hear the abs kicking in and then you begin to slide. I ended up going through a stop sign at the end of our street and fortunately there was no accident but who knows about the next time. What can we do?.

The contact owns 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. The abs system was not working well. When starting to come to a stop the brakes surged , and had a hard time stopping. Also, heard a groaning noise as he was coming to a stop. The contact stated the pedal pulsated. This occurred at low speeds only. The contact noticed this in March, and it became progressively worse. He cited recall #05v379000. The contact lived in minnesota, and his state was not listed in the recall. He felt like this recall should be expanded to include minnesota because this vehicle was definitely having the same problems as cited in the recall.
