The brake lines rust and they burst this occurred on my main brake line going to the abs controller I had no brakes from mechanics they say this is a common problem on USA made cars brake lines should never ever rust and burst.
Component service brakes, hydraulic:antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip.
I was on the freeway there was traffic I went to slow down my brakes locked up on me my car fish tailed I released the brakes and they were still still locked. Caused me to slid at least 30 feet I was only going 35. Which caused me slam into the center divider.
Anti lock brakes are activating on there own when trying to stop and has almost caused me to crash 4 times. I finally pulled the abs fuse out this stopped it but now I have no abs iam in soap lake washington it shows a recall but only for a few states I bought my Suburban new in boise idaho and now reside in washington state my vehacle is effected extremely bad with this problem.
When I apply the brakes at low speed I feel a chattering like the anti-lock brakes are activated and the car won't stop until I let up and re-apply pressure to the pedal. I've come close to an accident more than once.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban. While driving approximately 5 mph, the brake pedal pulsated without warning. The contact depressed the brake pedal to the floor to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure did not recur. The failure mileage was approximately 220,000.
Tl-the contact owns a 2002 chevy Suburban. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 mph, the anti lock brake activate without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000. Ak.
My antilock brakes are going off at slow speeds, almost causing accident, going about 4-5 mph, need to know if my VIN is covered in recall.
No warning lights on the dash, but upon breaking at slow speed the pedal either pushes back or the brakes slow the vehicle at a frighteningly slow pace, all while the abs system is on as if sliding on ice, but it was and is dry pavement. This happens 95 -100% of every braking attempt. I have taken it to a local mechanic he couldn't figure out what to fix since the computer codes were bouncing all over the place. I see this is a problem after I have done research on the web. I pulled the main abs 60 fuse under the hood to turn off the system. This causes the break warning failure light to come on but I can at least stop the vehicle. This is a failure on a safety system (abs) that actually causes a serious safety issue. . . As each stop is a potential crash.
Went to press on the brake pedal to put the vehicle into drive and the brake pedal went to the floor. I put the vehicle in park got out and brake fluid was coming out from under the car near the front of the drivers door.
Pedal went to the floor without vehicle stopping. Had to use emergency brake.
When braking at less then 10mph the antilocking braking system kicks in and causes the care to go much further to stop. This has almose caused an injury by going over a curb. No antilocking should occur less then 10mph - this is very unsafe due to the fact that braking at under 10mph frequently involves barriers in front of the car where every inch of stopping distance is extremely important. Abs is for when tires break static friction on the road, and, I assure you that no friction is being broken - this is a serious flaw!.

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to properly respond to deceleration attempts. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the anti-lock braking system was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
Have 2002 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 4wd 5. 3 engine a/t. Was driving 45 mph when vehicle suddenly stalled out & lost all steering/brakes. 131,589 miles on odometer at time. Managed to coast vehicle onto shoulder, waited 2 minutes, started vehicle again, pulled out into busy traffic just to make it 2 blocks before stall out again. Repeated this process several more times before I found a gas station. Suspecting water in gas, added 1 bottle of gas line anti-freeze. Drove rest of way home without incident. Replaced fuel filter, pcv valve, air filter, spark plugs, and cleaned throttle body just to have stall out the very next day. No codes are displayed in message center in dash board. Stalls out randomly without a pattern. Wait 1-2 minutes then will start again.
I was driving down road approaching a stop sign and as I attempted to stop I applied brakes which without any warning went to floor and vehicle kept moving. I was lucky there were no other vehicles at stop sign and I was able to put the Suburban in neutral and coast to stop. Vehicle had to be towed.
The anti-lock brake system activated incorrectly at low speed on a steep hill such that the vehicle rolled into the cross street without stopping. Vehicle was in vermont for 4 years prior to the incident.
Brakes line corroded, pedal to the floor.
Non working emergency brake. (recently purchased vehicle used. ) appears to be a very common problem on this class of vehicle by Chevrolet and GMC. Repair is difficult, costly, and generally ineffective. Very dangerous. Not only will the e-brake typically not hold the vehicle from a stand-still. It was never designed to slow the vehicle while it is moving if the hydraulic system fails. Most drivers expect an e-brake to do both. Chevrolet should devise a fix and issue a recall.
Pulsating at braking, longer than neccesary to come to complete stop at low speed , extreme rust to undercarriage, suspension, and brake parts.
My 2002 Chevrolet Suburban z71 (1500) is experiencing anti-lock brake problems. Whenever the car is about to stop, the antilock brakes activate and prevent stopping in a normal distance for slow speeds. This has nearly caused several low speed accidents. I see there was a recall campaign, #05v379000 and I called gm to check if my vehicle was included but they said no, even though my vehicle is in the indicated year range and is exhibiting the exact symptoms described in the recall. This vehicle should be included in the recall too.
1. Normal operation 2. Abs cycling when inching to a stop,on hwy operation abs cycles even when braking and there are no adverse conditions. The problem is sporadic at best. As for consequences,it has not but could lead to accident. 3. Problem is still present.
I had a nearmiss, I came very close to hitting my garage while applying the brakes. When pressing the brake pedal, it locked up completely and the car will not stopped. I had to apply over 100 pounds of pressure for about 40 feet before the vehicle came to a stop.
The anti lock braking system activates when coming to a stop on dry pavement. Typically 10 miles per hour and less. This happens almost 40% of the time when stopping. We almost ran in to the back of a parked vehicle. A recall was performed in January of 2007 but I am wondering if this was actually fixed or just replaced with the same parts that went bad.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban. While approaching a stop at 5 mph, the abs engaged when the brake pedal was depressed, which prevented the vehicle from coming to a stop. The vehicle continued to drive over the curb and the contact had to place the vehicle into park in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle stopped close to an embankment with a 15 to 20 foot drop. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer to inspect the failure and was informed that the vehicle was previously repaired according to NHTSA campaign id number 05v379000, action number pe05020 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock). The contact stated that even though the repair may have been performed, the failure still persists. The dealer is charging $500 to redo the repair. The failure mileage was 62,058.
I have a 2002 chevy Suburban - I had the abs system replaced in 2005 to have it break down again in 2008. The dealer's service department says that there is no recall on it because they haven't heard sufficient consumer complaints to warrant a recall! further, I called Chevrolet's/GMC's service department and they said that they don't read internet complaint boards. All complaints have to be directed straight to chevy's customer service department in order to be input into a "complaint database", then they determine if they have received enough complaints to merit a recall - per industry standards.
At low speeds (<30 mph) abs activates which is leading to an increase in stopping distance. Has potential for accidents in residential and city traffic.
Problem with abs. In the past month while braking at low speeds the brakes did not activate but the abs activated. The consumer has had many near accidents due to this failure.
Parking brake will not hold the car in place and was like that when I bought it new. Unable to repair it to make it hold the car. Problems getting car inspected.
The parking brake on this vehicle has never worked properly since new and now I get a rejection sticker in the state where I live due to this and then have to spend money to repair it and it still does not work. It will not hold even on the slightest incline. Very dangerous.
