77 problems related to carrier/rack have been reported for the 2011 Chevrolet Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Dashnoard is cracking for no reason at all . They all have this issue . Poorly made . In a airbag deployment it can shatter and you will have shards of plastic flying everywhere. The issue happens over time . Some sooner then others.
The dashboard on my vehicle is cracking in two different places. One area is right in front of the drivers seat and the other is in front of the passengers seat where the front airbag is located. I just noticed this problem on November 18, 2018.
Vehicle shuts down while driving and while parked. All electronics shut down, unable to activate hazard lights. Previously payed to fix abs light/sensor. Dash cracked driver side and passenger side. Has happened multiple times prior.
The dashboard is cracked above the instrument cluster/steering wheel - this poses a safety hazard with the airbags and potential debris in the event of an accident - heard a noise and noticed the crack on 11/9/2018.
Dash cracked above instrument panel dash cracked at corner of passenger air bag.
Dashboard has cracked around the air bag area. I am concerned that if in an accident, this could affect air bag performance or dashboard could come apart easier on impact and cause bodily harm.
The dash has developed 2 cracks similar to that reported by other owners. The first crack is in the upper left corner of the passenger air bag. The second crack is from the lower left of the speaker. If in an accident, dash pieces could break off and become flying projectiles.
The dashboard cap cracked for no reason at the corner of the airbag and above the instrument panel. If the airbag deploys there will be plastic from the dashboard cap blown all over the interior of the cabin during an accident.
The dash is cracked over the passenger side airbag and in the middle of the dash just above the center speaker.
In early 2018, we noticed a very small crack in the dashboard just above the steering column cowling and discussed same with our dealership. We were told they'd called gm and then advised us that we'd need to pay $800 and they'd pick up the rest. Knowing this was not our fault and had to be a defect, we refused and have been trying to get the problem resolved. Since that time, the crack has now run to be several inches long. The defective dashboard is a safety risk. Gm has knowledge of the defective dashboards and has done nothing to resolve the issue. Gm had defrauded their customers with unfair and deceptive conduct and has continued to sell/replace defective products.
Dashboard is all cracked around side airbag and may affect deployment. Dash is also cracked at on driver side. Cracks just appeared no accident, regular around town driving.
The dashboard is severely cracked in multiple spots. I fear if involved in an accident my airbags would be compromised. Not to mention one crack is on the passenger airbag which is recalled due to the takata inflators recall that seems to never be resolved. I am aware of many GMC/Chevrolet owners that have this issue.
The dashboard is cracking near instrument panel and passenger airbag causing a debris concern during normal vehicle operation and/or airbag deployment.
Vehicle developed crack across dashboard between passenger airbag and windshield vent panel. Vehicle was stationary and parked in shade when damage occurred.
The dashboard is cracking above the steering wheel and also on the passenger side near the airbag.
Cracked dashboard.
Several cracks on the dashboard that covers the air bag assembly concerned that if the airbag deploys that the plastic from the dashboard will cause bodily harm.
Cracked dashboard. The dashboard in my 2011 Chevrolet Suburban cracked in two places on my way home from work on may 8, 2017. The cracks extend from the seam near the windshield to the front seam of the dash board. One is close to the driver's side instrument cluster an the other leads from the windshield to the passenger-side airbag housing. I was driving on a well paved, four lane road with a center turning lane. The road is well travelled and well maintained. As I stopped at the first light, I heard a cracking and then a clicking sound. The dashboard now vibrates while driving and is visibly loose.
There is a recall with takata airbag and Chevrolet has not furnished a replace the part or fix in a timely manner. Second issue is with dashboard cracking. My Suburban sits under our carport 99% of the time, but yet has a few cracks on the dash. Third issue is corrosion in the undercarriage, and I live in deep south texas where it does not snow, and the beach is 1. 5 hours away from where I live. This vehicle sits on just over 40k miles.
About 6 months after purchasing the vehicle, the dash cracked in two places near the passenger air bag. This afternoon, I noticed the dash developed cracks in the same places. I am worried if the takata air bag deploys, we have an additional issue of dash pieces being thrown across the cabin.
Cracking dash.
I have 3 cracks in the dash of my Suburban. 1 is in the far left, front corner of the passenger side air bag, and the other 2 are in front of the steering wheel, about 8 inches apart. My concern, aside from paying so much money for a vehicle and having the dash crack for no reason, is that the airbag being deployed on the passenger side may send plastic pieces flying at the passengers face. There is obviously a defect in the production of these dashes, as I have read other people state the same issue, in the same spots. I encourage general motors to issue a recall on this part, as it could pose a dangerous situation in the event of an accident. The vehicle was parked during the period the dash cracked.
The dash board on our truck has had a crack in it starting near the windshield and stretching towards the instrument panel. No know reason. The crack continues to grow and is already half way up the dash.
I was driving on a nicely paved road (no bombs, potholes, etc. . . ) when all of a sudden my dashboard cracked! it is now rattling and jiggling and causes a distraction to my line of sight as I'm driving. I went to my dealership and was told that it is not covered under my warranty and I will have to pay the whole amount out of pocket to have it repaired.
The dash on the Suburban has cracked in 2 places. 1 behind the steering wheel and the other behind the passenger airbag area. This is very annoying and noisy, not to mention the danger with the airbag right there.
Dashboard is cracking since 8/19/2016. No accident or rough driving. Ashpalt and concrete driving only.
My dash board has cracks.
Cracked dash on my 2011 chevy Suburban. The cracks extended the length of the dash and up and around the pasasnger airbag.
Dash board cracked in 2 places-this car has been garaged since day one.
Dashboard is cracking in different spots, 2 places in the last few months. I'm concerned that it can possibly come apart while I'm driving. The cracks happened while driving. I know the crack next to the airbag cracked because the material is to thin to support the weight of the speaker in the dash, I'm guessing the rest of the dash is also made the same way, so any vibration or hitting any potholes is causing it to break. I have heard that this is a big problem with all of these gms and gmcs in the mid to late 2000s. Something need to be done about it before someone gets hurt while driving these vehicles. Gm knows about this problem and won't do anything about it. So much for the government bailout!.
I had a crack in my dashboard at the corner of where my airbag is stored. This crack could impact the proper execution of the the airbag being deployed. I purchased this vehicle used an at the time it was a hairline crack which led to a large crack and a break in the dashboard.
Dash is cracked and reports show not a recall and if replace will continue to crack.
Crack that has grown on the dashboard above the steering column.
The dashboard is cracking, cause is unknown, the vehicle has never been in any accidents.
The dashboard is cracked and was already cracked when we bought the car.
