Chevrolet Suburban owners have reported 2 problems related to strut failure (under the suspension category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Yesterday after bouncing all over the road for months and to the point of being unsafe to drive I took the SUV to the dealership only to be told I need 2 new shocks on the front end ($1680). When you spend over $70k on an SUV and just a few years later you need new shocks means clearly something is seriously wrong with the vehicle. After looking around I was correct it is due to a failed magnetic ride system which chevy is aware of and choosing to do nothing. Shame on chevy for doing nothing and ignoring the impact to the customer. This will be the last chevy I ever buy. At least some compensation would be great but the dealership doing the work said no since chevy does not recognize the defect. Front shocks/struts failed at 63,000 miles. Even with an extended warranty you are basically out of luck.

I have a 2015 Suburban ltz and the "magnetic ride" shocks and struts have failed completely. I have almost wrecked this vehicle numerous times due to the uncontrollable bouncing when you hit a bump. It is not an option at this point for me to pay $1500-$3000 for repairs when I already pay $700 a month for a payment. Online there are masses of complaints about this same matter! I spoke with the Chevrolet dealer in jasper, alabama today and I was told that they have had to replace multiple ones in the past few months. I have owned 6 Suburban's including this one and I usually put 200k on every one without any problems! this is the 2nd major malfunction that this truck has had and gm does not want to help out at all!! this vehicle is a safety hazard to drive and I have no choice but to continue driving it. Gm changed to shocks and struts on the 2017 because of this problem.
