2 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 05/01/2020

I was driving my vehicle and the check engine light came on and it stalled out like it didnt want to go. The oil light came on and I barely made it a mile back home. The dealership told me that the lifters were bad and that the cam shaft rod is bent. This is a $60,000 vehicle that is less than 3 years old and they are expecting me to pay for the repair.

3 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 03/26/2019

Recently purchased a used Tahoe from dealership with warranty. While driving in snow making a right turn the stabilitrac light came on, traction control, and abs. The vehicle fishtaled, engine lost response. The abs and stabilitrac warnings continue for a short time and went off. I was able to stop the vehicle safely. Second instance in the rain, on the highway. I was traveling in the fast lane, wanted to move over for a fast moving vehicle behind me. As I was changing lanes the stabilitrac light came on again, this time pulsing the a b s breaks. I had to steer harder to the right, to get out of the way. The throttle response was low as well. The Tahoe is consuming huge amounts of gas. About 13miles per gallon. Drags up hill. Seems like it hard to shift into higher gears. Return to dealership for service. Dealer cleaned throttle body, replaced mass air flow sensor. Returned it to me, I told the dealer to drive it,before I accepted it back. Three codes popped up. Back to chevy for diagnosis. Yaw sensor not communicating, etc. I told the dealer I feel the vehicle isn't safe. I gave them a list of codes off my code reader. It doesn't seem they are taking it into consideration. We haven't had the vehicle a month. The dealer is providing a rental. Seems like a common issue with the Tahoe and other chevy vehicles. The dealer also told me I had to recreate the problem and/or have the check engine light on for warrenty. The stabilitrac lights comes on intermittently as well as check engine light. I don't think that's fair. They are however trying to figure out the issues. I feel like they sold me a car with known issues.

4 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 02/07/2019

Driving down highway traction control light, check engine light, stabilitrax off, service stabilitrax, engine power reduced lights came on. Engine also idled erratically and would try to jump the car forward when slowing down to a stop. Could turn off car for a few mins and it would reset and turn back on and drive normal for a few miles with check engine light on, then do it again. Used heet because thought it was bad fuel but continued doing it.

6 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 03/10/2018

I purchased my Tahoe from the dealer brand new and always took it to get serviced at the same dealer. In 2015 I took it in for a check engine light and they said there was a misfire and they replaced the camshaft and machined the heads stating that the valves were leaking. Repairs cost nearly $3000. This year 2018 in March the engine light came on again. The dealer stated that there was a misfire in a cylinder the same cylinder that was mifiring 3 years prior. They said a roller on the rocker disintergrated and repairs would cost close to $6000 this is not due to anything I did the vehicle does even have 100,000 miles on it. No harsh driving or anything like that. I believe this is a manufacturing issue. Not a safety issue but I think it is a manufacturing defect.

7 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 02/12/2016

Started with a #4 misfire and no engine power and dealer said truck was fine. Finally after 4 cylinder misfiring, dealer agreed truck had an issue and is now saying I need a valve job done for # 1800. 00 but it looks like I should tell them that its the lifters. . 74,000 on my 2007 Tahoe for a 25,000. 00 truck not only that but they are saying if that don't fix it then I need to pay 3500. 00 for a cam shaft. Its running but check engine light stays on.

8 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 11/05/2015

I bought my 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe brand new. People laugh at me because I've always dealt with the dealership on everything including all oil changes. Now I'm being told that I have lifter and cam problems. I complained about the engine light being on 5 months prior to be told this. I was informed that the check engine light was on because of the tps sticking. I'm a single mother of 2. I purchased a new vehicle not to have these kind of problems especially since I've always taken my truck to the dealership. I cant afford a new engine, my truck is parked and I have to get rides to work from CO-workers. I cant sleep nor work.

9 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 05/24/2015

A pop was heard under the engine area and immediately after that the car began to idle very rough. It would not run properly and had to pull off the street into a gas station. Inside the car the check engine light and the stabilitrak service soon light were on. After several minutes we turned the car off and then on again, we decided to move again and the idling was worse. The stabilitrak and check engine light were flashing on and off. We began to move but the car was idling very bad and shifting very hard after a few feet of movement. We drove the car to the nearest firestone dealer to see what the problem was. Firestone called to notify us that the cylinder #1 was either stuck/froze and that we would need to open the cylindercover to see exactly what was wrong. The next day firestone notified us that the cylinder rod was broken and that we needed to do a cylinder replacement on the car. The car only had 88k miles and we are the original owners, this is too early to have these problems on a car with less than 100k miles. I found some articles on-line where this is an ongoing problem with gm and that the 20007-08, 5. 3l v8 engines, the first with the flex fuel system, are starting to fail at the 80k plus miles range. We have had our service performed at our local chevy dealer and the car has been maintained well. It is an expensive repair that should not be required on a car with low miles and good maintenance records. Firestone has fixed the car for $2,600. 00 dollars, and car rental fees. This engine failure is a defect and a serious design flaw and we as consumers should not have to deal with this expensive repair without any help from gm if they are aware of this problem and have not filed a formal recall on this model year engine. This could be a dangerous condition if your driving on the highway and the car looses the engine performance at high speeds.

12 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 01/28/2013

I was driving on the long island expressway ( 495) at about 2 pm on 1/28/13, I was in the middle lane at about 65mph when suddenly the check engine light came on and a message came up saying, service stabilitrak, then engine power reduced. This caused my vehicle to slow down to that 65mph to about 35 rapidly. I was able to move over and pull over to the side of the road. Once I stopped the car it was idling very rough. I turned off my car and turned it back on and was able to reset my computer. I went to my mechanic and was told it was a 2135 error code( a throttle body sensor issue).

13 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 01/11/2012

I have an 07 Tahoe and have read from other people that this is happening to alot of others as well. I had my truck inspected at the chevy dealer in lake elsinore. They said it could be a number of things and thought that cleaning my intake system would fix the problem. It was fine for one day then out of nowhere driving on the freeway my stability trac light comes on and the check engine light and says reduced engine power . I had my wife and kids in the truck and find it funny that I guess this has happened to others with different vehicles but the same year GMC yukons. I had the same problem as one and they were near semi trucks. This is not good even worse when you are no longer under the warranty and the dealer can't tell you exactly what it is but wants to try everything. That is wrong. This is dangerous to have happen and even worse when the dealer wants to say they are not exactly sure but find out from reading about others vehicles like mine with the same problem and no help.

14 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 06/10/2011

The reduced engine power light came on and reduced the car's power to only be able to go 20 mph. I did reach 30 mph with a down-slope. I was very scared and had my two children in the car. Thankfully, I was able to safely pull over to the side of the road. Upon researching this issue with my car make and model, it seems to be a common problem and a very serious issue. The engine's power just pulled back without warning! I am taking the car to be serviced tomorrow but cannot fathom to think what could have happened!.

15 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 04/14/2009

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle was started to mis-fire. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the piston rings were fracturing and needed to be replaced. The dealer advised the contact that replacing the piston rings would not correct the failure and that the engine would require replacement. The dealer stated they would not rebuild the engine even though just replacing the rings will not correct the problem. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was consuming excessive oil for a period of three years. The vehicle was scheduled for repairs. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 80,000.
