The plastic dash cover is cracked in several locations. A small crack located in front of the passenger side airbag compartment and numerous cracks on the drivers side domed area above the cluster of gauges. This does concern me because if a frontal accident were to occur, I fear the plastic dash will certainly cause serious damage to the driver and passenger. This happened while driving and I heard a loud pop.

Tahoe slams back into 2nd gear, gauges drop to zero and can only go about 5mph. The traction control and abs light comes on and the radio turns on and off by its self also the lock will go up and down. This happens out of the blue 3 times going highway speeds. The speedometer will go up and down as well. If I slow down to pull over and try to pick up speed to get over th gas petal seems to not respond. I've been fighting this issue since may of 2018 and it has been in the shop off and on many many times and is currently in the shop for the same thing. . I've already replaced battery cables, tried a battery, new fuse box, new bcm also found service bulletins that states the exact problem to the t and nothing works! you can go online and find hundreds of people that had the sales issue. But nothing seems to fix it. I have versions of it messing up because other people thought I was crazy that it had this issue and then I show them and they are like wow that is crazy!.
Dashboard is cracked over the airbags and over the gauges in front of the driver. Serious safety hazard if the air bags were to go off and send plastic shards flying. Dash was already cracked when I purchased the vehicle and it's scheduled to be fixed.
My dash split around the passenger side airbag and on the drivers side on the hood above the gauges. It's ridiculous how wide spread of a problem this is on these year model, yet Chevrolet charges $360 for the replacement part.
The dashboard has a diagonal crack from the upper left hand corner of the air bag cover toward the driver and window. It is approximately 1 inch long and . 060 wide. There is also a crack on the dash above the instrument gauges that is approximately 3 inches long and some what thin and jagged. It starts slight left of the drivers line of sight where there is a transition radius and runs toward the windshield. Both of these cracks occurred during freezing outside temperatfures.
Dash board cracked in 2 places over the last week. First crack occurred over the gauge clusters, and the second crack occurred over the passenger side airbag.

2008 Chevrolet Tahoe. Noticed cracks on the dashboard towards the front passenger side near the air bag components and cracks on the driver side near the gauges. The approximate failure mileage was 113,500.
Dashboard has 3 cracks. One next to passenger airbag, one that starts close to windshield and moves towards the dash gauges straight at the driver and the last one is next to the gauge crack but smaller. It seems this is a constant problem with gm. It has to be a safety issue with it being next to airbag and in front of driver as well. These cracks appear because of the cheap plastic and nothing else.
Dash has started cracking more started on top by gauges and now has another crack by airbag on pass side. Called dealership said its out of warranty gm wont cover it, although its manufactured defect.

My dash has 2 cracks that have appeared under normal driving conditions. The dash is starting to bounce as I drive and im worried it will become separated and hit someone in the truck. There are so many Tahoe owners who have this same problem, it is obvious that it is a defective part. I have a crack in the center and 1 over the driver side gauges.
The piece broke off the bottem latch to the frame on the seat for the 3rd row seating and sometimes the seatbelt want latch in back seat. Dashboard gauge lights blown alot of inside gage lights are not working and heater/air stopped working on number 5 fan.

My dash is cracked across hump over speedometer gauges and cracked on side of passenger airbag. Just got in my car one morning to notice the dash cracked in two places. Worry about it cracking more and if passenger airbag goes off, possibly some pieces break off and fly with airbag.
Vehicle was stationary. Dashboard cracked in two spots over time. Vehicle has not been in an accident. First crack was noted over the instrument panel of the vehicle's gauges that are used to determine speed, rpms, etc. Second was noted adjacent to the front passenger airbag. If the vehicle were in an accident, the cracked dashboard could puncture the airbag rendering the airbag unusable and allowing for more bodily harm and possibly fatality. Also, if the vehicle were in an accident and the airbags did deploy without being punctured, the cracked dashboard could then become shrapnel causing more bodily harm and possibly fatality to anyone that is a passenger in the vehicle. I urge the NHTSA to look into this matter and research it heavily. Chevrolet and gm are aware that this is a common issue with many of their vehicles of the '07-'11 models, yet refuse to take any corrective action. I obtained a repair estimate from a certified Chevrolet dealership for $761. 63.
The dashboard on my 2009 Tahoe cracked just to the left of the airbag on the passenger side and then several months later cracked above the gauge cluster. I contacted gm, along with many other owners with this issue, as I am concerned about the safety - since it was so close to the air bag.
Dash cracked from corner of passenger side defrost vent to airbag, and again from the defrost vent to over dome over driver cluster and any thing wet can get into components of the speedometer and rest of stuff in there. Trucks never been kept in sun, and had one dealership already confirmed that its a defect in product not caused by elements or lack of care, or anything done to it. Its parked most times and it's getting worse, im handicapped and vehicle only used when im driving or in it. I'm not happy about this bc it's not like this was a cheap vehicle and im on fixed income, and paid cash and extended warranty will not cover cosmetic. Its almost splitting at top now on driver side to go around the front of dash. Also had to replace battery and alternater only at 50k miles and warning light never came on, noticed dimming of lights when applying brake pedal and while driving the voltage gauge kept going to 0 and back to 14 back and forth, got to dealer and again tried sending me home but finally tested original altenater and it wasn't working so replaced and cost me $100 but still no warning or engine light and then dealer had to tow my vehicle again bc system no updated found problem by another dealer, under coating coming off and rust on top by rack on roof on each side. This was a $68k vehicle and because of defects and not a recall we're responsible for half cost, dealers want over $500 for something that is a design or product of poor quality, this is how chevy/ gm buyers are treated when buying one of the top luxury vehicles. What company does this, I paid cash for this dream vehicle and the product is all over internet and lawsuits bc of product defect, cheap products used but sold as top of line. Wow.
The dash is starting to crack. There is one crack by the passenger side air back and another just above the gauge cluster. I'm unsure if the vehicle was stationary or in motion when the dash cracked.

Dash board has cracked directly behind drivers side gauges. Also has cracked on passenger front left corner of dash air bag. This is defiantly a safety issue plastic shrapnel could be project if the bag is deployed. Please recall this problem.
My speedometer quit working. Beforehand the oil gauge quit working. Only when its hot outside or I have been driving my vehicle for approx 30 mins, the speedometer quits working. I have been the soul owner of this vehicle since I bought it off the lot in 2004. I was never notified of any recalls.

I own a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4, I purchased it with 80000 miles on it. When I start the car or I am driving all my gauges on my instrument cluster pass beyond the maximum level, even my speedometer sometimes I will be going 40mph but it is marking 80mph. My temperature gauge, my battery gauge, my fuel indicator gauge, even my oil pressure gauge stopped working. The worst part is that my prndl and info center also dissappear while I am driving and they re-ulimunate sometimes after few minutes sometimes for days. The dealer said they have no fix for this, other mechanics said that gm has this issue on most of their trucks and suvs. I think this issue is very unsafe for drivers especially when all your gauges stop working or work improperly or dissappear from your screen, I beleive this can be dangerousto drivers as well as other people on the road and gm should find a fix for it. Thank you.
Vehicle dashboard began cracking on passenger side between defrost vent and passenger-side air bag. Then it cracked above the gauges on the driver's side, which now has started running toward driver. My concern is that the entire dashboard will shatter if either of the air bags explode. This seems to be a very common issue among 2007 gm Tahoes, suburbans and yukons. The local dealer will not acknowledge that this is affecting vast numbers of vehicles.
There is a crack on the top part of the dash and it just keeps cracking. I a, scared its going to affect the gauges and airbag, I use a windshield cover so I am not sure why this happened. I paid way to much for this to happen. But I have seen where multiple people have had the same problem .
While driving 65mph on the interstate in very good driving conditions, I heard a loud pop and realized that my dash had cracked. The crack originally stretched 6-7 inches from the edge of the dash close to the windshield above the gauge cluster toward the driver. The crack continues to lengthen and my concern is this presents a safety hazard that increases as the crack gets longer. Another crack is forming where the airbag is located which will present a considerable hazard in the event of an airbag deployment as any shards of plastic could become potential projectiles that may cause serious harm to myself or a passenger. I have been a lifelong loyal gm customer and I disappointed with the performance of this component. I brought this concern to the attention of the local dealership and they will not address the obvious failure of the dashboard.
Dash has 2 large cracks above the instrument panel and another one at the passenger airbag. During operation, stabilitrak light comes on, all gauges go to zero, doors begin locking/unlocking, vehicle loses power, radio goes out and clock resets, lights flash, and battery dies as soon as ignition is turned off. Numerous calls to gm and visits to dealership. No fix as of yet. This has been going on for years. Now odometer has reset to zero.
I want to add to the known issue with the cracked dashboards on this series of gm trucks. I have a crack just above the passenger side airbag. The second crack is above the gauge panel on the drivers side. My concern is the crack on the passenger side. I fear that if in a crash, the plastic on the dash will fragment and send sharp pieces flying. This is a safety issue.
Speedometer, tachometer, and oil pressure gauge on my 2005 chevy Tahoe stopped working. All of them began to operate sporadically before they stopped completely stopped working. Not only is it extremely dangerous for the speedometer to not work correctly, as it should, but it also leaves me to bear the burden of a financial loss of speeding tickets or any accidents that were caused by its failure. First, the oil pressure gauge stopped work, then the tachometer, and then the speedometer. All of them did the same thing when they stopped working, so I began to think there maybe a bigger problem. Once I started doing some research on-line, I found there was a huge population of 2003-2005 gm vehicle owners affected by this defect. There obviously should have been a recall and probably some lawsuits as well. Please help me.

I have had a cracked dash over the air bag for several years and then another crack happened over by the gauge cluster so it's broken all the way through and the dealership will do nothing but charge me way to much to replace it. How do we get this fixed?.
