The fuel gauge was reading 1/4 tank and suddenly the gauge went to empty and the driving distant went blank. After a short time the gauge read 3/4 tank, then went off again, then reset itself to 1/2 tank. This has happened quite frequently since then. It only happens once the fuel level gets less than 3/8 of a tank.

The incident is the vehicle stalling on the interstate which could have lead to a accident if the vehicle behind me had not swirved at the last moment. The fuel guage registerd 3/4 tank of gas. Once stopped at the next exit I was able to put 25 gallons in the tank. I have since noticed that the guage will read sporatic readings but then settle back to around the 3/4 tank mark.

I have a 2003 chevy Tahoe. I've run out of gas on three occasions because the vehicle gauge on the dash will report the gas tank has 1/4 tank left, the vehicle digital range will report the same thing ,but the car runs out of gas. I have to fill up the vehicle when the gas gauge reads 1/2 full out of fear that the gauge is lower than it actually. Twice I've run out of gas on I-295 in heavy traffic and was forced to negotiate a harrowing manuever to leave the center lane of the three lane highway to get to the shoulder as the car was not under power.

Every time I start my vehicle, my gas light goes on and indicates I am low on fuel when I have gas in it. After driving for awhile the needle will go up but it is not giving an accurate reading of how much gas is in the tank.
The gas gauge in my 2007 chevy Tahoe has drastic fluctuations and mis-readings. I can get in the truck, start it and the gauge may read 1/4-1/2 full and the estimated gas range may say 130 miles. I can then turn the truck off, restart it, and the reading sometimes goes down to empty and I'll get a "low fuel" warning. This seems to happen very regularly, but most often when the tank is around 1/4 full (or supposed to be 1/4 full). This creates situations on the highway where I think I've got plenty of time and mileage before having to find a gas station. If I stop at a rest stop and resume travel, my reading may suddenly go to low fuel or very low fuel status, in the middle of no-where. My son in law has a similar vehicle (2007, Cadillac escalade) built on the same chassis and experiences the same issue, so I'm wondering if there is a product defect at hand. Please help.
Car has troubles starting at a half tank. Won't start when under half tank, even if there is gas in tank.
The gas tank rusts out around where the fuel pump is attached to the gas tank due to lack of drainage and precipitating the failure of the fuel pump. Just in my circle of friends who own Chevrolets all have had the same incident happen. Poor design by manufacturer. Fuel could also leak from this type of failure.

The gas gauge module was faulty, causing me to run out of gas at high speed and lose power to steering and brakes. Out of gas even though it read that I had a quarter of a tank. Luckily no accident or damage done. However it cost 650. 00 to replace this module.

Leased 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe Feb 2002. Serviced from oct 2003 thru Feb 2004 after a sept 2003 oil change tire rotation service and conserns of fuel smell and suspension squeaks. Services were performed corrections were done new sending unit installed. October 27,2003 the gas tank on the Tahoe burst when fueling at a gas station requiring fire and police unit to be sent. Vehicle towed to dealership. Vehicle was in service for 3 weeks for safety reasons. I did not want the vehicle back and gm customer assistance gave me false hopes of a release on the lease. I did not recieve any help with these situations and still have the unsafe vehicle. Recently I thought my troubles would be over. I found a vehicle that I want to buy and can trade my lease in with gm's pull ahead program. Because I did not pay 2 of the payments on the Tahoe when I could not use the vehicle and lost my income to pay at that time, my Feb 2002 turn in date has changed to may 2005. This makes me uneligible for the pull ahead even though I have a extenuating circumstance. I did not ask for these problems and do not want to pay for something im not getting. I have lost alot by not having reliable transportation and all I seek is a new good reliable SUV to buy and walk away from this problemed Tahoe, with help from someone gm and the dealership has not helped in any way.

Hesitation in starting, vehicle registered no gas when it had full tank. Started in Aug 2003 through July 2004. Was put in shop on 5 occasions, and was told nothing was wrong. July 2004 my vehicle wouldn't start. My fuel level sensor, and gauge were out. Parts were finally replaced but was told they would go out again without warning.
While traveling on the highway and without prior warning gasoline was leaking from gas tank.
While vehicle was parked in my driveway - for approximately 30 hours - it lost almost 1/2 tank of gas. Spouse (a mechanic for 25 years) identified an obvious fuel leak on the vehicle, but dealership inspection stated they found nothing, that there were no "codes" identified, thus no failure.
Consumer states that the fuel tank leaks at the top of the tank. Mr.
There is a protective shield that covers gas tank located at lowest part of gas tank. Water gets trapped, and tank is rusting from the outside inward. Also, has been smelling gas. Please provide any further information.

First owner detected a strong fuel smell. About two weeks later, owner noticed a puddle of fuel on the garage floor. Truck was taken to dealer where a crack was found in the fuel tank where the fuel pump was inserted into tank. Fuel tank was replaced at owner's expense.
This failure could have resulted in serious fire. Mechanic replied he was very suprised when the vehicle did not catch on fire due to the fule tank module wires being burnt to the inside wall of the gas tank. The only indication of the problem at time of driving was a total system shut down on the road.
Fuel tank cracks, resulting in leakage/fumes.
Gas tank has failed two times resulting in gasoline expulsion.
Comsumer took the car to get the gasoline gauge fixed. Two days later noticed that there was a gasoline leak which caused underside of the car to be soaked with gasoline.
When driving the fuel gauge doesn't work prorely. When tank is on empty there is another 6-8 gallons left in the tank.
