2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2018

Recently bought a car that I believe they are illegally passing the inspections on. They proclaimed that fixed a major part to keep the tires on my car tie rods and cv axel. Just short time after it looked like the part was never replaced just tightened up and shortly after we had all kinds of issues with the brakes and anything that keeps the car driveing safely the brakes went out on me so I called to see what they did and why they never fixed it the berry next day they repo the car as if they are trying to hide and cover up the scams they have on people my kids are in that car daily it should be never passed the inspection we have had to pay for most of that. I believe all the cars in there lot need to be inspected by a federal agent or something I've found alot of the same complaints online about same issues and I even know other people who have bought from them all with the same issues they are fraud and you need to stop them before someone gets killed and dies from one of there faulty vehicles my issue happened and happens while driveing they also took both of the brake caliber pins that hold it in place to the point to where it came off completely I almost died guys they are bad people to buy from.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2017

I pulled into my garage and shut my truck off but my doors wouldn't unlock. Then it started making funny ticking sounds and all my lights inside started flicking and my windows all rolled up and wouldn't go back down so I could get out. After about 20 minutes or so I turned it back on and was finally able to get my door unlocked to get out. Now when I touch anything my other windows go up and my seat starts to move on its own. My driver's window is stuck up and won't come back down. I have 5 kids and can not chance something happening and us not being able to get out safely.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2017

My entire instrument panel is inoperative. I am unable to tell my speed, fuel level, oil level and pressure, temperature, whether or not my high beams are on or off, or whether the cruise control is engaged. I use my gps as a speedometer and have run out of gas on high-speed limited access highways 4 times. The dealer wants nearly $500 to fix this although it's a common problem (see google). Running out of gas on the interstate is a matter of life and death. I've asked to speak with a zone rep and gotten nowhere. The two photos were taken on 3/9/2017. One with the engine running and one with the engine off. There's no difference!!!.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2016

Instrument cluster keeps going out than lights back up.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2016

While highway driving with cruise control engaged I heard a loud whining sound and experienced a sudden loss of power. I was almost hit from behind several times before I could get the vehicle over into the right lane. When I took the vehicle to my mechanic I was told the cooling fan clutch assemble had failed. I have had this fan replaced three times now and am not at all pleased that this vehicle has not been recalled for this problem. I have read that this is a "common" problem on this vehicle that can cause a severe accident. I have receipts for the repairs but have no way to upload them.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2016

Faulty gauges. Gauges sometimes work, sometimes don't. When not working, service engine light comes on first and then nothing works on dash panel except signal lights. When it does work, normal startup of lights. Being the odometer is digital, no way of knowing how many miles I have gone which goes hand in hand with gas gauge not working so not a clue how much I have.

I see they have recalls on other years for this exact same problem. 2. My seat belt cathes really tight and wont release casusing me pain. 3. My headlights regular beams keep coming loose and blowing out. Ive had to fix this three times and I have only owned the vehicle for a week. Twice during driving at night once I am not sure when it blew. 4. The front suspension is having problems and I believe may be a recall issue. It makes loud noise like its cracking or breaking, while driving.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Numerous problems associated with car. Windows don't come down, doors don't unlock, and other issues.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2014

I was slowing down as I was entering an intersection and there was traffic in front of me. I suddenly lost all power steering and power brakes and struck the car in front of me. None of the occupants of either vehicle was hurt, per police report. On my way to the collision center near home, the cab of the truck filled suddenly with very black smoke, so thick I couldn't see and had to immediately try to pull off the road. By the time I got to the side of the road there were flames in the cab as well. When I finally got out of the truck my clothes were on fire. I was taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital and had to be treated for 1st and 2nd degree burns of the face, scalp, eyes, calf, and both hands. My right (dominant) hand was burned the worst, as I had tried to get to the fire extinguisher I kept in the back. The entire truck burned except the last row of seats (partially burned) and the back door. I am still having to go to a wound care center on a weekly basis, and my bandages have to be changed daily. I had to get a flat-top haircut to get rid of all my hair burned off, and I have to have help for almost everything since my "good" hand was the worst injured. I haven't gotten a good night's sleep since, due to pain and nightmares about burning. I feel as though my life has been torn apart, all because of something very wrong with my vehicle that shouldn't have been.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2014

I was simply trying to clean my windshield with the wiper blades. When I flicked the switch the car shut off. I immediately got over and turned truck back on. A couple days later I was leaving out for work when I tried to start the car, it stalled and I heard a hissing noise. I couldn't get it to turn over or make any noise other than hissing. The speedometer started moving back and forth erotically. The radio and power windows works but the engine would not turn over. I had it towed to my repair man and he told me there was a electric problem and to call the gm dealership for further assistance. The truck will not start up. There is a short. It shuts off constantly while driving and sometimes I have to push it to avoid oncoming traffic. It won't sped up past 60 without troubling the transmission. While driving sometimes the speedometer doesn't work at all or it jumps, around without reading my correct speed. When I try turn signals it cuts off. When I turn my lights on and off it hisses. Something has to be done. Its my only means of transportation and I really need to find a solution.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2014

I was driving my '02 chevy Trailblazer on the interstate. The vehicle slipped and fishtailed a bit and I pressed the brakes to bring the vehicle to a stop. When the vehicle came to a stop, I tried to accelerate forward, but it would not move. The vehicle had not turned off on its own. I manually shut off the engine and restarted the vehicle and proceeded to move onto the shoulder of the interstate. I then noticed smoke and a small flame coming from under the hood near the front passenger tire/wheelhouse. The flames got bigger and soon it spread to the entire engine. The flames started near the right passenger wheelhouse and moved to the left driver wheelhouse. In about 20 minutes the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames. I have no idea how or why a fire started. I looked at forums online and many vehicles like mine have caught on fire while driving.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2014

My 02 Trailblazer I bought used 4 days after I bought it the right turn signal would flash quick if I hit the brake but would be normal without pushing break. Than my brake lights started flickering and stopped working except for the middle one. Now when I turn my right turn signal on my reverse lights come on left turn signal flickers almost all the taillights flicker when on. I did research and found a recall for that problem and was wondering if my vehicle is one that was recalled the number is- gm recall no. 04087.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

All Trailblazer tahoes and envoys have the problem when you disconnect the battery it causes theses actuators to slam open and shut breaking them. The dealership is telling me almost 2000 dollars to fix this safety issue. This is a safety issue because I live in michigan and depend on the heat to unthaw my windshield. Considering this is a manufactures problem and any mechanic knows to disconnect the battery to work on the vehicle. So what is this crap? do I have to retain a lawyer for this issue if someone could please contact me at [xxx] my name is [xxx] I would like to resolve this issue with a recall. Heat in winter I would say is a safety issue that needs to be recalled. I will be persistent with this. Thank you information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

20 Electrical System problem

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

When I start my vehicle, the abs and brakes lights go on, security light, and radio shuts off, or is on with no sound, the 4 wheel drive light flashes back and fourth between 4 wheel and 2 wheel drive, engine shuts off, while driving, then turns back on, this is the same problem all the recalled gm cars are having why is the 2002 tralblazer not part of the recall?.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2013

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the brakes failed without warning. The contact was able to safely pull over to the shoulder where the vehicle started to smoke and caught on fire. The fire was contained by the local fire department. A fire report was not filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was destroyed and was not inspected for the cause of the fire. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2013

When driving the check gauges light illuminated and the oil pressure gauge was at zero. This occurred when I slowed and then stopped at a traffic light after having driven for about 20 minutes (the vehicle sounded as if it were about to turn off so I pulled over and turned it off). When looking at the instrumentation panel I then noticed the check battery light is dimly illuminated (battery is 6 mo old) and various readings are off (rpg is registering low and one rpm indicator starts at 5 when the ignition is turned on). Various Trailblazer forums are indicating owners are experiencing the same problem. Two Chevrolet dealerships have indicated that it is likely an instrumentation cluster problem (and indicate they have guidance from gm to run 2 checks to determine if it is an instrumentation cluster problem). Two independent repair shops have identified it as an instrumentation cluster problem that they have seen on many 2002 Trailblazers. The repair costs range as high as $750. Gm customer assistance can only state this is not a recalled repair (applies to later models but not 2002); therefore, it is the customer's responsibility. My gm file # is [xxx]. Gm did ask that I pay $80 for the diagnostics, while also saying they would not pay for the repairs. Adding an additional $80 to costs or paying a dealership more money than an independent shop is not practical nor an added expense I should assume. Most amazing is that gm can give dealerships instructions on diagnosing this problem, dealerships are repairing a far amount of vehicles with this problem, independent repair shops are aware of this problem because of the many customers who patronize them, yet gm takes no responsibility for correcting this known problem. . This is dangerous, the car can stall anywhere and lead to an accident without customers having any idea of the problem. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

Outside temperature displaying 50 degrees regardless of actual outside temperature. When actual temperatures below freezing this represents a hazard. When temperatures above 50 degrees air conditioning not responsive (even when temperatures in excess of 100 degress, "heater" comes on due to erroneous outdoor temperature reading). Poor fuel mileage results from incorrect air/fuel mixture at actual air temperatures more than 20 degrees +/- 50 degree system temperature.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

Above date & mileage is approximate. I am only able to activate driver's side window. No other windows operate from driver's door panel. I was told that there was a recall, but I never received any information about the recall. I have owned the car since around 2004.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2012

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the low beam lights failed and the driver's side window failed to open. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 87,000.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2012

Tl-the contact owns a 2002 chevy Trailblazer. The contact stated while driving at 10 mph, on coming off the highway, the oil indicator registered low oil pressure and the check gauges warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that there is also a loss of power steering. The vehicle was diagnosed by a independent mechanic but the failure is unknown. The failure recurred intermittently. The manufacture was not notified. The failure mileage 145000. Am.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2012

I have had multiple issues with my 2002 chevy Trailblazer where the 4x4 selector switch will not work, or while driving at highway speeds the vehicle will be put into four wheel drive while the selector switch is still turned on two wheel drive. The selector switch at times has not worked when I wanted to make the vehicle go into four wheel drive. I have found out the vehicle is in four wheel drive by having a hard time turning the front wheels and seeing the front tires spin on loose gravel even though I never switched the vehicle into four wheel drive and the selector switch states it's still in two wheel drive but the yellow light is lit up that it's in four wheel drive. I have complained multiple times to gm and have had the selector switch replaced 3 times but it still continues to happen. Everytime that gm looks at it they say that it is working just fine. I have seen and heard that many other people are having the same problems with this. I feel there should be a safety recall put out for this drive selector switch.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2011

I feel that even if you have had a recall issue once and the situation continues to happen then it needs to be fixed until the problem is solved I have contact gm several time and nothing has been done to ratify my problem with the windsheild wipers and the 4 wheel drive and several other recall issues this is sad I say we need a class action law suit I am not one to to take legal action but for people that have this kind of money and to not fix their problem that they put out on the roads for us to drive safely is shameful.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2011

My 2002 Trailblazer 4x4 came locked up completely with no possibility to even open door with the key. Chevy dealer blamed the module vcm located under the behind seat that must be changed. Re-programing all seems working but erratically until the effective change of vcm module. Is there a possibility to repair it ? thanks all, regard, eric.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2010

Intrument panel quits functioning at any given time and may start working at anytime, accuracy is questionable. This includes speedometer, temperature, charging and fuel guages.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2010

The rear right and left brake lights and rear turn signal lights have burned out repeated. I purchased the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer in December 2001. The problem first started to occur when the brake lights failed at 30,000 miles in 2003. I had to replace the circuit boards the lights plug into at my own cost to fix the problem. There was a recall to replace the circuit boards in 2004, NHTSA #04v527000, which I had performed on the vehicle. Subsequently the circuit boards burned out again a few years later. I took the vehicle back to the dealership and they said they wouldn't replace the circuit boards at their expense. I then purchased and installed the circuit boards myself. In 2010 the circuit boards burned out again. I took the vehicle back to the dealership and they investigated and said they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle other than the circuit board. They charged me $191. 50 to investigate the problem and change out the circuit boards again. This is a safety issue because the rear brake lights and rear turn signal lights not working increases the risk of a crash. I received a ticket/warning on 2-2-11 for the brake lights not working but expect the brake lights will become inoperative again soon as this is the 5th set of circuit boards that have been placed in the vehicle and they keep burning out, and Chevrolet/general motors hasn't supplied a satisfactory correction to solve the problem. Current mileage is 159,000 and the problem started at 30,000.

35 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2009

Details: I have a 2002 chevy Trailblazer. When I press on the accelerator the vehicle will lose power for a moment and regain power in heavy traffic. Also, the service engine light will come on. I took this vehicle to a service center and they told me the repairs that it supposedly needed . Everything from the fuel pump to every sensor that you can think of . Now it seems to be something with the electrical system. I have already replaced the whole steering collum and everything that they suggested . But the problem with the vehicle did not change. This vehicle has been doing this for 8 months with . I believe that there is a electrical issue somewhere in my vehicle. Somebody help!.
