Seven problems related to instrument panel have been reported for the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The indicated vehicle is my wife's. We bought it brand new on 09/26/2001. She has never towed anything and has city and highway miles. We have had numerous problems: instrument cluster, rear tailgate strap, right rear brake light, (3) solenoids, spare tire dropdown and deteriorated transmission lines. I have repaired all of the previous out of pocket (except for the strap and the spare tire dropdown). Now, my wife was on the way to the bicycle store in her truck, with the bicycle on the back. She was making a turn onto the main road when she heard grinding and squealing, and the speed dropped drastically. Luckily, it was around 10am when there is not much traffic on the road. Reading numerous posts on this website, it is the same problem everyone has had, the transmission sun shell, and no reverse. With 98911 miles, I was about to spend the weekend changing the fluid in the transmission to keep it to spec. Now, I'm looking at a very expensive bill of which I cannot afford. $30 is easier than $1200. And, I'm a manufacturing engineer, so I check fluids regularly, even though the oil change stations check them. Seeing that there are problems with these components, I think that general motors should produce a recall. I'm very disappointed that with all of the complaints, nothing has been done to remedy the situation. We will be calling the dealer that we bought the vehicle from first thing Monday morning.
Instrument dash cluster does not work upon start. No battery, oil, gas, speedometer. Needles do not move at all.
The electrical gauges on our 2002 chevy Trailblazer did not function properly when the fan clutch failed, leading to engine overheating. The overheated engine blew the head gasket before the engine itself blew up. My husband was had just backed out of the driveway and had driven about 200 yards when this happened. It is important to note that warning systems malfunctioned: there were no lights, bells or any indication that complete engine failure was imminent. There wasn't even the odor of an overheated engine. If this had happened on our local freeway I could be suing gm over my husband's injury or death.
The speedometer no longer displays the correct speed. It will still display the speed but is very different than the actual speed of the vehicle. When the vehicle is in park the needle will be well below 0.
2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer with problems with car radio customer wants reimbursement for repairs* some type of electrical problem caused a loud pop to come through the speakers. The caused the radio to short out and the speakers to blow. The radio and speakers had been replaced several times. The amplifier also had to be replaced. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer on numerous occasions but they have been unable to correct the problem. The middle seat belt in the second row locked up as soon as it was fastened into the buckle. When the defroster was used the consumer heard a clicking noise. The dealer replaced the mode actuator and mode valve per TSB 04-01-38-002. The quarter panel on the roof seam sealer cracked and was rusted. The pull down strap on the rear hatch broke. The sway bar broke. A grinding noise was heard coming from the left front wheel when making sharp left turn. The dealer determined that suspension was misaligned and caused shield to touch rotor. The instrument cluster gauge was inoperative. The rear wiper did not touch the rear windshield. There was a high pitched noise coming from the right side tire whenever in motion. The dealer indicated it was improperly sealed.
- the contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The transmission was slipping gears. The contact stated that he had the original transmission replaced at 8000 mile by an authorized dealer, and now was experiencing the same difficulty with the gears slipping down speeds ,and the transmission not engaging. The contact said that this happened often at 45 mph, and the weather has not been a factor. The contact stated that instrument panel lights turned off for a day on 1-3-07, and when the instrument panel lights turned back on the air bag light stayed on. He has had the vehicle fixed three times for the instrument panel lights turning on and off.
I have had numerous of problems with my 2002 Trailblazer. I have had to replace my rear tail light housing 3 times in the last year. I have also had to replace the clutch fan 3 times within 3 months. My hood keeps squeaking and has to be readjusted every other month. My instrument panel has gone out twice. The alarm also works when it wants to and the passenger side seat belt always locks up. On 6/13/03 it left finally left me stranded on the side of the road on the way to California. I live in arizona and was traveling with my wife, mother-in-law and our 3 year old daughter. I had to pay for a rental car and had to submit to gm to reimburse me for the rental car. By reading all the complaints on these 2002 Trailblazers I think we should all get together and do a class act law suit towards gm. E-mail me with your thoughts. Jorgutierr5@aol. Com.
