All of my gauges including fuel gauge, tachometer, and speedometer have stopped working. They will work some days and then others the gauges are all out of whack. It seems to occur especially when it is cold out. I am very frustrated that this is happening. I realize that my vehicle is older, but I do appreciate working gauges!!!.
2003 Trailblazer ltz. I've been having problems with the gauges on the dashboard. Oil gauge went out about a year ago, then the fuel gauge went out about 6 months ago, and now the rpm just went out a few weeks ago. Are there a recall to fix the electrical problem on the dashboard? I was able to look at the odometer and see how many miles I have left until I need to fill up.
Panel cluster failed with red blaring emergency light stays on and causes vehicle lights to stay on. Also causes vehicle not to shift properly. All dashboard component indicator fails which hazardous to safety of individual.
The gauges started failing one at a time. First the oil and battery needles moved to the far right and buried off the chart. Now the speed is reading 90mph at a stop light and 10mph on the interstate. The cluster is gone and the whole driver dashboard is failing. The gas and oil gagues I fear are next. According to dealer they know there is a problem, but they have no problem charging up to $600 to fix the situation. This is mechanical and not caused by the owner. There are blogs all over the place on the same problem.
Stepper motor in my 2003 chevy Trailblazer with approximately 146000 miles went bad. Does not read correct fuel level. Dealer stated that fuel sender unit was working that the whole instrument cluster needed to be replaced. Have seen online that many Trailblazer owners are reporting similiar issues. Was told many other gm vehicles with same instrument clusters have failed and were replaced via recall.
Tl * the contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the instrument cluster malfunctioned while driving 25 mph. The speedometer would not read accurate speeds traveled and the fuele lvel indicator would not read accurate fuel levels. The contact stated that there were numerous complaints found online regarding the instrument cluster failure and stated that the manufacturer should issue a recall. The contact stated the failure was a major safety issue. The failure mileage was 82,000.
I, along with many others are experiencing major problems with the instrument panels on our Chevrolet Trailblazer. My mother traded hers in because her speedometer was going out. But my problem is much worse, my whole entire dashboard is out. My gas gauge doesn't work, my speedometer doesn't work, my oil pressure doesn't work, my thermostat doesn't work, nothing works. My cruise control acts up too.
All electronic gauges within the instrument cluster failed at random times and very frequently, leading to the clusters' current state, which is all gauges are non-operational (dead). Hazardous condition caused due to speedometer failure. Chevy replaced the instrument cluster two times while under 36/36 mfg warranty. Chevy refuses to replace current instrument cluster since 36/36 has passed.
In July 2010 my Trailblazers clutch fan and thermostat went out. I was able to diagnose the problem by the number of complaints filed on this model that were on the internet. Then in October my tachometer started acting up, it broke November 24, 2010. The speedometer broke on December 3, 2010. I have found many complaints on the clutch fan going out and the cluster going out on the internet. Someone at work had a problem with their envoy and it was the thermostat and their clutch fan going out. All at fairly low mileage. I am very disappointed in gm for not wanting to repair these issues so the consumer bears the costs of repair which is about 500 for the clutch fan and thermostat and 400 for the cluster.
My 2003 chevy Trailblazer's speedometer cluster went out it is not gauging with mph. This is a safety hazard because you can't tell what speed you are going I phoned chevy since my warranty is expired this should have been a recall. They won't fix it unless I pay for the repairs.
I own a 2003 chevy Trailblazer LS. Bought it new off the dealer's lot. In 2007, approximately 100,000 miles later the tachometer began to function intermittently. At 120,000 miles, it quit all together. Shortly thereafter, the speedometer began to malfunction intermittently. Now in 2009 and 150,000 miles it does not work 90+% of the time. When it does, the speed indication is unreliable. I have taken the vehicle into the local chevy dealer for diagnostic and repair estimate; $800 to $1000 all day situation. Have taken it to other repair shops, but they refer back to the dealer in order to obtain parts. So far, have been able to operate vehicle, but awaiting the next gauge to fail.
My 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer ext gauge clusters malfunction. One by one the instrument panel gauges have been failing. First the rpm gauge stuck at zero in March '08. About two months ago (oct '08), the oil pressure gauge dropped to zero and now fluctuates erratically . Often times, restarting the car will temporarily reset the oil pressure gauge until it fails again. This month (Dec. '08), the temperature gauge pegged high and the speedometer will temporarily hesitate. The only gauge that appears to work properly is the fuel gauge, and I'm guessing that will eventually fail too. During my last oil change at a chevy dealer, they indicated that most likely the instrument cluster/gauge drivers are bad and can be replaced for about $800. I've done a lot of searching on the internet and found that many people are experiencing this same problem with chevy vehicles, yet Chevrolet has done nothing to correct or remedy the situation.
Speedometer on our 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer started acting erratically--never going down to zero, going up to 80 or above for no reason, etc. --about 2 years ago. In a matter of weeks, after the first onset of the problem, it stopped working altogether and has not moved above zero since. We were told that the whole instrument cluster would have to be replaced to fix the issue with the speedometer. Luckily, all of the other gauges are still functioning properly as of right now but from what I have found in my research of this issue it seems to be only a matter of time before they all will cease to function properly as well. I have seen and read many reports about this problem but I am sure it would be safe to say that there are many more instances that have gone unreported. Please look into this very serious safety issue as soon as possible. It does not seem likely or merely coincidental that so many Trailblazers are experiencing the very same instrument cluster failure.
The motors on the gauge cluster start to fail around 50k miles. Mine is failing right now with 51k miles causing a false reading on the speedometer. After a short time on the road the speedometer starts to lose speed with out lifting off the gas pedal. After a 1/2 hr on the road doing(atleast I think) 65mph it will read that I am doing only 20-30 mph. .
Speed odometer, temperature and oil gauges failed.
