The gas gague on my 2005 chev. Trail blazer always reads empty even if I fill it. It has been faulty for over 2 years. I have on 4 different occasions run out of fule. When contacting a dealership they said it was not covered under warrenty and would be roughly $900 to fix. The vehicle wil read empty all the time causing stalling with no re start.
I had the same issue with my 2005 Chevrolet trailblaizer as document dp10001. I took it to the dealer who installed a new fuel sensor kit, gm part # 19178477.
I have any issues with my fual gauge and dash reading for years now. I thought it was an issue with just my truck but in reading other complaints it seems as there is an issue. I bought my truck new and currently have 178,000 miles on it. I was told bythe dealer that the gas gauge issue would not be covered as it's 10 years or 120,000 which every came first. My dash board has not been working for some time first it was the speedometer and then the oil and other's compentents soon followed.
Gas hand don't work, told need a fuel sensor for 2005 chevy Trailblazer ext.
Fuel light continues to remain on empty even after I fill up.
My 2005 chevy Trailblazer gas gauge no longer works. I see many other people are having the same problem and brought their vehicle to the dealer only to have paid $900. 00 to have the fuel sensor gauge replaced.
I am having the same problem with my 2005 tb(fuel level sensor replaced) and the dealership advised me it would cost 900. 00 to fix. I called the gm warranty line in detroit and was told to take it back to the dealership and pay another diagnostic fee and have them send the paperwork to them. They said they could not promise anything but at least there would be a record of me trying to get the problem fixed. I say recall the vehicles and fix the problem for everyone since this is a known problem.
The fuel gage stopped working on the freeway and I was almost killed during rush hour traffic because my car would not accelerate!.
My gas gauge had begun acting up. It would say empty even when filled. I would fill it up and the gauge would go to half then back up to full. I did not know for sure how much gas was in the vehicle. I was driving and the car stalled out because it ran out of gas even tho the gauge said full and I was rear ended.
Fuel sensor inaccurate in 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer; occurs constantly, it is never correct, must use odometer reset. Nothing has been done to correct it because my dealer advised that they have repaired several in the last 6 months. It is an expensive repair.
Gas gauge sensor defective in my 2005 chevy Trailblazer. Has been replaced twice. Safety issue; I have personally ran out of gas because of this. Replaced once while under warranty, replaced again 6/28 out of pocket cost because warranty no longer valid. After researching online and talking to other Trailblazer owners, this problem is pretty common and believed to be a defect with the vehicle.
I just got my 2005 Trailblazer 2 week ago and the car lot fail to inform us that the gas gauge was broken,, I was on my way home witch was over an hour away and my car ran out of gas, I had my 4 year old son with me and we had to walk in 90 degree weather to get gas,, and my son got a sun burn on his face and arms, I believe that if my gas gauge was working then I would have never been stranded along side of the road with my son.
My gas gauge is defective. I ran out of gas on interstate 17 because the guage inside the vehicel read 1/2 full when the vehicle was out of gas.
My gas gauge stop working in my 2005 Trailblazer, gas light comes on even when filling up.
Fuel level reads incorrect as well as oil level. Was told by mechanic that the fuel sensor and oil sensor is defective. This could cause accidents to improper readings and cars stalling.
Gas guage suddenly stopped working. Filled car, gas light came on and guage dropped to e. Began floating between full and half full, then back to e. A few days later, back to working it seemed. Then, driving down highway about 65 miles per hour, car suddenly shuts down, no power, barely got off road without being rear ended. Sat with no heat in freezing weather waiting for help, barely off the side of highway.
Fuel level sensor failed twice on 2005 chevy Trailblazer.
I purchased this truck brand new off the lot in may 2005. A few years after purchase the gas gauge stopped working, I attempted to search the web for recalls and there weren't any. Eventually it started working again on its own. So I didnt think anything else about it. Around 2009, or maybe later, it happened again. I then found out there was a way to get it replaced for free but it had stipulations. Less than 10 years old and under 100k miles. Well at the time it was 108k-115k miles and I was denied. I must admit I love my vehicle but to this day I have been fighting to get the pump replaced without having to pay for it as it was the companies fault. I calculate my miles based off the "trip" indicator on the dash. I know it seems silly, I mean it would be much easier to just invest, I'm a bit stubborn. So instead, when the thousands of people I know mention buying a car I just tell them dont buy a chevy, even if they have amazing cars. Truth be told not one family member has a chevy because of my incident and any new family members well they aren't allowed to have chevy either. Thanks for listening, I'm sure it wont matter, either way but these blogs and complaint forums make me feel better. (my car was in motion when it stopped working, travelling from one state to another, on a major highway).
I was driving to town on I-10 when I ran out of gas and was almost rear ended by a semi. My gas gauge didn't register empty. I took my 2005 chevy Trailblazer to gateway Chevrolet and was told it was the fuel level sensor and would cost me $525. 00 to replace. I now personally know of 3 other chevys to have the same problem, 2 Trailblazers and 1 envoy. This is a dangerous situation and from all the complaints I'm seeing, I'm far from being one of few this is happening to. From the questions I see below I wonder if people have to be killed or harmed before anyone takes a look at this problem?.
Recently, the gas gauge in my vehicle has stopped working correctly. It no longer accurately reports how much fuel I have. In researching the issue, I have discovered that this is a very common problem with this type of vehicle (2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer). Although nothing has happened to me personally, I have read of instances where the car ran out of gas while on the highway because the driver assumed that gas gauge was working correctly. This is a potential safety issue. With it occurring so frequently, there are obviously defective parts being used. It seems to occur most often in 2005 - 2006 vehicles based on the gmt360/370 platform (chev. Trailblazer, GMC envoy, etc). If needed, I can provide a link to several sites where people are reporting this problem. Or, a quick search on google. Com for "2005 Trailblazer gas gauge problems" will provide a list.
Non-functioning fuel guage.
Recently, the gas gauge on my 2005 chevy Trailblazer quit working. I filled up, and the gauge set at empty until I had drive 10-15 miles. Until then, the empty light would stay on and the "miles left" shows none which renders that alernate solution unusable. The only thing that works close enough to let me determine if I need to fill up again is the "trip a" feature. I can guess how many miles I normally go before a fill up. . But who's to say that is working right either? the improper functioning of this element of my vehicle is not only a pain in the backside, but also could be detrimental to the safety of myself and my child if the car were to run out of gas while traveling down the highway. I have found forums recently wherein many customers of gm are having the same difficulty with the same make and model. We are all frustrated to say the least. I have heard there were recalls for this issue prior to 2004 - seems gm didn't get it right after that time. How about a recall now?.
In the beginning the speedometer would go all the way to highest speed immediately upon cranking vehicle. After a few months or quit working all together. The the gas gage quit working a few months after that. Then again a few months later all other gages quit working except rpm gage. That is only functioning gage on instrument panel.
My 2005 chevy Trailblazer has suddenly stopped tracking the fuel amount, it has caused me to not know the amount of gas in the vehicle, I have also done research on the issue and many Trailblazer owners have the same issue. To have my vehicle suddenly stop is inconvenient and dangerous, especially when I am traveling on the interstate.
My trail blazer check engine light stays on we cannot reset it. The full gage says it has more gas then what it does, I have to guess to avoid running our of gas. Speedomiter stops working then it fixes its self. The radio and lights sometimes stay on, and kills my battery.
The fuel guage stopped working in my vehichle and by the time the recall occurred in 2013, my vehichle has more than the limited mileage of 120,000 or less to pay for ha;f the repair cost. The speedometer failed to work at all back in 2009 as well.
Fuel reading is always on empty even after I fill up. I can easily run out of gas with out even knowing.
Started the car one day and the gas gauge showed empty, have been keeping track of the mileage ever since. Still waiting for gm to take care of the problem (recall). You would think a car which is only a few years old and low mileage shouldn't be having expensive problems, which is left up to the owner to pay.
Gas gauge doesn't read correctly. When I fill up the gas gauge it will stay on empty and the light will stay on. After driving for a day or so the gas gauge will fluctuate from empty to full numerous times. I keep track of my miles to know when to fill up and never know how much gas I have. There are numerous complaints similar to my problem. . Read more...
2005 Trailblazer fuel sensor unit. I received a call from mr. Turner, from the executive office at general motors, detroit michigan, concerning the many letters I have sent to general motors. ¿in a nutshell he said gm has not received any complaints about the fuel sensor unit and basically I was not being truthful concerning the unit I referred, him to this particular web site and his comment was if complaints was not coming from the customers or dealer, the comments was basic useless he suggested, that I take my vehicle to the Chevrolet dealer, at that point they would determine the problem and maybe they might do something in other words, you are out of luck. I would suggest that everyone bombard the president / ceo of general motors with complaint letters concerning the fuel sensor or contact mr. Turner at the number he gave me [xxx]. Our gas gauge quit working on our 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. We had warranty on the SUV but it failed just out of warranty. The estimated cost to fix it was not in our budget. We have to track our mileage after each fill-up. My son ran out of gas one time as a result of the bad gauge.
Gas gauge on my 2005 chevy Trailblazer is defective. It stopped working at 55000 miles and the chevy dealership wants over $600 to replace. I've been reading up on this and have found that this is happening all over to a lot of owners. I have no way to know how much fuel I have and have ran out on the interstate in the middle of winter 4 miles from nearest town with little cell phone coverage. Only way I can guestimate when to put fuel in is by going by the trip odometer. I commute over 400 miles weekly on the interstate but can't afford a $600 repair bill for something I feel should be recalled.
Replace faulty fuel level sensor.
Gas gauge inop/unreliable.
The vehicle has an idle issue and cuts off once you turn the ac on. I have spent a lot of money over time and I read I'm not the only one with that issue.
