Power Window problems of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Eight problems related to power window have been reported for the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2014

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the windows failed to open. In addition, the contact stated that when attempting to open the front passenger's side window, the window independently opened and closed. The failure occurred on four occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the master power switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

2 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2013

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving various speeds, the front driver side power door lock and window failed to activate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on numerous occasions. The vehicle was repaired, but the cause of the failure was unknown. The failure recurred after the repair was performed. The vehicle was not repaired for the most recent failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 91,000.

3 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2013

The controls in the front doors for the windows stopped working. There was a slightly burnt smell when I got in the car that day. Now there is a clicking sound in my drivers door that happens about every 35-45 seconds even when the vehicle is turned off. When this clicking sound occurs while the vehicle is running my engine loses power. This is also killing my battery every night because it is occurring even with the vehicle turned off with no keys in the ignition. I am afraid it is going to start a fire in my door. There is already a recall for the 2006 and 2007 for this exact same issue. 2005 needs to be added to the list before someone gets hurt.

4 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

Lowered the driver's power window & it didn't go back up. Opened & closed door & tried button a few more times, then it went up. Unsure of burn smell as I was on highway. Checked again while stationary & window button non functional. Noted that interior dome light did not light when door opened & all power buttons in driver's door (windows, locks, mirrors) rendered non-functional. Also noted that this door does not respond to remote keyfob for lock/unlock, and door by-passes alarm system. Alarm can be set, door opened with key and alarm will only trigger when key is put into ignition, but unarms when ignition cranks. It should also be noted that the driver's door is the only door that has a key lock mechanism. The rest of the vehicle relies on remote or door switches. Approximately one year later I opened the door (as I could not put the window down) and the interior dome light lit, so I tried the power lock button and it worked. Twice. The entire door again went dead/non-responsive. Without window access, the door must be opened on highways with toll booths. The lack of interior light, inability to readily access the door locks, and the alarm by-pass creates a security issue. The inability to adjust the mirrors creates a safety issue, as the window cannot be lowered. The driver's door no longer locks when the vehicle is put into drive. The scariest thing is that the controls simply stopped. Why? a short in the system is a very logical possibility, especially with the random functioning just a year later. I have noted multiple issues on repair sites referencing this problem with 2005 Trailblazers, and as of today (6/15/13) saw a recall for a short in the door for 2006/7 Trailblazers. If the same issue is occurring with other years, wouldn't it follow that it was a flaw that should be reviewed in all Trailblazers of the same body styling?.

5 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2012

I have the same issue as the 2006, 2007 Trailblazer recall of August 2012. The door module shorted out.

6 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

While driving the, window switch began to smoke so I physically removed the switch and have since not had power window access on the passenger side front door. The cost to replace was too great and at the bottom of the priority list. More recently, maybe 2 months ago, the driver side switch showed signs of the same results after a smell of burning electronics and heat to the touch so I simply unplugged the switch all together. The cost to replace these switches is quite significant and have not had any luck with Chevrolet in the past with complaints so I figured I would wait until I had a little extra money to replace these switches. On the news today I heard the end of a report and only caught the words gm and window switches so I came home and searched and came across so articles involving 2006 models. That is how I came across this website. I would very much hate to find out that the company does not know the problem exists further than 2006. An unrelated problem I encountered with the vehicle, which was quite unnerving, was that the third brake light assembly came off while driving on a local highway at @ 65 mph approximately 2 years ago. The fixture became un attached from the passenger side and was "flapping" off the driver's side. Only for a matter of time, I'm sure. Luckily our family was being followed by another family and they notified us by cell phone and we were able to remove the fixture without incident on the shoulder. It would have caused serious problems without doubt had it come completely off. When we notified the dealership, they told us we were out of our warranty and were on our own. Thank you for taking the time to try to make our highways safer!.

7 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2008

Front passenger window stuck in down position. Would not roll up.

8 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2006

Our new SUV (gsa vehicle) has a windshield that slopes at to steep of an angle. The rearview mirror is stuck on the glass almost in the middle of the windshield severely compromising my forward to right side visibility. What were the engineers thinking? also, the vehicle lacks power window safety switches that could choke a child if they stood on them with their head out the window. I thought these switches were outlawed years ago?.
