59 problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The gas sensor in my gas tank is faulty. Chevrolet admitted to this by offering a partial coverage on the repair but now that program has ended. I️ am forced to pay for this repair in its entirety to the tune of $1,000. Chevy has acknowledged the problem and expired the program to help cover the cost to replace their defective part. ?.
Vehicle was serviced for a faulty fuel level float sensor, which was registering that there was no fuel in the gas tank when the tank was full. 7 days later, while driving on a busy freeway, all of the gauges on the gauge cluster started spinning out of control and the vehicle lost complete power while driving 65 mph. I had to merege across 4 lanes on the freeway in heavy traffic and nearly got run over. No power to the engine at all - it just died while I was driving. Of course, onstar and the Chevrolet dealer that performed all of the service on the vehicle were no help. While waiting for onstar, my vehicle was towed off the freeway.
Window switch recall taillight short melted wires harness engine light indicator stays on road grip tires light comes on will stay on for days power steering is using fluid and now fuel tank will not take more than 5 gallons at a time and sprays gas back if tank is full fuel level indicator want register stay below empty and windshield leaks down into dash.
I filled up my tank yesterday. One hour later, started the car and the fuel guage read zero, with low fuel indicator on. Now it's intermittent, never going above 3/4 full. I have printed out the NHTSA's investigations number dp 10-001and pe 11-014. I have heard that gm is willing to fix the problem for 1/2 price. What is 1/2 price? 1/2 of what? what do I need to do next?.
Fuel gauge sensor is defective, cannot determine how much fuel is in the tank, vehicle stalled and ran out of gas when the gauge showed gas in the tank.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While powering up the vehicle, the fuel gauge lights illuminated and a beeping noise activated indicating low fuel. The contact had just refueled and the tank was filled to capacity. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,000.
My 2006 chevy Trailblazer fuel gauge indicator went out. When you fill up the tank the gas gauge remains at empty. Now I have no idea how much gas is in the tank. This is a public safety matter. I cannot and should not be expected to know how much gas I have in my car without a properly working gas gauge. If my car runs out of fuel and an accident occurs it would be totally avoidable. It is clear that there have been several hundred complaints regarding this issue and the ntsb opened an investigation into this matter but failed to act. I would be ok with paying to fix this issue if it was a rare occurrence but clearly there have been complaints and gm and ntsb are aware. Ntsb would be complicit if an accident occurs because they did nothing to protect the individuals on the road. If the ntsb cannot make gm recall the vehicles for this safety problem than I am not sure what the ntsb does and I would advocate not funding this entity. Please act on this matter and make gm recall and replace this faulty part before someone dies.
On Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at approximately 11:30 a. M. While my husband and I were driving on the west side of the standing rock sioux reservation my 2006 Trailblazer ext caught on fire. We both smelled smoke, parked (didn't turn off the ignition) and flames began to shoot out from underneath the front driver's side of the vehicle. We got out and ran to the west side of the roadway as the fire engulfed the entire front motor area. My purse was still in the burning vehicle and I told my husband he ran back to the burning vehicle to retrieve it. He sustained burns to his hands, face, legs and feet. In addition he received smoke inhalation to a degree of a "black out" stage. We witnessed the tires burn up one after another, beginning with the front driver's side, then the passenger side, the rear driver's and the passenger's side - at this point we moved further away from the burning vehicle as we expected the car to explode once it reached the gas tank area, but somehow the gas tank didn't explode. In fact, the spare tire which sits underneath the gas tank received a slight singe and did not burn (along with the gas tank). The only warning we had was the "smell of smoke" - the Trailblazer's dash warning light did not appear to indicate anything was wrong. In addition, on or about October 25, 2014, another Trailblazer (same area) also burnt up (as reported by bureau of land management).
After putting fuel in my tank, I started to pull out of the gas station and noticed my check engine light came on and my fuel gauge was bouncing back and forth between empty and full. This went on for the entire day as I was running errands. Then the gauge dropped to empty and stayed there as well as my check engine light staying on. The next day the gauge stayed at empty and my check engine light was still on. I stopped by my mechanic to have them check and see what was going on and explained to them what had happened the day before. They check the code and found that it was the fuel sensor and right after they checked the code the check engine light went out and the fuel gauge went to full. They told me to keep an eye on it and let them know if it happened again that they would have to replace it. I closely watched the fuel gauge and noticed that my fuel gauge was not moving even after driving over 100 miles it was still showing full. At this time I started logging the mileage each week I filled my tank as I was concerned that I would run out of fuel because the fuel gauge was not registering correctly. This continued every week for months. Then the check engine light and the fuel gauge started doing this more often during the week. So I brought it back to my mechanic and had the fuel sensor replaced. Since then with all the recalls that have been happening I decided to see if my vehicle was part of any of the recalls that were going on and noticed the complaints on the fuel sensor. I saw that there may be a chance that I could get reimbursed for 50 percent of the repair work that I had to have done as they were not doing a full recall on this issue. If there is a chance for reimbursement I would like to know what my next step is to start the process.
I was on a trip when I had stopped to fuel up my tank because it wad close to empty so once I fueled it up to full and turned my car back on for a second it showed full tank then just drolled to empty and after fee minutes went back to full. Couple days later the gauge just started going crazy and showing all kinds of levels of the fuel tank. Now it only stays on empty with the yellow light on. But before this alll happened my oil pressure sensor stopped working. Its frustraiting and ive been left without gas on middle of road a few times.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that he took the vehicle to the dealer for an unrelated repair when the mechanic stated that the fuel tank was fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.
Gas gauge is not working properly. I can fill the tank and it will say that my fuel level is low, 2 blocks later it will say I can drive 240 miles and the needle will also go up, 4 blocks later they are both back down to only 64 miles for example, then back up again and then it will ding an alarm and say fuel level low. I have no idea how much gas I have in my tank ever. This is not safe for my son and I to be driving around not knowing when the gauges are working. What if we are out of town or on a country road or a bad area of town? please recall the sending unit so we can all get this problem fixed. There are many complaints about this faulty part. Please do the right thing and fix it. I do not have $500 to spend on my vehicle.
After starting the car, I watched the half tank fuel gauge drop to empty. I went to fill up the tank and it didn't take but about a half a tank. The gauge still show empty and warning low fuel was on. Soon the engine light came on after driving a short distance. The fuel gauge continues to show empty. . The tank is full.
Just filled gas tank at service station. When restarting the engine the fuel gauge read empty and hasn't changed.
My 2006 chevy trailbalzer has been having difficulties with the fuel gage. No matter how much gas I put in the gage shoots to over full, then within a day goes to empty and warning light goes on. I called my dealership as my car's warranty expired 6 months ago, and was told it was problem the gas tank unit or sender and that it could cost up to $1000 to fix. After doing some research I come across several other complaints to this same effect and gm is only willing to pay for 50% of the repair costs. My vehicle only has 43,000 miles and is in perfect condition with regular maintenance. There shoudl be a recall on this item ad gm should be responsible for full payment of repairs.
Fill the car up and the guage still show empty and the light was on, when I pulled in to the gas station the low fuel light wasnt on and I had a 8th of a tank but when I filled it up it didn regester nand the light was on I drove around for couple of days and put $40. 00 in and the light was on and guage show empty . To me this is a safty issue if I ran out of gas and someone runs into me I should not pay 50% chevy should pay for it to replace it.
My Trailblazer is also having problems with the gas gauge. My husband actually ran out of gas and had to walk to the station buy a gas can and walk back to fill it. We can no longer reset the trip miles as this is the only way to tell accurately how much farther you can drive on a tank of gas. I have a 2006 chevy traulblazer.
My fuel gauge on my 2006 chevy Trailblazer just stopped working. One day was good with half a tank and the next day I went to turn it on, the fuel gauge read empty. Now the fuel gauge at times tells me I have full tank then empty then half a tank etc.
Fuel system sending unit appears to have failed. Fuel gauge swings erratically, and has no relation to the actual fuel level in the tank. Check engine light came on due to signal from faulty fuel sending unit. As a result, vehicle ran out of fuel on the highway during rush-hour. Upon investigation, it appears that there has been a previous investigation by the NHTSA that has been closed. Chevrolet has agreed to pay for 1/2 of the cost of repair. Unacceptable. I request that you reopen your investigation, and make Chevrolet take responsibility for this issue. This is a definite safety issue, as running out of fuel on a busy highway can be a potentially life-threatening event. I never received any notification that this was an issue, although some owners are claiming to have received a letter from gm.
I start the car and the gas gauge shows that I have a full tank of gas, as I start driving the gauge will suddenly go to the empty line and start dinging that I have no fuel. Once it showed that I had a half a tank of gas, but then I suddenly ran out. I was stuck on the side of the road with my two children until help arrived. This gauge problem has happened daily since day one. I am now relying on my trip meter to know how much gas I have. I like this vehicle but if this continues with no help from chevy/ gm I will be forced to trade this car in!.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving approximately 30 mph, the low fuel warning light began to illuminate however, the contact stated that the fuel tank was full. The vehicle was taken to two different independent auto mechanics who both stated that the fuel gauge was defective. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.
My wife was going approximately 60 mph on the highway. The fuel gauge read that the tank had a little over a 1/2 of a tank left. The vehicle stalled and she almost crashed into the ditch. When she started the vehicle back up the tank read empty. My wife and kids had to wait by the side of the road in over 100 degree weather for over an hour until I was able to get away from work and take her fuel. We went directly to the gas station and put in $50 of fuel and the gauge still read empty. We have continued to put in fuel and the needle moves back and forth and always settles back on empty and the no fuel light always come on. I have no idea how much fuel there really is at this point. I am afraid to let my wife drive the vehicle any longer. This could have been a real bad situation. If my wife hadn't been able to control the vehicle and they would've crashed on the highway they could all be dead right now. I have read on other pages that this is a continuing problem and that chevy does not want to pay for the repair. I guess they won't until people start dying from this. I will never again buy a chevy vehicle.
Most recent is a driver's side door/window controls that have completely stopped working. Controls have been sporatic for over a month and have now stopped completely with the window in the down position. I have been lucky not to experience the burning/melting issue others have before it stopped working all together - but my window is now in the down position and cannot be closed. In addition to the door/window controls, the rear window wiper stopped working about a year ago, the fuel sensor went out over a year and a half ago so tank always registers empty and check engine light is always on. (I have received the offer from chevy to have the fuel sensor repaired, but because I will be responsible for half of the repair costs, I have yet to have it done -- chevy should pay 100%, not 50%). I've already replaced the tie rods about a year ago, but was just told that they need to be replaced again. I've had issues with the car violently shaking @ 60 mph shortly after I bought it (used) from a dealer. After quite the run around and four extended stays at the dealers repair shop it was magically taken care of after I threatened to file "lemon law" paperwork. I'm just done.
Recently, I filled my gas tank & low fuel light warning displayed and low fuel light came on. Since then the check engine light is on steady (not blinking) most of the time. The fuel gauge floats back and forth never really letting you know it's true status. The dealers and public know about this issue- yet chevy refuses to take responsibility and fix the product. It is frustrating & nerve wracking to never know how much fuel you have at any given time, as well as the constant warning lights/ chimes during driving. This is the second serious issue I have had with this vehicle- just a month before had to repair safety issue of stabilitrak turning on at random, after twice it slowed my vehicle- without warning- on the thruway from 55 mph to about 20 mph. I had documentation of 4 trips to dealer for this concern within the first year of ownership but "the computer doesn't show a problem" so 5 years later I finally had the code show up after a close call almost accident. This concern is all over the internet as well & even with contacting Chevrolet & the nys attorney general they still only covered half the cost of the repair. Chevrolet needs to take responsibility for the safety of their products and obviously will not unless recalls are mandated- I urge you to do just that. Thank you.
Check engine light come one code p0461 - fuel tank pressure sensor circuit high voltage. This problem seems to be a common problem with the chevy Trailblazers and should be a recallable issue. Furthermore, the suspension on this vehicle has been a financial drain from the sway bar links, front end links stabilizer shaft and ball joints.
Gas gauge stop measuring how much gas was in the tank back in 2012. Have had to use the odometer and just keep up with my mileage. Could not afford to pay to replace the fuel gauge.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the fuel gauge displayed an empty reading even though fuel was present in the fuel tank. The contact received a notice from the manufacturer stating that they were aware of the failure. The manufacturer also stated that the fuel sensor needed to be replaced before it completely failed. The contact also stated that this failure could lead to additional failures. The manufacturer offered to pay for half of the repair costs. The failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 62,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the fuel level gauge would display a reading of empty after refueling. The contact stated that the fuel tank could be full but the low fuel warning light would remain illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or mechanic for diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 47000. The VIN was unavailable.
Slowing for a stop sign. Engine stopped. Fuel guage showed 1/4 tank. Fuel guage inaccurate. Had it changed ($450. 00), sending unit in fuelpump. July 1,2012. Same thing. Repairs were less by $175. 00 because the shop I deal with (I am a good customer) felt I needed a break, and did not charge to replace it the second time. When we picked the vehicle up the ac / vent does not open for the dash ports. All other ports, ie floor, defrost, work somewhat. This mornig the whole blower quit. I went out this afternoon and the blower again blows, but not the dash vents. . . . Argggggggg is there any solution?.
Three weeks ago, after our 2006 chevy Trailblazer ext was filled up, the gas gauge went to empty and then went back and forth before finally going towards full. However, we are not sure if it is accurate at any point. This occurs every time we fill the tank up in the truck. We have not had it fixed, but an estimated cost has been $800 to fix the sending unit and drop the tank to fix.
Gas gauge fluctuates, filled gas tank, moments later it went down to empty (warning light and sound went off). This has happened for the past week. Prior to this the check engine would sporadically go off and on, probably an early indicator that there was a problem with the fuel gauge. Problem has caused my family to be stranded on the freeway at night while I am at work and I have to go help them this is a big safety issue. Gm only wants to pay for part of the repair, which is not right as the issue is wide spread and is a safety issue.
Filled up gas tank on 2006 chevy Trailblazer---low fuel ind. Light came on after fill-up---fuel gauge no longer reads--shows empty.
My fuel gauge quit registering how much fuel I have in my tank, and as a result I have to stop and fill my tank more often than needed so that I dont run out of gas (which has happened). I also received a letter from the mfg that they are aware of the issue, however because it is not safety concern they would only cover 50% of the cost to fix the issue. Last time I checked running out of fuel is a saftey issue, not just to the person driving the vehicle but to others that may be driving behind said vehicle that runs out of fuel. I have not fixed this issue as I dont feel like I should have too, I feel that gm should pay to have these issues fixed.
I have a 2006 chevy Trailblazer. It only has 34,000 miles on it. Tonight after I filled the gas tank, the warning light came on saying there was no fuel. After searching the internet, I have found that alot of people are having the same problem and it costs about $800 to get it fixed. I cannot afford $800 to fix something that shouldn't be a problem in the first place. I love my Trailblazer, but right now, I'm afraid to drive it. Please make chevy fix this problem.
My vehicle fuel gauge was moving from empty to full sporadically. Finally my fuel gauge indicated that I had an empty tank; this is after I have completely filled my tank. I took my vehicle into the dealership and was informed that the fuel sensor went bad and it will need to be replaced. I have not had the vehicle repaired because it will cost nearly $900. 00.
