Eight problems related to tank mounting have been reported for the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The fuel gauge on my 2007 chevy Trailblazer began fluctuating from proper fuel level reading to empty at around 74,000 miles. After few weeks of this, the fuel gauge now consistently reads empty after driving 115 - 120 miles on a full tank, which indicates a failure of the fuel sensing unit. I am driving the vehicle based on the trip odometer and I have run out of gas twice since this is not a reliable way to estimate the amount of fuel in the tank. Both times I was on my way to work a on heavily traveled bridge with no shoulder. This is a huge safety hazard!!! also at around 75,000 miles the driver side door lock stopped working and the electronic stability control off light and electronic stability control maintenance light periodically turn on.
First indication of the problem was erratic level readings on the fuel gauge as well as engine problem indicator illuminated. Now the fuel gauge indicates empty at all times even when the tank is full, engine light stays on. These faults are very disconcerting as well as being dangerous. What if a legitimate engine problem develops? what if we mis-calculate the amount of fuel that is in the tank and we are on some highway in rush hour traffic or somewhere late at night? in my opinion,Chevrolet should take care of this defect, the consumer should not have to pay one (1) dollar for a faulty part. I can honestly say that this will be the last Chevrolet that I will ever own if they do not do the right thing. I work with a lot of auto enthusiasts and I have told some of them about this vehicles' issues, they are not impressed.
Fuel gauge in 2007 chevy Trailblazer began fluctuating from proper fuel level reading to empty at around 50,000 miles. After about 2 weeks of this, fuel gauge failed altogether and now consistently reads empty regardless of fuel level in tank, which indicates a failure of the fuel sensing unit. Received a letter from gm stating 1/2 of repair costs would be covered by manufacturer, however due to the fact this problem appears so common and widespread, it is apparent the NHTSA needs to issue a recall on this problem. We are driving the vehicle based on the trip odometer and my husband has run out of gas twice as this is not a reliable way to estimate the amount of fuel in the tank. Both times he was on his way to work and on heavily traveled roads. This in itself created a safety hazard.
My car quit reading out how much fuel I had. I had to write down on a piece of paper the miles on the car when I filled it up in order to keep track of when to put gas in again. With my husband being disabled this was not good. I took it to my dealership and they wanted closed to $100. 00 just to tell what exactly was the problem then if it was what they thought it was it would be approximately another $600. 00 to fix it. I took it to a reputable repair place it cost $0. 00 to tell me the problem and it cost me $418. 80 to fix it. The problem was the fuel sensor was not registering the amount of gas I had. They had to take the gas tank apart and replace that plus the fuel pump (as now these 2 items are built into 1).
Fuel gauge does not register the correct amount of fuel in the gas tank.
Fuel gauge failure on my 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Filling the fuel tank turns the low fuel notification light and chime off for about 50 miles, then the gauge goes to "e" and the fuel warning light and chime sounds until the tank is filled again and the process repeats itself. I currently use my trip odometer to monitor the fuel level but my husband has forgotten to reset the trip odometer and ran out of fuel. This is a potentially serious malfunction that should be remedied by the manufacturer. Running out of fuel in the middle of a 60 mph freeway is quite dangerous and maybe more so than running out of fuel on a mountain pass, where it could be miles and hours before help arrives. Chevrolet's "wear & tear" excuse is nonsence for a poorly made part. I had the problem diagnosed at a dealership and Chevrolet said it is not covered under my warranty and the dealership would charge me in excess of $1000 to fix the problem!.
I own a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The fuel gauge indicator remains illuminated no matter how much fuel is in the tank. As a result, my wife and I are never fully aware of the amount of gasoline left in the fuel tank. I believe it to be a defect as so many other people online is experiencing the same issues.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the fuel gauge did not indicate the accurate amount of fuel in the tank. The engine shut off several times because the gauge did not show that the fuel tank was empty. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop where the fuel sending unit was replaced. The current mileage was 82,169. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
