87 problems related to tank assembly have been reported for the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the fuel sensor gauge indicated that the fuel tank was half full when the vehicle shut off because the fuel tank was empty. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the fuel gauge sensor was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also indicated that the tire air sensor indicated that air in the front drivers side tire was low but after inspecting the vehicle the contact discovered that air in the rear drivers side tire was low. The failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 80,000.
I was leaving work headed home, and my gas gauge read 1/2 a tank of gas. As I was going up a hill my truck slowly comes to a complete stop. This was a very dangerous place to be in 5pm traffic. Luckily no one was hurt. 11.
As I was driving home from work I was traveling about 45 mph on 2 lane state route. My fuel low indicator light came on and car shut off immediately. Luckily I was able to get to side of road and get hazard lights turned on before an accident could occur. After filling tank everything seemed normal. Then about 3 months later again the low fuel indicator light comes on and car shuts off immediately. Again I was able to avoid an accident by getting car to side of road and using hazard lights. After this incident we filled the tank and the low fuel indicator stayed lit, then went off, fuel gauge showed full, then 1/2, then 3/4, then low fuel light back on (all this happened in the 12 miles to get home). Now the low fuel light stays on and the only way to know how much fuel is to refuel every few hundred miles and that is wrong.
I have a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. After filling the gas tank, the fuel gauge reads "full". As I drive, it steadily drops to about 2/3 full, then it suddenly drops to "empty". As I continue to drive, the gauge begins to rise, and after a few seconds was back to "empty". This repeats now after every fill. As I search the internet, I find that this is a very common Chevrolet Trailblazer problem. Has it become a recall?.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving approximately 20 mph, the contact noticed the fuel gauge displayed an inaccurate reading which indicated the fuel tank was empty. The fuel tank consumed half the fuel level capacity when the malfunction occurred. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the fuel lever sensor was replaced. The contact was responsible for fifty percent of the repair cost due to the manufacturer's extended warranty. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 28,019.
Fuel gauge inaccurately reads empty when tank has been filled. Fuel gauge will jump from empty, to 3/4 tank, to 1/2 full to 1/4 tank and back to empty with fuel light and audio warning within less than 5 minutes. When this happens check engine light comes on.
Fuel gauge sending unit has failed. The fuel gauge no longer reads accurately. It will show empty with the check engine light on while the tank in full, also masking an actual check engine problem. It also shows full fuel when the tank is less than half full.
The fuel gauge in my 2007 chevy Trailblazer continuosly drops to empty shortly after starting my car, despite having a full tank. This happens every time I drive my car no matter how much gas is in the tank.
The first time the tank read empty was on November 23, 2011 when there was about 1/4 a tank of gas in the vehicle. The gauge went back and forth between empty and just over making the light and noise come on. Today November 27, 2011 it came on after fueling a little over 9 gallons of gas in the vehicle. I pulled over to the side of the road to see if turning the car off an restarting the vehicle would reset it, it didn't work. We continued on with the light on and did what we needed to do. We went to the gas station and filled the tank the rest of the way and it still showed empty with the light coming on.
The first time I noticed there was a problem with the fuel guage sensor in my '07 Trailblazer, I had about 1/3 of a tank of gas when I parked and turned the engine off to go into a store. When I started the engine again, the fuel guage went to empty and the low-fuel light came on. I went to fill the tank and only needed about 11 gallons, which is when I confirmed the guage was wrong. The guage continued to show empty and has ever since. I am now doing my best to keep track of fuel by estimating usage based on the miles driven after each fill-up. I've been reading up on the recall and I'm outraged that gm is still only offering to pay for half of the repair costs if done at a dealer, which, by the way is why I haven't had this repair done yet. I've read in some cases there have been estimated costs between $700 and $1200. So if gm is only going to pay half of the cost, I'm looking at potentially $600 or so to repair something that gm has admitted is a problem. I cannot afford this repair, and I hope that I am able to keep track of my gas based on mileage so I never run out of gas, especially with my two young children in the vehicle. I also don't believe I or any other vehicle owner should have to pay for something that has been recalled by the manfacturer. Gm should accept responsibility if they want to keep their loyal customers happy and keep them coming back. Is there any help out there for people in my situation? I know the recall was issued, I know gm has only offered to pay half of the cost, but what about people who cannot afford this additional expense? I know there are many.
Approximately a month ago my low fuel indicator light came on and my fuel gauge reflected empty despite filling up my gas tank just hours earlier. Since that time this has kept happening and seems to always indicate an empty tank despite the fact that it is incorrect. Evidentely this issue is very common with my vehicle and I feel that it needs to be documented. This is a huge safety concern due to the fact that I am never sure exactly how much fuel that I have in my vehicle. After calling the dealership I was told that this is an approximate $400 total repair. Gm stated that they will pay for 1/2, however this is still a large out of pocket expense. They also stated that I will only get the 1/2 off as long as I bring my vehicle to the dealership. Gm should have issued a 100% total recall on this component since its so widespread. I have no alternative but to pay for this repair at their dealership.
The gas gauge was showing that the tank was empty although it had been filled less than 100 miles earlier. When I filled the tank right after the light went on - I was only able to put 8 gallons of gas in it. The gauge then would move from empty with the warning light coming on to half full and back down during the trip immediately following the fill up. Once the vehicle was started the following morning, the gauge went to full but shortly after went back to empty. Now it continues to read inconsistently every trip moving back and forth between full and empty and other times remaining on empty with the warning light on for an entire trip.
I had started my truck to let it warm up, after coming back out I noticed the gas gauge was incorrect, I turned off the truck and started it again and watched the gauge go from 3/4 of a tank to 1/2. I took it to see if the battery or alternator was bad, the battery tested bad, so I replaced it. The truck was working fine, until 2/26/12, after driving about 30 miles I noticed the gauge had gone from 3/4 to 1/2. While sitting at a light I watched it then go from 1/2 to 1/4 of a tank. I drove to get gas and it only took $21. 00 to fill it. After reading all of the complaints on this problem, I do not understand how there has not been a recall on this product, and why the manufacturer is only willing to pay for half of the repair. I paid alot of money for this product and do not feel that the company is looking out for us. I feel that Chevrolet needs to make this problem a recall and make it right with all the people that have stood by them.
I would like to add my complaints about the 2007 chevy Trailblazer fuel sensor issues. The gas guage when I bought the vehicle at about 55,000 miles worked but not acurately over the last few months the sensor has stopped working all together and constantly shows an empty tank. I generally by gas twic a week to limit the possiblily of running out and was actually on my way to the gas station when the vehicle ran out of gas while I was on a highway. To me that is a danger to myself and other drivers and the more that I have researched the issue I see that it appears to be a common one that I would feel the NHTSA would be justified in issuing a recall notice for. Thanks.
I received a letter advising me of the possibility of the fuel sensor in my 2007 chevy Trailblazer malfunctioning. About one week prior to receiving the notice, the fuel gauge began falling to empty and the low fuel warning sounding, even when I had just filled the tank. The letter advises that gm will only cover half of the repair cost. Obviously, this was a problem with the vehicle when I purchased it new and I see no reason why gm should not be responsible for the entire cost of the repair. Also, why has there been no recall for this problem?.
With a full tank of gas the fuel gauge stoped working and now reads empty all the time. The check engine light comes on and off depending on how much fuel is in the tank. This Trailblazer had only 36,500 miles on it when this started. I beleave the dealer should pay for all the repairs as this is a safety hazard.
Fuel gauge no longer reads corrrectly. Problems began several weeks ago with a gasoline fill up. The gauge did not read correctly (empty) but righted itself after several miles. The gauge no longer corrects itself and reads empty practically all of the time, even when there is suffucient fuel in the tank.
The fuel gauge light went on when the vehicle still had nearly 10 gallons of gas. The fuel gauge will read full for a week and then the fuel light when come on suddenly. There have been multiple occasions when the fuel gauge read empty, but I was only able to fill up with 8 gallons (fuel tank is 20 gallons plus). Fuel gauge has been so inaccurate that I have been forced to use my trip odometer and I don't feel confident taking car on a road trip or out of town.
Fuel gauge on my 2007 chevy Trailblazer does not give consistent readings. The needle moves up and down and signals the tank is empty while the vehicle is in use regardless of actual fuel level. This occurs every time I drive the vehicle. I am looking to fix the issue.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving at approximately 10 mph the fuel gauge light illuminated on the instrument panel and a warning alarm began to sound notifying the contact the fuel tank was empty. The contact stated fuel had been added to the vehicle and the fuel tank was not empty. The fuel gauge reading fluctuates from empty to full while driving at any speeds. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The vehicle was not repaired. There was an investigation under NHTSA action number: dp10001 (fuel system, other:storage:fuel gauge system) that may be related to the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000. Ds.
Fuel gauge fluxuates you never know how much you have it will show you have a full tank it may be half or empty, it might show empty and will float any part of the gauge quarter or half full. This could cause a serious accident, at one time we thought we had a half tank of gas and ran out of gas on an interstate fortunately we pulled off side of road and walked to get gas we were out of gas. The only way to know you have gas is to keep a check with odometer reading. The low fuel light will come on and then miles left will coincide with the low full light but you may have gas in the vehicle. It is never consistant. I will stay at a certain reading for several minutes or so then you don't know which way it will go. There should be a recall on this vehicle. It has only 37,582 miles or so. We bought it off a friend when his wife passed away, he bought it new.
Turned on Trailblazer and fuel gauge showed empty with gas light on. This now occurs everytime we turn on the SUV and cannot tell how much gas is in the tank. We are currently having to reset our mileage every 275 miles to make sure we don't run out of gas.
Fuel gauge indicator misrepresents actual fuel in tank. Begins to decline after 10 minutes of driving. There is a problem with the sensor. Gm needs to recall and fix this feature in my 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Fuel level sensor gone bad. Can't tell how much gas is in the tank. Never know when I may run out. Known problem with the gm Trailblazer.
This morning when I got in to my car I had a quarter tank of gas. After I had turned my car off and back on it show my tank was empty and the gas light was on. I filled up my tank and it still showed empty with the gas and check engine lights on now. I am now not able to tell how much gas I have in my car.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated the fuel gauge failed to display an accurate reading with fuel consumed in the fuel tank. The manufacturer mailed a notification offering to reimburse fifty percent towards the fuel level sensor repair expense. The failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000.
Fuel gauge failure, inaccurate reading. Fuel guage stays on empty. Driver has to rely on tripometer to guess range to determine when to fill gas tank.
The gas tank is reading incorrect. When I filled up, after reaching 3/4 of a tank, the tank reading plummeted to empty.
I purchased a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer new in November of 2006. I currently have 41000 miles on it and have an issue with the fuel gauge. I filled the tank and the gauge now reads empty with the yellow fuel light illuminated. The check engine light is also illuminated. Due to its inaccurate readings, I ran out of gas on a major highway and had to push it onto a shoulder putting myself in an extremely dangerous position along with my wife and 2 children. I called the dealer and was advised that it is not covered under warranty and that there are no recalls on the vehicle and would cost approximately $1000 to fix. In researching this on the internet, I found that hundreds of customers have exactly the same problems with their 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazers putting their lives and their families lives in danger as well. This is an issue that Chevrolet needs to address and that this problem needs to be recalled before someone or someone in their family is killed.
Twice now the vehicle has run out of gas while driving at highway speeds and the gas gauge still shows a quarter of a tank. This past week we started to notice the gauge reading has been going up and down in 1/4 tank intervals and we aren't quite sure how much gas is actually in the tank. We have an appointment scheduled with our dealer, but felt this problem should be reported as others with the same vehicle are having the same issue.
The fuel gauge reads wrong. I have ran out of gas multiple times because the gauge reads having more fuel in the tank than it does. Sometimes the gauge will read full then go to empty and back again within a few miles of driving. I'm afraid to go on any long trips because of the fear of running out of gas. It happened to me in an intersection and was almost t-boned by another vehicle because I could not accelerate. The other vehicle was able to swerve and avoid a collision.
Gas gauge on 2007 Trailblazer is only accurate when tank is completely full. After a few miles it registers empty so you never know how much gas you have.
2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer fuel gauge drops to "empty" and indicator light comes on. Happens when actual fuel level reaches approximately half a tank of gas.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving approximately 30 mph the fuel gauge reading began to fluctuate. After the reading began to fluctuate the contact fueled the vehicle and the empty fuel tank warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where a new fuel level sensor was installed. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.
Fuel guage is not accurate we were in left lane the gas guage showing 1/2 tank when vehicle ran out of gas there was no median on the left so we had to coast across 3 lanes of traffic to safety - very dangerous.
