1 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/30/2022

For several years the low beam headlights would go off and on intermittently. Now, they are mostly off which means I cannot drive my vehicle at night anymore unless I want to blind people or get stopped. I have changed headlamps, relays and fuses to no avail. Now, I see that many others with the same make and model SUV have been having the same issue but no recalls have been issued for this year model. This is a major safety issue when we have to drive with the high beams on and when the lights go off unexpectedly. If you will issue a recall for one year model having a particular issue, why would you not do the same with all year models having the same issue? come on Chevrolet and NHTSA, let's get this problem solved to save some lives. It is very scary to be driving and have your headlights go out and a major pain to have to be sure you are home by dark or not be able to go out after dark because your headlamps are or may stop working.

Two different times within 1yr the heater blower motor relay has gotten hot enough to melt the connector and burn out the relay, connector replaced twice and currently melting again as fan speed 1, 4, and 5 have again stopped working. Heater blower motor also replaced twice concurrent with relay.

7 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 10/05/2017

Headlamp driver module not working right. Headlights go out while driving. Just started happening. Chevy said will not pay for as it is past the July 29 expiration. I was driving down the highway at night. Headlights went completely out. Very scary. They said I will have to pay to have it fixed as it is no longer their problem. This happened to me a few years ago with the fuel gauge. It shows I have no gas in my car when I actually have full tank. Never had it fixed because it costs too much and chevy said past expiration date.

8 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 09/09/2017

I was driving down the highway and my lights just went off. The interior lights were on but the headlights went out. I stopped the car, turned it off, waited a few minutes and turned it back on. The lights did not come back on. The high beam lights still worked and I drove home with my brights on. When I got home and turned off the car I tried them again and this time they came on normally. This is the third time this has happened at night that they just went off.

12 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 11/09/2016

When driving vehicle both left and right low beam headlights go out. The first time it happened was when I was driving long distance in the dark. Had to drive with my high beams on for the rest of the trip. There is no specific time frame, but generally it happens anywhere from 10- 30 minutes of driving. I suspect it is heat related. I have changed the headlight relay #46, bit it only fixed the problem for a week. Again the lights will go out after driving several minutes. I noticed there is a recall for a similar issue on the 2006 chevy Trailblazer. Could this be the same problem with my vehicle. There are also multiple forums explaining the same exact issue with early 2000 model Trailblazers. This issue happened approx 6 months ago. Last week we ran into another problem. Our abs light comes on periodically. Like the headlights going out, the abs light comes on after driving the vehicle for a certain amount of time anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes. Again, I feel it electrical components/wiring is overheating and causing these issues. I feel there should be a safety recall for this this issue as it is affecting hundreds of customers USA wide.

Later, the electrical components on the front driver's side door, including the side view mirror, power window, and power lock switches, failed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the driver's door master power window switch module failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer rebooted the module as a temporary repair, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer and pay for the repairs. The approximate failure mileage was 195,000. The VIN was unavailable.

Failure Date: 03/31/2015

The headlights work then shut off. (on the way to work in a downpour, no less) dashboard lights partially working. (if I go over 40 mpg can't tell what my speed is) was working correctly for a couple of days now nothing. I checked for recalls and there are recalls for 2006-20xx (NHTSA 14v755000 ) just wondering, after finding on the internet, numerous 2005 owners with same problem, why this model wasn't included in the recalls? I would like to file a complaint on the potentially deadly problem of the 2005 chevy Trailblazer that should be corrected and included in this recall. Thank you.

19 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/20/2015

Low beam headlights went out while driving at night. This is the 3rd time this has happened and it almost killed me because I was on a winding road with no street lamps. It was pitch dark. I threw on the high beams and saw that I was about to crash into the center divider. I was able to maneuver the vehicle and get it back on the road without an incident. I called gm customer assistance center and spoke with jason ext 11020 and he told me that the recall that is out for this issue does not include my VIN number. I explained to him that I was experiencing the same problem that the other Trailblazers are having and he told me that I would have to pay for this issue myself if I wanted it to be fixed. I need gm to know that my vehicle is having this same issue and it needs to be recalled for this issue. He also told me that your agency notifies them of when a recall needs to be addressed, not the other way around and that he would do nothing to help me. I have a wife and a son. Our life is in their hands. Please help me get this recall through so other families don't experience the near dead experience that we did.

While driving down the road my headlights would go out. We put a new fuse in that has helped for a while. Now about 2 months ago I shut my car off and opened the doorthe radio would not shut off so I turned my car on and back off it went off that time. I took my daughter into dance went out to get something out of my car and my headlights were still on. So I turned my car on and off looked still on so I went back to watch my daughters dance. After another hour it was time to go home walked outside headlights were still on. Got home my husband looked at it and tried turning them off nothing would turn them off. So he pulled the fuses he said the relay was so hot he couldn't even touch it. So I have no dim lights unless I carry fuses with me to out in and take out or I just can't drive it at night.

27 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 11/07/2013

I went into town to grab dinner and as I am driving along, my headlights shut off. The only thing that remained on, were the orange turn signal lights. I frantically turned the headlight knob on an off and nothing happened. I was looking for a place to turn off the highway, however it was night time and I had no headlights. I ended up pulling over to the gravel side of the road, and turned the car off. Now I am stuck on the side of the highway at night time, with no working headlights. I turned the car off and got out, tapped the headlights and looked for any physical damage and did not find an answer. Upon starting the car again, it sounded like someone had turned on a vacuum cleaner. The noise pitched up for about 5 seconds before pitching back down. After re-starting the oil pressure gauge moved from its normal position at "12 o'clock" to an abnormal "6 o'clock". I tried to call onstar for a vehicle diagnostic, however now my radio would not work either. I tried the headlights again, and they still would not turn on. I turned on my high beams, and proceeded back home. While en route my speedometer was reading 10mph over my actual speed. When I pulled into my driveway and turned the car off, the speedometer stayed at 10mph. I find it very hard to believe that all of these things happened all at once as a coincidence. This is a huge safety concern as I lost the ability to see at night, as well as the ability to monitor my speed all while trying to drive. Not to mention all of the motorists who were blinded by my high beams on the way back.

29 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

Multiple times my Trailblazer has stalled without warning. It tends to happen when I am in a stopped position. Whether it is at a stop light or just stopping in general. It takes a minute and then restarts. It has also multiple times lost head lights. The last time was at 9pm while driving home with my children in the car. My headlights went out I had to pull over and the only way my lights would work was if I held my high beams on.

30 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 07/08/2013

I can smell as if something burning, on different occasion. The headlights would ramdomly shut off, while driving. I would switch to high beam in order to see. The back hatch window, locks when it wants to. The airbag indacator lights come on and stay on awhile. The vehicle will stall and then accelerate at times. The tire pressure lights, does not come on when pressure is low. The check engine light comes on, and stay on awhile, and then goes off, and comes back on. The climate control heater system blows cold air. At one time the key would not come out of the ignition. Had to continue to giggle the key to get it out of ignition. Noticed my headlights did not come on when I used the remote entry to unlock or lock the door. The windows stall when going up or down. I have contacted gm , but they are telling me that my make, model and year are not part of the current recall. And that the letter they sent me, was to purchase warrenty for the vehicle. I feel that this vehicle is not safe due to this electrical problems.

35 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 09/01/2010

I bought this car about 4 years ago and it has been nothing but an elecitrical mess. First my head lights would go out once a month, then a couple times a month, then once a week. My brake lights started doing the same. Our famliy mechhanic couldn't figure it out, he just kept replacing them and sending the bad bulbs in for warranty. A couple times the pigtails and lamps had to be replaces. Also 3 seperate occasions both headlights went out at once while driving. And I had to drive home in the dark with no head lights on. I took it the chevy dealership after the third time abd apparently my fuse box was melted and needed to be replaced. Spent over 1000. 00 doing that and it worked okay for about a year. Then headlights started going out again and brake tlights as well. Not once a week, but still about once a month or every other month. Recently my drivers window stopped working and I couldn't control the master switch to lock my car or roll up my windows. The cluster panel in the door needed to be replaced. Also, had two sensors that needed to be replaced because my 4 wheel drive, parking brake, and crusie control would stop working all at once and the lights would be lit up on the dashboard. I wasnt' able to use any of them until the sensor was replaced. Also the power shorted out in my side mirros, so I can't adjust the mirrors with the control or they start tiliting back and forth like crazy on their own. I have to get out of the car and adjust them manually. Gm needs to do a recall, this car is not safe and I will not be buying a gm car while I look for a new car soon.
