Larger occuring issues which could effect safety include the vehicle randomly deciding to change from 2wd/a4wd/4wdh4wdl whenever it wants to under various weather/road conditions (including perfect weather and road surface) and occasional random ignition system failure this is not safe at all I have taken it to the chevy dearlership and they said it is a safety issue and that they need to do a recall on it they have had several rigs like this one come in for the same issue . . I believe that chevy gm needs to do a recall and have this fixed before I or someone else is injured or killed. .

Oil pressure gauge became unreliable and had different reading each time the car was driven. Most recently the gauge needle moves past the upper limits of the gauge and points straight down at the fuel gauge. Two days ago, the speedometer began acting in the same erratic manner and will give various readings including exceeding 120 mph and will point straight down at the steering column. It may read anywhere from 30 mph to 75 mph at various time when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is off. Bottom line is that I am no longer to check my speed in comparison to speed limits or speed warning signs when in mountainous terrain.

Own a 2005 Trailblazer while driving headlights turn off then come back on after awhile very unsafe, gauges don't always work. Tachometer is just for show hasn't work for awhile now. 2. Sometimes when I get in my t. B it won't start just won't crank over have to sit there holding the ignition forward til it cranks over my t. B only has 62,000 miles on it does someone need to die before something gets done so sad!!!.
While driving down a highway vehicle lost 100% of all electrical power. No headlights, wipers, radio, nothing. After pulling to the road side, turned ignition key to off and attempted to restart vehicle. Vehicle started right back up. Following day scanned for fault codes, none were found.
While driving at night, the low beam headlights stopped working without notice. Stopped at next convenience store, checked all fuses and all were good. Started ignition and lights still did not work. Checked high beam headlights and they worked. Followed up with mechanic the following morning. Could not diagnose problem and referred to a local dealer. Dealer diagnosed problem as being a faulty bcm. Bcm was replaced. Approx. 8 weeks later, same problem w/low beam lights not working. Dealer replaced relay. Now low beams work, check engine light has come on and fuel gauge has stopped working.
My husband was driving on the interstate at about 65-70 mph. All of a sudden it dropped down to 40 and we immediately pulled over and turned off the ignition. The needle was still reading 40. We were three hours from home and had no choice but to continue driving. Once we got within an hour from our house it started working correctly. Three days ago I was driving by myself and it happened again. The needle is stuck on 60 mph and my car is parked in the driveway. Please address this issue ASAP I don't think I should be driving around in a vehicle that isn't operating correctly just because I didn't choose to buy an escalade, tahoe, or suburban. Vehicles that have the same problem and were issued a recall.
Fuel gauge unreliable/erratic. Fuse gauge will read past full occasionally after filling the tank. After some amount of fuel is consumed the gauge will slowly begin reading within range and eventually as the tank empties it will typically, but not always, begin to read what I assume is a correct amount. It is hit/miss at each ignition turn whether the gauge will read what appears to be correct fuel level. When the issue is occurring, the gauge does not do the ?zero? reset calibration. I have been advised this could be the stepper motor in the gauge cluster (known manufacturer defect that gm refuses to acknowledge for this model vehicle) or the sending unit. This condition is a safety concern because when it does happen, I never know how much fuel I have remaining and I or whoever is driving the vehicle could be left stranded along a desolate highway with no fuel.

Repeated instances of speedometer failing to read correct speed. Often reads up to 120 mph while stopped. Random behavior. Has been occurring for last 8 months. Can be temporarily corrected by repeatedly turning ignition on and off without starting engine. Occurs when driving at normal highway speeds. Speedometer continues to climb until it hits its limit at well over 120 mph regardless of actual speed or when stopped. Very unsafe condition, particularly for people who are limited in their ability to judge speeds.
I own a 2004 chevy Trailblazer with 56k mileage. In December 2008, the speedometer stopped working. I would be at stop, and the needle showed 80 mph. I brought the car to the dealership right away and they told me that the cluster needs to be replaced - but they needed to order the replacement part. I finally got it fixed a week later and it cost me approximately $525. Now, for the past two weeks, the engine had suddenly shut off in the middle of driving. The "reduced power" & "check engine" lights came on. Both times, it started back up after I parked it, turned off the ignition, and re-started. But after the second time, I brought it in to the dealership. I had to have the accelerator pedal replaced. Cost me approx $360. These two issues are very concerning with me because if I were driving at higher speed (65mph) in the middle of the highway (instead of 30mph around town), I could have died from contacts with other vehicles because my vehicles stopped functioning!.
I own a 2005 Trailblazer. Its a great vehicle but problem's of great concern have risen. I would like to petition to have Chevrolet to display a campaign for the recall and correction of a fuel gage problem which myself and many, many Trailblazer owners are having. It involves the fuel gage not functioning properly displaying empty and or a variety of levels of the fuel tank. The amount of complaints which I have found on the internet of Trailblazer owners should warrant an action from Chevrolet to repair the problem with no costs to the owners of these vehicles. Please investigate and you will see the situation. I hope an action to correct is the responsibility of Chevrolet because it is definitely an design issue. Why do the owners have to pay something that is not functioning properly and definitely an issue from the manufacturer. The other issue is very serious. The doors lock automatically when the vehicle is not in drive or the engine is running. Case in point, my wife stopped at the service station to fill up with fuel, left the keys in the ignition close the door and started to fuel up. Part way in the filling as she stood there outside of the vehicle, her purse inside on the seat and the doors locked on their own. She then had to barrow someone's cell phone to call on-star to unlock the doors. I did not think much on it and thought she had did something to trigger the action. Well one day I was in the sitting truck and waiting for my wife. I have the key in the ignition, the engine not running and then the doors locked by themselves. I did nothing to trigger this. Now I believe there is something very wrong. This locking by themselves will be very serious if a mother has an child or infant inside the vehicle and he or she is possibly getting fuel or something. What if this happened and the child or infant started choking or convulsions or a very hot day and help is many minutes away. Does Chevrolet not care?.
I parked the 2005 Trailblazer in the garage after a short trip to pick up a neighbors child. Two hours later when I went to start my car to take the child home, my key would not turn. Steering wheel was not locked ( it could be turned and turn the wheels) trans was locked. I read on online forums that others have had issues like this, one guy said that he was able to pull back on his shifter and turn the key at the same time. This did not work for me as the trans shifter was locked. Result, tow, and replace switch.
I purchased a 2005 chevy Trailblazer on 4/15/05 shortly there after I was having problems with a whining sound. I took it to a dealer and I was told that it was the ignition pulley. I contacted the corporate office of Chevrolet to inquire about assistance with payment considering I was about 3, 000 miles over the warranty. After several calls Chevrolet absorbed this cost. Then in sept. Of 2005, my husband totaled his car and I purchased a 2005 Trailblazer for him. Again this car began making similar noises and my husband was driving home with our 2 year old son and the car began smoking. My husband immediately pulled off the road and contact roadservice. Once we took it to a mechanic he said that it was the ignition pulley which caused the transmission to die. We took it to a Chevrolet dealership and they said that was the transmission. I contacted the corporate office once again and this time they would not offer any financial assistance. It seems that the dealership said that it was the result of an oil change that did not occur at the 3000. They, the dealership based this off of a sticker that was in the window of the car. When I went to look at the car they was no oil sticker in the window. Despite that, I had contacted the chevy office about the same whining noise that I heard in my car (the ignition pulley) that my husband was experiencing in his car. This is still not resolved. We were told to fix this car it would cost $10,000. 00, yes, for a new transmission. We have since towed to home in order to avoid storage fees. Here sits a 2005 chevy Trailblazer with approx. 50,000. 00 and a new transmission is needed. We do not have the money to fix this and also pay the car note on it as well. As a read reports, this is a similar problem with many many Trailblazers. There needs to be a recall on this vehicle for faulty transmissions!!!!!.
(1) purchased a new 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer on Nov. 30,2006. Less that 1200 miles on it before wife took it on the interstate. (2) two light came on control panel and the vehicle went out of control. She had extreme difficulty regaining control of the steering and braking. After turning off the ignition and restarting the vehicle and the lights went off. On her return trip home it again did the same thing, however, she only drove about 40 mph until she could get home. (3)vehicle taken to Chevrolet service and diagnosed that there is two faulty circuits. Codes in system c0455, open sensor and shorted ebtcm diagnose. I declined repair until I could speak with gn. (4) spoke with samantha sheared 1-866-790-5700 ext. 20836 who advised to get it fixed and nothing more can be done. This is a safety issue and I am sure that ours is not the only vehicle with these faulty parts. My wife is too scared of the vehicle to drive it again, even if repaired. We are very dissatisfied with the unconcern of general motors about this issue.
I have a 2005 chevy Trailblazer that when driving at times the lights go bright and them dim when accelerating also makes a noise from the engine, also after sitting for the weekend would have to jump start and keys would stay locked in ignition I have searched the web for anyone having similar problems and I am glad to say that I am not imagining this, when we took to dealer they could not find anything wrong. Please investigate this problem I will add link to web site of forum where other people are having the same problem with this vehicle. This is a safety related issue due to driving @ night when the lights go dim is dangerous, please help. . Read more...
Our 2002 chevy Trailblazer mirrors will not reset to the memory positions. The mirrors change positions by themselves and have to be readjusted everytime the car ignition is turned off.
Exterior side mirrors with memory option fail to return to set position when key is inserted in ignition. Mirrors have to be reset almost every time key is inserted in ignition. Dealer re-programmed mirrors. But problem still exists. Dangerous because if you don't notice mirrors have moved and you go to make lane change in emergency mirrors could be out of adjustment causing increased time to change lanes.
2 gauges in ipc have malfunctioned: the speedometer and the fuel gauge. The speedometer needle begins to "stick" at 60 mph mark and does not reset back to zero after turning the ignition off. In fact, while on the freeway, the speedometer will often go past 120 mph mark. The fuel gauge needle sticks at the "empty" mark. Common sense dictates that driving a vehicle without any clue as to how fast or how much fuel you have is hazardous. My research has determined that gm has recalled the ipc for other 2003, 2004 & 2005 Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC models but not the 2005 chevy Trailblazer.
During normal operation my vehicle's check engine light came on. The acceleration became sluggish. After stopping the vehicle "putted" and then stalled. After putting the car in park it restarted fine, however this has happened 3 times in the last month. The vehicle is currently out of warrant due to mileage so I have not yet taken it to the dealership but will if it happens again.
Spontaneous electrical fire in 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer security lock on the ignition. The fire started in the lower dash by the consumer's right knee.
Purchased new 2002 Trailblazer ltz which has had this problem since 2005. Driver & passenger mirrors position themselves erratically at every ignition and sometimes while driving. A constant twitching on the passenger side also occurs while driving. It is very dangerous when mirrors are not positioned correctly once driving. Chevrolet dealer failed to find the fault and reprogrammed twice. No parts have been replaced as they have now idea what the problem is or how to fix it. This seems to be a common problem, however.
As I am going down the road the tachometer starts to jump around and then I lose the directionals and my lights. If I turn off the ignition it will not start again. This has happened four times in the past year. The dealership tells me that fuse #22 is blowing. As of today, my truck is still at the dealership and they do not know what is causing it. They have replaced the fuse each time. They also replaced the instument cluster and the ignition lock. I am seeking legal advise.
Since January of 2005 my 2003 trail blazer has been blowing the ignition fuse every time I start my truck. It will try until I turn it off and than no power. When this happens my turn signals go out, and my gauge goes hay wire. I thought it had to do with my remote start, and I had that completely removed. Now it does it more often. I took it to the dealership, and they charged me $20 to put a fuse back in which I told the dealership that is what I have to do to get it started, but it will blow again. Before I left the dealership the fuse blow the service manager just came out and replaced the fuse again and did not care that it was going to blow again. He basically just wanted me to leave the dealership. Guess what before I even turned out the fuse was blown again. When I dropped it off they were suppose to figure out what was causing this to happen, but they said they replaced the fuse, and it was fine. If I wanted them to look into it further it would cost $300. Just to look at more. I am pretty much at a loss because my vehicle is over the miles, but is only a 1 and a half years old. I don't know what to do. I think it was really bad that before I left the dealership I had the same problem , and they were fine with letting me leave.
Vehicle shut down while driving on the freeway, ignition locked. Consumer shook the steering column and it started. There was a multiple vehicle collision since the vehicle shut down at 65 mph.
The consumer stated the vehicle intermittently did not start. The dealer replaced the ignition twice.
While driving smoke was coming into vehicle through the vents. Consumer was able to pull over to the shoulder. A few minutes later vehicle caught on fire. The fire department was called. Vehicle was totaled.
Consumer was trying to accelerate but vehicle would not move, and then stalled. Consumer was able to restart the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for analysis. However, the mechanic was not able to resolve the problem.
The light on the 4 wheel drive knob is always jumping back and forth from 2 wd to 4 wd . The service 4 wheel drive light came on several times. The vehicle was taken to my Chevrolet dealership and it took them 5 days to figure out the service 4 wheel drive light was due to the ignition? my ignition does not start properly anymore. The lights on the 4 wd knob still blink. I do not know if the vehicle is safe. The dealership claims it is safe?.
The consumer was able to take the key out of the ignition although the vehicle was in gear.

When vehicle is being started,a clicking grinding noise is heard. Dealer notified. Please provide any further information.
