2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer with 175,500 miles has leaking transmission cooler line on passenger side of vehicle near air filter box and windshield washer fluid reservoir. Of the two lines in this area, one is heavily corroded while the other appears fine. Only noticed after transmission had leaked >3 quarts of atf and was shifting rough.
Driving on highway transmission blew, leaked 10 out of 12 quarts of transmission fluid. . . Very common in 2002 Trailblazers I feel chevy should have recalled the 2002 transmissions due to how many complaints people have had.
Transmission cooler lines spring a small pin hole leak. Leak directly under power steering pump. Lines cause transmission to slip and have very hard time shifting into next gear. Truck would almost red line. Can cause internal damage to transmission if kept driving. Truck has sat for 6 months now. Can cause an accident if transmission loses to much fluid.

Tl- the contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that transmission fluid was leaking onto the catalytic converter from the transmission line. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The technician stated the transmission cooler lines would have to be replaced due to corrosion on the insulated heat shield. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 122,924. Kmj.
I was driving my 2007 Trailblazer home after a 150 mile trip to columbus and noticed oil spots on my driveway. I moved and parked the vehicle in another location where a large puddle of "oil. " fell under the engine. I climbed underneath and saw transmission fluid dripping from the frame onto the ground. I called graham Chevrolet and was told not to drive as it would cause severe damage to the transmission resulting in a costly repair or replacement. I called aaa and had the vehicle towed on a flatbed truck to graham Chevrolet where they replaced the corroded and leaking transmission lines with a bill of over $500. 00 for the work done. They said gm knows of the problem and it is common to theses vehicles, but no recall or warranty repair was authorized. It was the customers problem to take care of. I have since found others with the same issue and also did an internet search showing many Trailblazers with this problem. My complaint is that the vehicle was designed and built with a defective transmission cooler line material subject to corrosion and failure over time. Gm and Chevrolet should be responsible for this repair and issue a callback to prevent any potential accidents or injuries due to this failure.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that he noticed fluid leaking from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. After diagnosis, he was informed that the transmission coolant lines had become corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired for the transmission coolant lines. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised that there were no recalls for his vehicle. The failure and current mileages were approximately 120,000. Kmj.

Fluid leak from transmission oil cooler lines due to corrosion.
I own a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer that has a defective transmission. The transmission has been completely replaced twice at approximately 24,000 miles and 45,000 miles. I learned recently on August 7, 2012, at just under 75,000 miles, that the transmission hoses were leaking fluid and that the transmission would need to be completely replaced again. I think general motors released a defective sports utility vehicle if the transmission needs to be replace approximately every 25,000 miles and these automobiles should be recalled as it could cause a safety hazard if the transmission stops working when someone is driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer.
TSB #pit-4722 -- GMC: fluid leak from transmission oil cooler lines due to corrosion. All 2000-2006 light duty trucks equipped with the light duty automatic transmission. (NHTSA id #10026804, October 01 2008).
Three times since purchasing this vehicle in January 2012, I have had to replace the right front wheel hub assembly due to bearing failure. Recently the transmission, which has not exhibited a leak, was very low on fluid, (3 quarts) and the fluid was burned. The transmission now slips and is changing erratically. The vehicle was regularly serviced at buff whelan Chevrolet in sterling heights, mi.
Transmission cooler lines are corroded and leaking fluid all around the front passenger side wheel well. These lines will need replaced before the transmission fails. The frame is soaked with transmission fluid and this is a potential fire hazard if the fluid leaks onto the exhaust or catalytic converter.

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer ext. While the contact was driving approximately 20 mph, the steering wheel became stiff and extremely difficult to maneuver. The transmission previously leaked an excessive amount of fluid. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the power steering and transmission lines were replaced at different times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
Transmission fluid began leaking from under my 2002 chevy Trailblazer in large quantities. I took it to a repair shop and was told that my transmission lines were rusted through, thus the reason for the leak. I was told that this is a problem with the Trailblazers and that it would be about $500 to replace the lines. The lines have been redesigned since 2002 and instead of only having to replace the two that are bad, all four will need to be replaced.
Transmission fluid leak caused by corrosion similar to TSB #pit-4722. Fluid seen on driveway when car parked. Fluid on undercarriage. Transmission oil coolant lines will have to be replaced at approximately $500 cost. Design issue for part to corrode after only 6 years.
Steel transmission line rusted a hole and leaked out transmission fluid onto the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe. Replaced line, old line kept.
GMC: fluid leak from transmission oil cooler lines due to corrosion.
While driving on the highway I lost power. I pulled over and found the transmission coolant lines had corroded. Transmission fluid had all leaked out and the transmission was ruined. The car was serviced at the dealer 2 days earlier at the dealer. I understand this is a typical problem with this vehicle and should be a recall.
Driving on vacation towing camper. Tried to accelerate and nothing. Got to gas station. No trans fluid. Got it to dealership . They said trans blown due to water in trans. Dipstick rusted inhalf. Leak with hose caused problem. Got fixed gm only paid 1/2 because we fought. Had extended warranty they said manufacturer defect. Found service bulletin on internet. Still fighting to get our money back . Only 51,000 miles.
I have a chevy Trailblazer ltz 2002,"bought it brand new" excellent condition 75,000. I had a transmission flush done at 50,000 miles as requested. I get oil changes done every 3,000 miles. On August 5th 2007 I noticed transmission fluid splattered all over the under carriage of my vehicle and the back window. Took the car to a my mechanic who recommended I take the car to transmission specialist "amoco"so I did. Need my transmission rebuilt, fluid leaking out of air port in transmission, the drums defective.
Transmission leaked fluid from the seal, and the vehicle would not go over 25 mph. Consumer drove vehicle to the dealer, and the manufacturer stated they would only pay half for a new transmission.
