The speedometer gets stuck on a speed and the only way to get it back down to 0 is by turning the engine on and off several times. This has happened to me several times in the last few months. From my research on this it appears this is happening to many many people but nothing gets done about it. It seems to me like it should be a recall to get it fixed.

The speedometer in my car started not working a week ago. . It would say I was going 70 and in reality I was only going 55. Now it starts out at 110mph when I start driving. . . . Making it really difficult to know how fast/slow I am going. I have read many articles of this happening with this make and model of vehicle.
Dash controls and readings all go out. Speedometer does not show speed. Oil pressure gauage does not read correctly.
Our speedometer does not work any longer and as I read, this is a common problem but there is so recall on the vehicle.
The problem happens when coming to a stop the engine will surge or jump as much as 2000 rpm's and you really have to be on the brake to hold it. Go to neutral let it rev then it will come back to normal. The last time was on a snow packed intersection with two other vehicles in opposite directions. The bad thing is you don't know when it's going to do it. Had it to several garages and nobody can duplicate it and it shows no codes.

I have 2004 Trailblazer in Jan my tack and spedometer have not worked properly . . . I cannot afford the 500 dollar plus fix on this vehicle. I have read many complaints in regards to the same sisituation. Apparently no one has taken care of this problem. Ifrom my understanding there have been recalls on most other vehicles with the same problem, I do not understand why there isnt one for the Trailblazer. Please advise what to do.

Speedometer and tachometer. Both have not worked properly for a few months now. . . Un safe will be getting it fix unfortunately its going to cost alot of money but will save lives. . . I have heard many complaints about this same issue did some research and there were quiet alot of ppl w same problems. . Something needs to be done to prevent any and all safety issues.
Speedometer does not work in vehicle. Stuck in one spot cannot determine what speed is in vehicle.
Speedometer stopped working a few times until it completely has gone dead and doesn't work at all. My Trailblazer also has stalled if stopped at a red light more than once.
The speedometer and all other gauges except the gas gauge have stopped working.
The speedometer is stuck and will not go back down to 0mph when stopped.
I was driving approximately 40 mph and all of a sudden I lost power in the vehicle. I had no acceleration, I lose power steering. Vehicle was still powered on but I could not pick up speed or steer vehicle. I had to pull over to the shoulder and cut off ignition then restart vehicle. Once restarted I had full functionality again. This has happened 4 times in the last 30 days. Vehicle has also started stalling when attempt to start up.

For approximately 6 months my 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer's speedometer was intermittently showing that I was going from 100 to 120 mph. It didn't matter what speed I was actually going or even if I was sitting still. I called the Chevrolet hotline because I noticed other owners having the same problem. They were basically not helpful. As many complaints that there are about this defect, I cannot believe the NHTSA has not stepped in. It is now happening all the time as it is approaching 74,000 miles which seems to be the mileage when everyone is stating they are having the most trouble.
Since October 2014 the speedometer would randomly start up at different initial points. Some days it would start at 60 mph, 10mph and recently it starts up at 110mph. When the vehicle is in motion the needle would move when accelerating but the readings are completely inaccurate. I have read various online blogs of this same incident happening to numerous chevy Trailblazers in general. Gm does not have this problem as a recall therefore I would formally like to make a complaint. Thank you for your time.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the accelerator pedal was released but the speed failed to decrease. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not aware of the issue. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 127,000. Ne.
Speedometer stopped working, or would show incorrect speed. Has continued this problem to current date.
The instrument cluster on the 2003 Trailblazer malfunctions, causes the speedometer to stop working and you can't tell how fast your going. The malfunctions also occur with the temperature, oil, and gas gauge. Very dangerous not knowing how fast your going. The vehicle needs to be recalled.
My speedometer has stopped working in my car an I don't know how fast the car is traveling, done a research online an there are thousand people with the same probably as mine with the exact same make and model of car as I have. Something needs to be done cause Chevrolet want $500 to replace the speedometer an that is not right.
The odometer stops working periodically. It has happened a lot recently, and sometimes it resets when we turn the car off, but sometimes that doesn't help. The needle will just get stuck even after breaking. Other times, it just falls down to zero while we are still at a higher rate of speed.
Driving down interstate 79 in pennsylvania at normal speed when my airbag light lit up and my air bag disengaged flashed, followed by more lights on the dash going on, and tracking disengaged flashed, then engine light came on, engine failure flashed as I started moving toward the right hand lane in heavy traffic. Just as I made it to the right lane my power cut out and I was going 20 - 25 mph in two seconds flat. I swerved to the berm of the road as the four wheeler semi truck that was behind me nearly clobbered me. I inched on the berm at 20 mph to the bridgeville exit and got to the colussy Chevrolet dealer where my car stopped dead in the service dept. First, they thought battery, but the battery was fine. It was ignition switch failure which caused my air bags to disengage and my losing power. I was lucky I wasn't killed!! the cost of repairs was $337 but I was told that my 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer was not on the gm recall list, even though I had the exact things go wrong with the vehicles on the ignition switch recall list. And they repaired it the same way, with no guarantee that this wouldn't happen again!!! this is not a "vehicle" recall, it is a "parts" recall and my vehicle had to have the ignition switch replaced. I called the gm ignition switch recall hotline and they escalated my case up and up and everyone said the same thing. . . . They are sorry for my distress, my inconvenience but my vehicle is not on the recall list so they cannot replace the cost to repair my vehicle. Perhaps if the semi truck that was behind me killed me, they might acknowledge my safety concerns for the ignition switch (part) and not my vehicle!!!.
We were driving on the highway and the speedometer jumped up to 120+ mph. I was going 70mph. This has happened a few times. Its very annoying and dangerous not knowing how fast you are going. Please get a recall out on this problem. I have read quite a few stories about this happening and gm not doing anything.

The speedometer gauge went down to 0, while I was on hwy traveling at 55 mph. My speedometer currently isn't working and gas gauge is not working to. Why isn't there a recall on this? the lighinting will go out to and dont want to come back on some times.
We were driving at about 55 (we dont know exact speed as our control panel is not working) and the steering went out. It was hard pulling to the right and a few times we could not control it and went off the road. We had another incident like that when we were driving in the snow. When we purchased the car we had a fuel issue that covered under a recall. . . . Now our whole panel is out. We dont know the speed we are going, the oil light and engine light are always on. We take care of our car so we know its not low on anything.
Speed control. Driving down the road & the speedometer does not register the correct speed. 10 to 20 miles per hour over & even more at times. No way of knowing how fast car is going. Sometimes it registers under. Very dangerous driving. Never knowing how fast or slow I am going. Chevrolet also replaced fuel gauge sending unit. Rear wiper has not worked for years. Tried everything to fix. Very unsafe to not be able to see out of my back window. This vehicle has a lot of problems. Bought new. Very low mileage.
Cluster gauges are going out. The speedometer quick working a few years ago and is intermittent at best on a daily basis. It either indicates a lesser or greater speed than actual or just falls to point straight down. I have been using a mounted gps to indicate speed. Initial repair cost estimates were $500+ for the parts since they will only replace the entire gauge cluster. With labor, the estimate was in excess of $800. Fuel gauge is now inoperative or intermittent. When I fill the tank, the fuel gauge reads way past the full line. Having to rely of the ¿fuel to empty and the ¿fuel used computer information along with the the trip meter to estimate fuel. Received another estimate for a mechanic to pull the gauge cluster and rebuild each individual gauge motor for an estimate of $500. Based upon the number similar complaints on this same thing, this appears to be a manufacturing defect that needs to be corrected by gm.
I was driving down the highway when the check engine and low power lights came on. I lost all acceleration and my rpm's dropped to nothing. Codes that came up were for the throttle body. I read a complaint that states gm knows about this issue. Why haven't they done anything about this?.
My husband bought the car used for me for christmas 2013. I was driving through the city when I looked down to see how fast I was going the speedometer said 0 it remained that way until the next day. I started it the next day it seemed fine but after a 1/2 mile I noticed I sped up and speedometer was going down until it finally went to 0. I have been driving with a speedometer that doesn't work. I looked online and seen that a lot of other consumers were having the same problem some with much less mileage.
I was driving on the highway when I slowed down & stopped for an accident ahead of me. I did not slam on my brakes and I did not go over any bumps that would jar the vehicle. I was stopped for approximately 20 minutes. When I began accelerating I noticed the speedometer was no longer accurately reading my speed. I was doing around 50 mph, but my speedometer was reading 22 mph. I tried turning the car off once I got home, then restarting it, but it was still reading 22 mph. When I drove it the next day, it started out reading 10 mph, and has varied since then, but still not reading accurately.
While traveling we noticed the we were being passed excessively, we looked at the speedometer and saw that we were doing slightly above the speed limit. Out of curiosity we checked our speed against our gps / Smart phone and saw that we were doing 30 mph under the speed being reported by our speedometer. After searching on the internet we found that 100's if not 1000's are having the same issue or even sometimes in reverse where it states that they are doing 120 mph when they are only doing a fraction of that. In addition we have found that there has been a recall on this same part on other gm vehicles for the exact same reason but the Trailblazer was excluded for whatever reason. How can not knowing how fast your actually going not be a major hazard especially with a proven history of failures.
This SUV is nothing short of a rolling hazard. The "check engine" light is on and off, again, for the past 6 days. Tried to start it up this morning and the engine light was on. As soon as I was about to back out of the driveway, the vehicle started to idle in a manner that caused the rpms to crank way up and then plunge until almost shutting the engine down with violent shaking and loud roaring noise. Yesterday, the stabilitrak warnings (2) came on the dashboard - I was only going 3 mph exiting a parking lot. There was no inclement weather and the road was bone dry. I haven't been able to pick up power and it seems like the more I press on the gas pedal, the slower I go. I live in houston and the traffic conditions really don't allow for a "sudden stop" or loss of power on a freeway where people are traveling at an average speed of 70 mph. I have had 4 other instances of this "check engine" light in 3 yrs. The dealer isn't much help and gm chevy is no help at all!!!! the tv commercials they run about chevy trucks are "like a rock" are very true. This Trailblazer is as useless as a rock.
I went into town to grab dinner and as I am driving along, my headlights shut off. The only thing that remained on, were the orange turn signal lights. I frantically turned the headlight knob on an off and nothing happened. I was looking for a place to turn off the highway, however it was night time and I had no headlights. I ended up pulling over to the gravel side of the road, and turned the car off. Now I am stuck on the side of the highway at night time, with no working headlights. I turned the car off and got out, tapped the headlights and looked for any physical damage and did not find an answer. Upon starting the car again, it sounded like someone had turned on a vacuum cleaner. The noise pitched up for about 5 seconds before pitching back down. After re-starting the oil pressure gauge moved from its normal position at "12 o'clock" to an abnormal "6 o'clock". I tried to call onstar for a vehicle diagnostic, however now my radio would not work either. I tried the headlights again, and they still would not turn on. I turned on my high beams, and proceeded back home. While en route my speedometer was reading 10mph over my actual speed. When I pulled into my driveway and turned the car off, the speedometer stayed at 10mph. I find it very hard to believe that all of these things happened all at once as a coincidence. This is a huge safety concern as I lost the ability to see at night, as well as the ability to monitor my speed all while trying to drive. Not to mention all of the motorists who were blinded by my high beams on the way back.
Electrical issues:vehicle dashboard lights will show door gate open, doom lights wil be on, ringing bell when the door would be open and yet its actually closed, as all continues to go at any given time when the vehicle is in movement. Speed odometer gage doesn't read when vehicle is in movement and the gas gage doesn't read the correct level of showing how much gas is in vehicle. This is a big safety issues cause it has me worried of not knowing how much gas I have before it runs out of gas risking myself and others because vehicle all of a suddenness loses speed and shuts down.
I have a 2003 Trailblazer that has a speedometer that does not work correctly, on the highway the speeds vary and sometimes show that it is going 0 miles for hours other times it will show different speeds such as 35 or 45 while driving at the same speed of traffic which is 70 mph. The oil pressure gauge is stuck beyond the highest lever and at intermittent times the tachometer does not work. There is also an issue with the heating and cooling fan where the fan will not blow at all and you have to shut the car down and restart it to get the fan to blow at all. The ac and heat are also not changing in temperature at all. I have read many complaints about the speedometer and instrument cluster and find it ridiculous that there has not been a recall put forth on this, especially to ensure motorists are traveling at the correct speeds ensuring the safety for all and that gm has not offered any type of recall for the Trailblazer but has on different models with the same problem in the same model years.
First incident: (23 August 2013) driving to stop at stop sign at approximately 15mph , vehicle turned off without any warning lights. Second incident: (26 August 2013) driving on highway going close to 65 mph, once again vehicle turned off without any warning lights. Had to turn hazards off and coast to safe zone while cars were passing me going 65-80mph. Third incident: (28 August 2013) driving close to 50 mph, once again vehicle shut off without any warning lights. Once again had to coast to the median and hope not to get in a car wreck. All 3 of these incidents happened with my 2 year old daughter in the vehicle. I have also done research through various forums and websites. It happens without any warning at all and from what I have read there is only a temporary fix by changing the ignition switch but months later it comes back. The only thing that you can do (from my knowledge) is let it sit for an hour or 2 and then it starts up fine, but when your driving at 70 mph the last thing you want is for your vehicle to completely shut off on the highway. There are thousands of people in the exact same situation as me hoping the next time they get into their vehicle they wont be in an accident. Thank you for your consideration.
This is the second time this has happened - what happens is I will be driving ( speed once at 35 once at 60 ) and my Trailblazer just shuts down. Instantly. You have no power to to get over to the side of the road. P0601 code - this is what shows on my mechanics system. However, when you research that code online. Some folks have spent thousands trying to stop this issue and no resolve. This is highly dangerous - you go from 60 to nothing. My tb has less than 50k on it.
