36 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2024

I keep getting a shift to park, even though I am in park. I’m not able to turn off my car. I have read this a big issue with 2019 Traverse, why is there no recall showing as it can mess up the transmission?.

37 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2024

The vehicle is equipped with auto stop technology that the driver can’t disable. While driving, the system is designed to initiate auto stop when vehicle comes to a stop. When my foot lifts off the brake to proceed, the engine kicks back in and vehicle moves forward. Two weeks ago at a stop, the engine did not kick back in. I had to put the car in park at the light and after several attempts to push the ignition button, the engine finally kicked back on. The vehicle had the same issue later that day so I scheduled with the dealer for 4 days out. No warning lights came on. My onstar app did not produce any error notice. Meanwhile, I saw a video to override auto stop, put vehicle in low gear 6. That’s what I did to get through to appointment. By day 3 (dealer is day 4), I returned to vehicle after an hour meeting and it didn’t start at all. The check engine light turned on, not the battery light. Had vehicle towed to dealer who said the only alert was a bad battery. (battery is 16 mo with 36 mo warranty & alternator 5 mo old). I replaced the battery. Picked up vehicle from dealer and 5 miles away at a stop, vehicle shut off. I put vehicle in park, pushed ignition button and engine turned back on. I thought it was a fluke. 6 days later the vehicle turned off at stops on four separate occasions. Each time the battery was fully charged. On one last instance at an intersection stop, the vehicle shut off, would not restart when I pushed the ignition button, brake pedal became stiff, and dash lights and radio were completely off, as if the battery died. I let the vehicle sit at the intersection for 30 seconds before trying the ignition button, and it finally fired up. To get home, I put it in neutral at each stop to keep it from going into auto stop. This issue is not generating an “error” on the computer so dealer techs have no idea what to do. When I bypass auto stop by shifting to neutral at stops or driving in l6, there is no issue whatsoever with the vehicle.

38 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2024

My car is displaying the “shift to park” message in the dashboard.

39 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2024

I have been experiencing an intermittent issue where the vehicle displays a “shift to park” message, even though the gear shift lever is clearly in the park position. When this happens, the vehicle will not fully shut off, and I have to repeatedly move the shifter back and forth or restart the vehicle to clear the message. This issue began around January 2024, and it has become more frequent over time. I understand that this is a known defect in gm vehicles, and that gm issued technical service bulletin #19-na-206 to address it. According to the TSB and owner reports, this problem is caused by a faulty park switch or microswitch inside the shifter assembly, and the solution involves installing a jumper harness and/or replacing the shift control assembly. This is both a functional and safety concern, as the vehicle may not recognize it's in park and could potentially result in a failure to turn off or secure properly. I’m requesting that general motors or an authorized dealer perform the recommended repair per TSB #19-na-206 at no cost, as this is a widely reported manufacturing defect. Please advise how this issue can be resolved as soon as possible. I am attempting at uploading a photo and a video. The system does not allow videos and it is rejecting the photo.

40 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/25/2023

Car won’t turn off. Frequent shift to park messages when already in park. This appears to be common known problem and should be recalled immediately.

41 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2023

I shifted to park and turned the engine off. The engine turned off, but began beeping and the message board said shift to park. I started the engine again and shifted in and out of park and turned off engine. The same beeping and the same error message. I tried several times, with the same results. The car would not lock, and the beeping would not stop. I left the car for 20 minutes and then started it again and turned it off. At that time it stopped beeping and there was no error message. I had several errands to run on that day, and each time I got the error message with the beeping, and could not lock the car. This is a safety issue because I each stop I had to leave the car unlocked. I am a 78 year old widow and was traveling alone. Also, I worried that someone could start the car by just pressing the ignition button. I took it to the dealer and waited while it was being repaired. The dealer charged me $41. 12 for a part listed at $21. 49. They charged me $270. 00 for labor for a job taking less than one hour. They also tacked on $20. 00 for a "shop cost". General motors has a repair bulletin #19-na206 for this issue. From the posts on the internet it is a common problem, and should have warranted a recall.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2023

Car will not lock, ignition continues to beep and displays a message saying -shift to park.

43 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2023

Shift into park error comes up on screen when vehicle is put into park.

44 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2023

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated after driving and arriving at his destination, the vehicle was parked and turned off however, console lights and radio remained functioning. The contact stated that the vehicle was turned off and the vehicle jerked forward. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

45 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2023

Has “shift to park” issue and will keep electronics on, killing the battery. Other vehicles were recalled but this is an excluded one. Was rear ended enough to get a salvage title but I was told a salvage title doesn’t affect safety recalls. Bought with less than 2k miles and have 22k miles on the vehicle now so there hasn’t been excessive use. Has done it several times now.

46 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2023

“shift to park” alert on the dash constantly comes on when you are actually parked. You then must re-start the car and put it into park again. You must do this up to ten times to park without this signal going on. Within the last week, this has happened each and every time I have had my vehicle out. Over the last few months it has happened intermittently. Dealer says they are seeing a lot of this on my make and model when I took my car in this morning. This seems to be a very common problem in internet forums as to my make and model. This should be a clear recall. I can attach the invoice once the repairs are made today.

47 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2023

Listed on a chevy website as a recall for 2018-2019 Traverse “shift to park”. It isn’t listed on your website or with the dealership. Over 170 complaints for the car not recognizing that you put it in park, which can drain the battery or worse cause your vehicle to move when it shouldn’t. I just paid $100 (luckily I had coverage), but this should be recalled. Dealership stated the part was on back order, which means a lot of people are having the same issue. This should be recalled and money refunded to customers.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2023

Vehicle wil not shift to park and will not shut down.

49 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2023

After one shifts the car in park and stops engine, a display warning and beeping sound starts stating "shift to park". Even though car is already in park. The beeping sound and message does not go away or quits. One cannot exit vehicle. Incorrect error and display messages and audio warnings are misleading and can lead to unknown safety concerns. . . The problem is repeatable and is occuring more frequently. The only way we have been able to "leave/stop" the car, is to repeatedly start car, shift into gear, shift into park and stop car engine. After 4 or 5 times, the car finally stops with no incorrect safety warning and beeping, and we can exit the car. Sometimes we have to drive a short distance to clear up this safety concern/issue.

50 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2023

Our Traverse shows a message “shift to park”. This happens after we have already shifted in park. This causes a continuous ding until we are able to trick the vehicle into park. The after concern is we leave the vehicle because we can’t get it to shift to park and it rolls damaging property or another person. This problem has left us stranded because we can not shift it.

51 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2023

When vehicle comes to a complete stop once auto stop engages vehicle turns off completely. Unable to start again after many attempts. Vehicle always needs to be towed back to the dealership.

52 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2023

Shift to park problem. When the car is in park there is an error message stating ‘shift to park. ’ I am unable to get out of my car, the car does not turn off or lock and I am trapped in my car in florida heat with a car beeping or honking if I leave it.

53 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2023

The dashboard message at instrument cluster says " shift to park" and an audible warning alarm keeps on beeping. Eventhough the car shift lever is in park. Engine shut off. I'm very afraid that the car may move and hurt people or my self even though the shift lever is on park. * yes, the car is available for inspection. * safety of others or my self at risk if the car moves. Inspected by dealer yet. Not by police. Not by insurance *were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? answer: message is "shift to park". Happened on may 8. 2023 several times every time the car is on park and engine shut down.

54 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2023

Shift indicator message comes on dash after engine shut off. When the warning lamp would trigger the switch with the shifter handle assembly would not message the body module of the action. A technical service bulletin recommended the shifter & electrical harness be replaced.

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2023

1. Shift to park issue, button on shifter has to be flicked a coupe time for sensor to realize it’s in park. 2. Speeds at 25mph then accelerating, transmission kicks. Transmission also whistles when cold.

56 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2022

When I shift the vehicle from "gear" to "park" the electric system does not register that the car is in "park". I receive a message on the dash (shift vehicle to park) when my vehicle is already in "park". If I try to get out of the car with the dash stating to (shift vehicle to park) the horn starts to beep. I have to keep putting the car in and out of gear and eventually it will electronically realize the vehicle is in "park". Sometimes it takes one or two tries for it to turn off and I can exit my vehicle or it has taken me 10 minutes of continuing to put the car in and out of gear. This started a few weeks ago and has slowly gotten worse. My Traverse is currently at Chevrolet to get fixed and I was quoted $692 plus tax to repair the issue. I have googled this issue and found this same problem posted dating back to 2020 yet this still is not a recall 3 years later. When I called/ dropped off my Traverse at Chevrolet they knew exactly what was happening without me fully explaining. This is a known issue that they stated was a transmission emergency and I was offered a same day appointment vs. Waiting for a normal appointment for two weeks.

57 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2022

When I put my 2019 Traverse in park, it gives a shift to park error message, even though it is in park. I can't shut it off so I put the gear shift in drive and back to park a few times and the message would finally go away and let me shut it off. The problem is constant now. Very frustrating!! now I'll have to take it to the dealer and hopefully they can fix it and without me having to take it in again to be fixed. And my warrant is expired now (42 months) so I'll have to pay for an expensive electrical fix. I've done some research and a lot of people are having this issue. Why hasn't there been a recall issued yet???.

58 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2022

3 major issues—1. The driver side seatbelt does not latch any more. This started happening 11/1/2022. 2. The "shift to park" message continues to appear while the car is in park. The vehicle at times will not shut off due to the message even thought it's actually in park. This has been happening for over a year without a fix and now we're over our 3 year warranty. 3. The car has 45 miles on it before it needed to refuel, however, it stalled and completed shut off in the middle of traffic causing a jam behind us! we had one of our toddlers in the car too which could have ended much worse. The car was towed to chevy ($160 bill for us), and chevy said it stalled and turned off because the fuel was empty even though it the dashboard said 45 miles on it.

59 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2022

When the car is in park, it gives a shift to park error, even though it is in park. It began about a week ago. I use to be able to wiggle the gear shift a bit and it would go away. Now the problem is constant. And you can’t just ignore it as it beeps and the lights stay on draining the battery.

60 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2022

Every time I put it in park the car will not turn off. I get a shift to park warning light and the car remains running. I was told at the dealership that it is frequent but gm will not recall it because they don’t want to replace the parts. I can’t get out of my car when I go places because it won’t turn off!.

61 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

When placing into park , message coming displays place in park, after many attempts it shifts into park, but has rolled into roadway while in park.

62 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

The issue is that after driving the vehicle when it is shifted into park the transmission fails to recognize that it is in park and sends a message to the screen to shift into park. It appears to be related to a buildup of material on the contacts for the sensor. The situation can usually be overcome by wiggling the shifter until the contacts make a proper connection.

63 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2022

Vehicle has a shift to park error and doesn’t recognize when the car is in park so will not allow the vehicle to turn off.

64 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2022

The vehicle gives a message of "shift to park" but the vehicle is in park. This is a safety issue and could cause harm to somebody if the vehicle does not think it's in park and start's rolling. It also doesn't let the vehicle shut completely off because it thinks its still in drive! there are alot of forums and complaints on this issue. Local dealership states yes we have heard of this issue but "it's not on a recall list yet and also not covered under warranty" this should be a recall and fixed by Chevrolet without charging customers $400-$1,000 to fix a big issue with numerous vehicles. Please help with this known issue.

65 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2022

On June 12, 2022, after stopping for gas, my car did not want to start back up. I put my foot on the brake and pushed the start/stop button, but the engine struggled to come on. It did a similar thing a week before, but on that time when I pushed the button to start the car, all of my lights came on and my radio, but my air conditioner delayed in coming on. When I put the car in drive to go, nothing happened and I realized the engine never started. I pushed the start/stop button again and everything shut off and then back on and I was able to drive. For almost a year now, I have had issues with the auto stop feature when I'm at a stop light/sign. When I try to take off again, it delays on letting me move. This is also when my car will jerk or jolt as I start to drive. I took it to the dealership to look at the problem and was told there may be something with the fuel system. All they did was flush the system, but the problem didn't stop. I am seeing reports online of similar things happening to other 2019 Traverse owners. This concerns me because what happens when my car decides not to start again and I'm in a busy area? what happens when my family is with me and it doesn't want to go or it shuts off at a stop sign or light and we're in crash? I am making an appointment with another dealership, but with how many other drivers seem to be having problems, this seems to be a manufacturer issue and needs to be taken care of by them.

66 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2022

About one month ago, I began receiving a "shift to park" message in error when powering off my car and in park. There is no way to override the message, during which the car remains on and there is a loud beeping noise. I have to power the car back on and manipulate the sensors to make the "shift to park" message go away - and this doesn't always work or takes several times. In addition to the obvious concern, I'm also concerned about my car's battery every time this happens. I have young children and am afraid to drive my car right now because of this issue. We bought out our lease in may and our warranty expired about three months ago and chevy is refusing to fix the defected part. Chevy is aware of this problem in older and other 2019 vehicles, they have yet to recall the 2019 Traverse. I took my car to a local mechanic to replace the faulty wire, with the same wire which will likely cause the same issue in a matter of time. Consumers should not be responsible for unethical practices. Please hold chevy accountable for their poor choices!.

67 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2022

The electronic cord in the shifter showing the "shift to park" message code caused my car battery to die and be unable to shut my car off and on for months. This electronic problem was nothing related to anything I did but the vehicle itself causing me to finally take it in because it was not safe for me and my kids to go far in case the battery would die. It costed me almost $500 and 6 hours of wasted time at the dealership. I would highly recommend and appreciate a recall reimbursement on this issues- I am not the first to have this happen.

68 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2022

Shift to park error on, car is in park however the car is not registering it is in park and won’t let me shut off car… tried several times of putting it in gear and back into park as well as driving it around a few separate times before it would finally register.

69 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2022

Shift to park error and the car can’t turn off.

70 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2022

When shifting into park after coming to a stop in a parking space the “shift into park” warning appeared on the dash. It took driving back and forth between reverse and drive to finally get the car to go into park without the warning indicator.
