There is an open recall on my 2016 Chevrolet Traverse that I have been trying to get resolved for almost 2 years. I finally opened a case with gm (#{xxx]) back on February 15, 2026 in an effort to escalate the repair. I received a call from a gm rep who has been less than helpful telling me the recall was completed in February of 2024 at a dealership in south carolina. I explained to him that my vehicle is housed in florida and has never been to south carolina. It is clear he is not interested in finding a resolution to my issue. He calls once a week to inform me he's working on it and will get back to me next week. This has been going on for a month. My grandchildren are often passengers in this vehicle and I have major concerns for their safety. It should not take 2 years to get this issue resolved. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Side airbags deployed when we slid off the road. No impact not even a scratch or dent on the vehicle. We did not hit anything but only slid sideways off the road. The insurance company inspected the vehicle nothing but the airbags were damaged. No other warnings.

I was in t-boned on the passenger side of my vehicle. All side air bags went off but did not deflate. I had to crawl onto my floor to get out of the vehicle. Also when the emergency collision park kicked in it locked my doors so had I been unconscious I would have been locked in the car.

While going around 40mph I approached a stopped vehicle and tried to come to a stop. At this time my braking system failed, speeding the car up instead of slowing it down, this resulted in my car rear ending another vehicle. When the car accident occurred my steering wheel air bag came out but did not inflate. There were no warning lamps or messages at the time of the crash. Due to the laws in mississippi it was declared I was at fault and the insurance company will not inspect or cover the damages.

I was in an accident in my 2019 chevy Traverse on September 4, 2025. Upon impact, my airbags did not deploy. I was pulling out from and intersection and a car with no lights on was coming from the right of me going towards the left of me. I ended up hitting his car on the driver' side and rear door. His side airbags went off. I was wearing my seatbelt. My body was thrown forward and hit the steering wheel. The airbag did not go off upon impact. I have a broken sternum, bruised ribs and bruises across my left shoulder due to the seatbelt. I ended up in the hospital overnight for observation. They were worried about my heart and lungs since they were jarred forward when I hit the steering wheel. Now my insurance company wants to total my car. They also want me to get a different title (salvage title) if I have the car fixed, which in turn with make it hard for me to sell it and keep insurance on it. I want to know what will be done about this. If I get the car fixed, will it happen again? looking for answers. I feel that I would have been just fine if my airbag had went off. Now I am looking at 6-8 weeks of painful recovery.

No warning lights were illuminated before the crash. The front and side curtain air bags failed to deploy. The contact reported that no injuries were immediately sustained, and no medical attention was provided at the scene. However, the contact was later transported to a local emergency facility and diagnosed with a back injury. A police report was filed. . The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the air bags, service brakes, and battery of the vehicle had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.
The "service airbag" light and notification comes up on the dash. This happened in the past as this vehicle was part of a recall NHTSA 14v118. The car was service for that recall already back on 3-18-2014 but the issue came back. This is dangerous because when that light is on, the airbags will not go off in the event of an accident. I need this fixed at no charge. Thank you.

The manufacturer has failed to remedy this safety recall. The recall is dated may 10, 2023, and now over 2 years later there is no remedy. I remain concerned about my safety and the safety of my family, while driving this car. Despite the cost of replacement, but in consideration of the potential seriousness of the issue, time fame involved, and lack of action by the manufacturer, I am requesting complete replacement of all airbags in the above-referenced car.

Purchased the vehicle in 2024, the vehicle recently has been notifying “shift to park” when vehicle is on park and ignition is turned off, the notification stays on and alerting, so I am unable to leave the vehicle. I must turn the vehicle on and off again, while moving the shifting lever back and forth from drive to park, this must be done a minimum of four times before it reads the lever in park position. It’s a safety hazard because, the vehicle cannot be left on shift to park and possibly roll away or drive/excel on its own. Vehicle has not been inspected at this time, when purchasing the vehicle in 2024, car fax report did not indicate any issue with power train. Would also like vehicle to be inspected for missing airbags, when driving 65mph or more, you can hear and feel air coming in and out of side front left passenger side of the vehicle.

Unknown to some, but yesterday Saturday around 12:30 I was inspecting the speaker ports in the rear 3rd row passenger area and I noticed these square tabs that says airbags, also in the very middle of second row the same thing but in the rear I was removing one of the mouldings to see why the speakers were not playing, upon inspection there are no speakers and neither are there any form of side and or rear collision safety devices ( airbags) other than seatbelts. If that truck were in an accident say like a t-bone, or rear end collision, or side rear impact no one is guaranteed safely making out without adverse affects on their bodies and health. I'm starting to wonder if this Traverse was salvaged and or restored. Why are there no safety features in this truck?!!.
It's been a year now I've been waiting for my 2017 chevy Traverse to replace the "safety recall" on driver's air bag inflator to be replace by this dealership. Their neglecting the safety issue that it may explode during deployment due to a manufacturing defect. They schedule me three times, one last year on my maintenance service and two times last month, ever since I got this "safety recall" notification from this dealership, after I waited at their waiting area for 2 hour, service will say to me that they have no replacement parts for my vehicle. Why schedule and tell me on text messages that you have the replacement part for my vehicle? you don't value your customers and you don't care about the safety of the driver. I'm not recommending a friend to buy on this dealership. Lucky a friend of mine ask, went to buy her first chevy tracks at bellevue, wa. I will never buy another chevy vehicle again from this dealership. Rude and unprofessional customer service, that's my overall experience.

Received recall notice, called dealer to make appointment for repair service, as the recall notice instructs, regarding airbag inflator and was told that there is "no remedy" at this time so no repair or replacement to airbag would be done at this time. I was told I would receive another notice when a remedy was decided on. I asked why couldn't my airbag be replaced and was told that, that was not the remedy.
The 2015 chevy Traverse ltz that I own is presenting with the same problems as many of its body style and year. The water intrusion has caused wiring to corrode in the side detection system & the drivers door wiring harness is presenting with open circuits. The lh side object module is throwing code u0233:00. They tested circuits at rh module. Found water intrusion in module, & corrosion on terminals & harness. Due to nature of location of modules, they recommend replacing lh & rh modules & harness. Dtc b0085:05 current. Tested circuits & found open circuit internal to drivers door harness. Recommend replacing harness. The air bag code threw 2 days after I bought the veh 04/01/25, I attempted to contact the dealership I bought the vehicle from, autocredit in hayden, id, who admitted to the dangerous code being present, and that they were going to do nothing about it. Some time late April, my veh threw the code for side detection. On 05/27/25 I took my veh into taylor & sons chevy in ponderay, who dx my codes, and advised the above was needed. They also confirmed the fact that when that airbag code is present, that none of my airbags would deploy at time of impact if a collision occurred. This is a huge safety risk as much of my daily commute is on the hwy, and the influx of drivers in my area not familiar with the roads is increasing daily. My side detection system is a safety hazard as well due to the Traverse’s blind spots. Thank you for your time. I did not know what to do until I contacted chevy directly who advised me to contact the NHTSA.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the message "service air bag" intermittently flashed on and off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the driver’s side curtain air bag sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA campaign number: 21v246000 (air bags). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 75,000.
During a routine maintenance appointment with my mechanic, the airbag warning light illuminated on the dashboard immediately following service. I brought the vehicle to a dealership for diagnosis and was informed that the issue is due to a manufacturer-issued recall affecting the airbag system. However, I was also told that no replacement parts are currently available and there is no estimated date for when the defective component can be replaced. This creates a serious safety risk, as the vehicle may now be operating with a disabled or malfunctioning airbag system, which could fail to deploy in the event of a collision. I am forced to drive a vehicle that has been acknowledged as unsafe by the manufacturer and dealer, without remedy or safe alternative provided. The dealer confirmed the recall and the unavailability of parts, but has offered no loaner vehicle, reimbursement, or temporary resolution. I am requesting that NHTSA intervene to ensure that: the manufacturer remedies the safety defect in a timely manner. Affected drivers are provided with safe alternative transportation if parts are delayed. Accountability measures are enforced if harm results from known but unresolved recalls. Component/system for inspection: vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Warning lights/symptoms: the airbag indicator light turned on immediately after routine service. Dealer confirmed problem: yes. Manufacturer informed: indirectly, through dealer report. Police/insurance involved: no.

After sliding into a ditch, my drivers side, curtain airbag deployed but, instead of covering the drivers side door window, it came out and went across my face, hitting me on the right side of my head, slamming my head into the drivers side window glass and pinning me between the airbag and the window glass, obviously putting my safety at risk. I am currently being treated for neck injuries as a result of this airbag malfunction. The problem has not been reproduced/confirmed by dealer/independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone. Photos of the vehicle including the airbags have been sent to my insurance company (allstate). There were no warnings or symptoms of the problem prior to the collision and no other vehicles were involved. Upon visual inspection, both the driver and passenger side curtain airbags are twisted around itself 4 or 5 times at the anchor point, located at the front of the door frame. The vehicle is currently in our shop at our residence.

Multiple issues have occurred with this vehicle. I have had major unsafe issues while driving while on the freeway and streets where my vehicle reads traction control off and engine power reduced which leads my vehicle to lose all power and shut down being stranded and almost hit multiple times while by myself and while my husband and children are present. I believe I am the second or third owner of this vehicle and I was never given any information about any recalls.
My vehicle has had issues starting off and on with in the last year of having the vehicle. I replaced the battery and alternator. And now we think it's the neutral safety switch. I went to go check the recalls and I see that I had a recall on the front air bag module needs replaced too. I have not received anything in the mail by the dealership or calls.

My vehicles airbag has yet to be replaced, I have 2 kids that get into that car. I need to make my car safe, and not get them hurt. We would like to have my airbag fixed ASAP, as it's been on recall for almost 2 years.
